    Determination of Junior High School Location Through Geographic Information System Utilization

    Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a management tool in the form of computer-assisted information related to the system's mapping and analysis of all occurences on earth. In education, GIS can be used to determine the location of the new school. The purpose of writing this article is to explain the importance of GIS in determining the location of education. The object of study is the equity and expansion of education access, in the form of determining the location of new schools. The method of writing this article was using the relevant literature analysis. Conclusion of this article is for equity and justice of public access in obtaining education service, determination of new school location needs to use Geographic Information System

    A Study of Landslide Areas Mitigation and Adaptation in Palupuah Subdistrict, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia

    The purpose of this research was to determine the alternative policies of landslide area mitigation and adaptation in Palupuah Subdistrict, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. This research was descriptive research using mixed method. The data collection used purposive sampling by adapting the sample to criteria.  The samples were Palupuah Subdistrict government agencies (the Department of Social, the Head of Palupuah Subdistrict, National Disaster Management Agency), the experts, and the society leaders of Palupuah Subdistrict. The results and discussion of the alternative policies of landslide area mitigation in Palupuah Subdistrict, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia are: (1) conducting the settlements management in areas with landslides risk of the greatest weight rated (0,795), (2) strengthening the slope vegetatively (0.792), (3) strengthening the slope mechanically (0.769), and (4) developing land allotment landslides based (0.750). The alternative policies of landslide area adaptation in Palupuah Subdistrict, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia are: (1) avoiding building houses in the steep slopes area, (2) performing the agricultural pattern landslide mitigation based, (3) creating the sewerage in the ​​water cycle area, and (4) making the rules based on the local wisdoms that respond to the landslide

    Student Character Development Model of Environmental Care Halal Tourism in East Lombok

    The purpose of this research analyzes the factors forming of environmental care students the character in the halal tourism at East Lombok Regency. This research includes qualitative descriptive using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach (Saaty, 2008). The data collection technique used purposive sampling and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) through observation, interview, questionnaire (questionnaire) and literature study. The research informants were teachers, students, and principals of East Lombok. Data analysis technique was done by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The result of research of factor forming the character of the students of environmental care in the halal tourism area in East Lombok 1) “Ulama / Tuan Guru” has a very high position for the order of life in East Lombok Regency. They were become the role model of life example given in accordance with syariat Islam and pay attention to the environment. 2) Parents are the environment that shapes the character of the child so that it can be applied in the life of society. 3) Teachers can develop positive characters in students through extracurricular activities as well as foster a sense of environmental care. 4) The government has an important role in disseminating to the public about halal tourism but the community retains the existing character in people's lives without changing the existing order. 5) The community is the person who is involved in the activities that exist in the life that consider the environmental conditions to remain beautiful and far from the word dirty to be an example of the community of a region with one community in other areas, especially in East Lombok Regency

    Teachers’ Proffesional in Integrating Material of Semangko Faulth and Megatrush Mentawai in Learning Geography at Senior High School in Indonesia: case study at senior high school in Agam Regency

    The purpose of this research was to describe and analysis of teachers’ professional in integrating material of semangko faulth and megatrush Mentawai in learning geography. This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants in this study were teachers of the geography of SMA Negeri 1 Ampek Angkek Kabupaten Agam as much as 2 teachers. Data analysis used reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that: professional level of teachers in the integration materials of Faulth Semangko and Megatrush Mentawai in geography learning was 71.56% with the two categories, the ability to plan the organization in the integration of the material Semangko Faulth and Megatrush Mentawai. Teachers were not maximized although this integration was submitted by adjusting the conditions and situations that occur in the environment. The master plan of Teaching and Learning Activity Management that with reference to the achievement of competence and select and prepare appropriate learning procedure (steps teach) in accordance with the curriculum guide device. Teachers have to maximize its ability to plan classroom management and observes the conditions and situation of student learning in the opening stage, the core activity, closing activities, and assessment. Teachers also plan the use of media and learning resources were better at each of meetings. Teachers plan an assessment of student achievement in geography on human and environmental materials as a result of the dynamics of the lithosphere

    Identification of Coastal Vulnerability at The North Pagai Island of Mentawai Using Smartline Method

    Climate change and global warming have a negative impact on coastal, especially small islands. Abration and floods can be very danger and need response to minimize the disaster risks. A simple and practical method is needed to inform the location and type of coastal vulnerability and its risks along coastal segments. Smartline is a coastal management method that represents the geomorphology of coastal, hinterland and shoreline. The North Pagai is a small island, a part of the Mentawai Islands that located at the west offshore of Sumatra Island and one of the under developed areas in Indonesia. The island is surrounded by the Hindia Ocean and located on a subduction path of tectonic plate that prone to earthquakes and Tsunami. High rainfall, strong winds, the complexity of coastal morphology and also the majority of coastal residents and limited infrastructure make the problems more complicated. Tsunami in 2010 (7.7 Mw) caused the change of shoreline getting worst on The East Coast of The North Pagai Island. This study aims to identify the coastal vulnerability using Smartline method. The research was conducted on April and September 2016. The result concludes that physical aspect shows Saumangaya and Matobe Village at high and also very high level of vulnerability hence Sikakap Village at very high level. The socio-economic aspect shows that The Sikakap Village is more advanced but contrary more vulnerable to disaster in terms of population density and complex activities. The North Pagai Island is a vulnerable island from physical and socio-economic aspects

    Natural Resources Management Based on Local Social Welfare in Nagari Sungai Antuan, Lima Puluh Kota District

    The purpose of this study is to reveal and analyze the management of natural resources based on local wisdom on the welfare of the community in Nagari Sungai Antuan, Lima Puluh Kota District. This research uses qualitative methods. Primary data were obtained from interviews with informants (community) and key informants (Wali Nagari, Niniak Mamak and Clean Water Management). The location of the research is in Nagari Sungai Antuan, Lima Puluh Kota district. The results of the study: forest management system or ulayat land is principled ganggam bauntuak based on kinship system, although the ownership of forest or ulayat land based on tribe. In case of a dispute between the tribe then settled by Niniak Mamak among the disputing tribes. The value of custom which feels thick here like gotong royong and often held musyawarah. Some local wisdom of society in Nagari Sungai Antuan are: 1) Manage gambier, 2) Manage mixed garden, 3) Manage paddy field and 4) Manage water resources

    Coastal Resources Conservation in Indonesia: Issues, Policies, and Future Directions

    Blessed with vast coastal region, Indonesia has developed its economy by better utilizing the available resources therein. The coastal region, consisting of about 81,000 km shoreline and more than 17,000 small islands, has provided huge contribution to the national economy and served as the solid basis for various human activities. The region and its resources should be sustainably available and existed to support the country’s future economic development. Nevertheless there is a serious concern for its future, particularly regarding the status of the resources which essentially are the important life supporting system. The main coastal ecosystems that constitute Indonesian coastal region are mangrove forest, seagrass meadow, and coral reefs.  Variety of goods and services are produced by these coastal ecosystems. Some of the goods and services are exploitable, usable, marketable, tradable, and highly priced.  Some other goods and services, however, are remained unidentified, non-quantified, non-tradable, and unable to be monetized by using the existing technologies and market mechanisms. Consequently, the resources tend be underestimated and undervalued and eventually misused and mismanaged

    The Suitability Ecotourism Beach Based Geopasial in Padang City, Indonesia: (Case Study of Category Recreation Beach and Mangrove)

    Padang city has a coastline 80.24 km with a water area 72,000 ha, and 19 small islands. Overall, coastal in Padang consists of beach sloping 41.52 km, cliff 22.08 km, muddy 8.19 km, and type of artificial beach in form of building coastal protection. Research aims for identify suitability for ecotourism beach (category of recreation beach and mangrove). Methodology used ie with matrix of suitability ecotourism beach using geospatial approach. Research results for suitability category recreation beach in 24 locations in beach Padang 18 locations are in category of very suitable with a value 82.28 % and only beach in Bung Hatta University are in category conditional with a value 27 %. Suitability category ecotourism mangrove in 19 locations in beach Padang 6 location is in a category is in accordance with a value 92.11 % and 4 location is in a category conditional/not suitable to value 50.88 %

    The Formulation of Student Social Interaction Model at Halal Tourism Area on Lombok Island

    This study aims to formulate a model of student social interaction, especially junior high school students at the halal tourism area on the Lombok island. The method used is mixed method with data collection conducted by purposive sampling technique and Analytical  Hierarchy Process (AHP). The result and discussion of alternative policy of social interaction development in Lombok island, West Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia are: (1) Increasing parentrole of student. (2) Strengthening the role of ulama/community leaders. (3) Teachers in stil positive social interaction of students  through school and laity programs. (4)  The goverment has an important role in facilitating the parents, teachers and ulama/community  leaders in developing positive social interaction of students, so that social conflicts that  can cause dispute in Lombok society can be avoided.&nbsp
