Natural disasters are one of the main challenges facing Indonesia which can threaten the sustainability of development and community welfare. This research aims examines the role of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the literature review applied to disaster mitigation as part of a sustainable development model in Indonesia. The methodology used includes spatial analysis and secondary data collection regarding disasters that occurred in various regions. The research results show that the use of GIS in articles read can increase efficiency in disaster risk mapping, spatial planning and data-based decision making. In addition, the integration of GIS in disaster mitigation strategies can strengthen the resilience of society and the environment in Indonesia. This research recommends capacity building and collaboration between government, communities and stakeholders to maximize the potential of GIS in disaster mitigation and achieve sustainable development goals with One of the important goals in the SDGs is Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, which encourages disaster-resilient development, as well as Goal 13: Climate Action, which emphasizes the importance of adaptation and mitigation measures to climate change

This study uses SWOT analysis to describe the internal and external environments that constitute the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of Sirukam Dairy Farm ecotourism. The results show that a dairy farm such as Sirukam Dairy Farm in Solok Regency has great potential to be developed into an ecotourism destination, utilizing the appeal of rural life, the milk production process, and the beauty of the surrounding nature. In addition to dairy farming, there are also other types of farming such as sheep, rabbits, chickens, and many more. Based on the results of the internal research, the strengths of Sirukam Dairy Farm ecotourism are greater than its weaknesses, with an IFAS score of 3.34 compared to a weakness score of 2.58. Meanwhile, from an external perspective, the opportunities are smaller than the threats, with an EFAS score of 3.04 compared to an opportunity score of 3.01. Therefore, it is evident that the opportunities and threats are quite similar. The results of the SWOT analysis suggest that Sirukam Dairy Farm ecotourism is located in Quadrant II, indicating that although it encounters threats, it still has the capability to leverage long-term opportunities by implementing strategies like diversifying attractions centered around education and recreation

Landslide Susceptibility Mapping Using Frequency Ratio-Based Fuzzy Logic Approach in Lima Puluh Kota Regency

One of the non-linear models for determining landslide-prone areas is the fuzzy logic method. This research aims to determine the landslide prone zoning map in Limapuluh Kota Regency, by using fuzzy gamma operations in GIS, from 11 factors: aspect, curvature, elevation, slope, landform, geology, proximity to stream, landcover, rainfall intensity, NDVI and soil. The data used is 149 landslide events in Limapuluh Kota Regency. The data was processed using the factors that cause landslides with a train and test ratio of 60: 40. The research results show that by using γ = 0.975, an area with high landslide characteristics was obtained covering an area of 28,463 ha (8.79%), with a medium area of 76,544 ha (23.64%) and low area of 218,820 (65.57%). By validating using the ROC curve and test data, an AUC value of 0.746 was obtained, which means the accuracy level of the resulting map is high

Assessment of Waianae’s Vulnerability to a Category 4 Hurricane

This research assesses the vulnerability of Waianae, a Census County Division on the northwest quadrant of Oahu, to a Category 4 hurricane. Combining socio-economic and risk assessment analyses, the study reveals that Waianae is highly susceptible to hurricane impacts, given its historical exposure and socio-economic disparities. The socio-economic vulnerabilities, including lower income, higher poverty rates, and increased unemployment, are compounded by physical vulnerabilities, such as limited access via Farrington Highway. Utilizing tools like HAZUS-MH and ArcGIS, the study quantifies potential damages, debris generation, social impacts, and economic losses in the event of a hurricane. The findings emphasize the urgent need for resilience-building measures, including local job creation, development of emergency shelters, and exploration of alternative evacuation routes. Addressing these vulnerabilities will enhance Waianae's preparedness and mitigate the potential impact of future hurricanes, fostering a more resilient and secure community

Management of the Upstream Ciliwung Watershed, Bogor Regency

This report presents the results of research on the management of the Upper Ciliwung River Basin (DAS) in Bogor Regency, which aims to analyze the relationship between upstream area factors and flood events in Jakarta, and provide recommendations for better management. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method through field surveys and literature studies. The results show that the Upper Ciliwung Watershed has diverse physical characteristics, with topography varying from lowlands to steep, and a climate influenced by high rainfall. Land use changes, especially the increase in residential areas, have reduced water absorption capacity and increased surface runoff, which contributes to increased flood risk downstream. In addition, the geological and hydrological conditions of the watershed also affect river flow discharge. Therefore, integrated and sustainable management is needed to maintain ecosystem balance and reduce negative impacts on the environment. Recommendations provided include strengthening land zoning policies, implementing conservation techniques, and increasing community participation in water resource management

Multicriteria Spatial Data Analysis For Landslide Prone Zone in South Bogor Sub-District

South Bogor District is one of the areas in Bogor City that has a high level of vulnerability to landslide disasters. Factors such as high rainfall, soil types that easily become saturated, steep slope inclinations, and land cover changes due to development are the main causes of the increased landslide risk. This research aims to map the landslide hazard levels in the area using a spatial approach with Geographic Information System (GIS) and a weighted overlay method. The five main parameters used in this analysis are slope gradient, soil type, rock type, land cover, and rainfall. Each parameter is weighted based on its contribution to the landslide potential. Data were obtained from various agencies such as BIG, BNPB, ESDM, and BPBD Kota Bogor. The overlay results show three hazard classes: low, medium, and high. Validation was carried out by comparing the zoning results with the actual landslide occurrence points recorded in the field. The research results show that most of the South Bogor District area falls into the moderate to high hazard class, especially in areas with steep slopes and non-forest land cover. Areas such as Kertamaya, Rancamaya, and Mulyaharja fall into high-risk zones, which aligns with previous landslide occurrence data. The resulting zoning model has proven capable of mapping potential hazards quite well and can serve as a basis for disaster mitigation planning, spatial planning, and landslide risk reduction policies in urban areas. &nbsp

Assessing Community Vulnerability to the 2010 Merapi Eruption: an Analysis of Exposure, Sensitivity and Adaptive Capacity

Mount Merapi is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia. In the past century, Merapi erupted several times and caused damage and loss of life to the surrounding communities, especially in Cangkringan Sub-district, Sleman. However, it does not stop the community from inhabiting the volcano’s slopes. One of the main reasons is the communities rely on their livelihood on livestock and agriculture within those areas. This study assessed the vulnerability of the communities who live on the slopes of Merapi by identifying three key aspects: exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity. This study employs a qualitative approach using secondary data from scientific literatures, hazard maps, government reports, and statistical records. Overall, the findings indicate that community vulnerability results from the intersection of persistent exposure, socioeconomic sensitivity, and uneven adaptive capacity. Strengthening disaster risk reduction in Merapi’s hazard zones requires not only enhancing institutional preparedness but also addressing livelihood dependence and local cultural dimensions. The study underscores the importance of integrating social vulnerability assessment into volcanic disaster management and resilience planning
