Get PDFThis dedication activity was based on requests from the management of the Ar-Rusydiny Segaet Islamic boarding school and the people of Wakan village, Jerowaru sub-district, East Lombok regency to get guidance on poultry raising and processing of poultry manure waste, which is one of the activities in the boarding school. The activity involved the community and students of Islamic boarding schools in the village of Wakan. Activities include counseling on poultry farming and poultry farm waste processing in the form of hongkong caterpillar cultivation using poultry droppings. The method used is a participatory method, counseling, and waste treatment practices with various alternative treatment processes. The target to be achieved from this activity is the community and boarding school students motivated to conduct poultry farming and poultry farm waste processing business, and make it one of the leading programs in boarding schools. Based on the results of the community service activities, various problems were found, namely the ignorance of the community in processing poultry, cow, and goat manure waste which is often complained of by the community. The Wakan village community and the management of the Ar-Rusydiny Segaet boarding school do not know how to handle livestock waste. Wakan villagers enthusiastically participated in counseling and practices of sewage treatment, as evidenced by the number of participants who took part, 37 people and during the active discussion session, as well as the emergence of community commitment to process waste into useful products.

Get PDFBreast cancer is one of the main women's health problem in the world, including Indonesia. Efforts to control this disease can be increased through education to the women community about the breast examination method named SADARI. This is simple but effective method to be used as a primary breast cancer prevention strategy. This method aims to find breast abnormalities routinely checked every month in women aged 18 and above. Therefore, educational efforts regarding the SADARI method for female high school students are expected to increase their knowledge about this method. The educational effort was carried out by disseminating information about SADARI method using poster media on female high school students in Mataram City. Pre-test and post-test are used to to evaluate the increase of their knowledge about the SADARI method. About 40 participants from SMAN 2, SMAN 3, SMAN 4, and SMAN 7 Mataram have participated in this dissemination activities of SADARI education method. There was an increase in student knowledge in the four high schools based on differences in the total mean pre-test and post-test scores (56 vs 82, p=0,000) as well as the average differences in each of the high schools, namely 58 vs 88 (SMAN 2); 50 vs 82 (SMAN 3); 52 vs 78 (SMAN 4); 64 vs 80 (SMAN 7). As many as 80% of students (32) experienced an increase in knowledge, and 20% did not show an increase in knowledge. This shows that this dedication activity can significantly increase students' knowledge about SADARI methods

Both of them can create physical attractiveness, self-image and individual personality. Adolescent often have difficulty in accepting their physical bodychanges though some of them are satisfied with their body. In this case, senior high-schools have a social and moral responsibility in order to observe their students who are in adolescence by adjusting the eduction in the class. The team of community service of Faculty of Communication of Universitas Tarumanagara along with SMAN 2 West Jakarta provided a training about the importance of artifactual communications as a kind of non-verbal communications. The aim of this event is to increase the student’s understanding, especially young women, about the importance of artifactual messages through facial appearance. It will helps student increasing their confidence. Based on data gathering by questionnaire, it shows that students recognize, have knowledge and understanding, as well as able to identify objects of artifactual communication. Further, giving material along with practical method are effective way to provide understanding in terms of artifactual communications

Get PDFIndonesia's position in the ring of fire and the great earthquake experience on Lombok Island a while ago led to the education and mitigation of earthquakes is very important. These two things should be introduced early on and carried out continuously. The mitigation of earthquakes in school-age children will be more effective through a fun game as learning activity as well as educational tools. Aftershock Game is a non-digital card game specially designed to teach players to take attitudes quickly and precisely in the event of an earthquake. Playing activities while learning by using Aftershock Game has been conducted at MI Tazhib Kekait, one of the earthquakes affected locations. 90 elementary school children on 3rd-5th grade played this game as disaster mitigation education. This game was conducted in 15 small groups of 4-6 people. Activities are accompanied by a facilitator for 15-20 minutes per group, then at the end of each game students are required to give feedback on the Aftershock game. The performance of the game's aspect assessment shows that Aftershock Game is easy to play, fun and has high replay ability with a mean score of 8.89 out of a maximum score of 10. The game's design aspect also shows good value (mean score 8.32). Repairs are required on illustration and packaging boxes to be more durable when used. Educational materials on the earthquake and the mitigations are well delivered, with comprehensive content (mean score 8.82). Aftershock Game is an earthquake education game that is easy to play, interesting and comprehensive. This game is suitable for school aged children and can be developed as a community educational tools regarding the mitigation of earthquake
