    No full text
This research examined the influence of knowledge, risk-return, and bandwagon effect on accounting students' cryptocurrency investment interest. The population in this study were active accounting students at Jenderal Soedirman University. The sampling method was purposive sampling. From 277 samples that met the criteria. 122 questionnaires can be used in the next research stage. The results of the study show that investment interest by Generation Z represented by accounting students who have taken financial technology courses is influenced by knowledge, risk-return, and the bandwagon effect. This finding provides evidence that learning about cryptocurrencies makes the younger generation not only have sufficient knowledge but also understand the risk-return of crypto investment instruments which are generally considered to be very uncertain in their performance. Likewise, the bandwagon effect is indeed a common thing among Generation Z to be interested in cryptocurrencies. Although the research results cannot be generalized, it can be concluded that generation Z who have received education about cryptocurrencies already understand the risks behind their investment choices

Deep Learning-Based Brain Tumor Classification Using Convolutional Neural Network

An essential noninvasive medical diagnostic technique is magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which is particularly useful for identifying brain cancers. While earlier algorithms proved effective on smaller MRI datasets, their performance suffered on bigger datasets. This study addresses the need for a swift and reliable brain tumor classification system capable of sustaining optimal performance across comprehensive MRI datasets. The convolutional neural network is implemented using the Keras library, incorporating the ResNet50 architecture as a pre-trained model. The ResNet50 model is fine-tuned for the specific brain tumor classification task, with a Global Average Pooling layer, dropout, and a final dense layer with softmax activation. Data augmentation techniques are employed to enhance the model’s robustness, including rotation, width and height shifts, and horizontal flips. The training process involves optimizing the model using the Adam optimizer with a learning rate of 0.0001. Early stopping, learning rate reduction on plateau, and model checkpointing are implemented as callbacks to ensure efficient training and prevent overfitting. The proposed model achieves a remarkable accuracy of 99.28 percent after 15 epochs. The classification task involves distinguishing among four classes: glioma, meningioma, pituitary, and no tumor

A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF POETRY TRANSLATION USING THREE AI TOOLS

AI tools today enable faster and easier translation. However, because some AI technologies are not designed specifically for translation tasks, especially literary translation, such as poetry translation, they may not always provide appropriate translations. AI systems may not translate well if they are not properly prompted.  This study analyses the translation of Indonesian poetry 'Hujan bulan Juni' by a renowned Indonesian poet, namely Sapardi Djoko Damono, into English by three AI tools: QuillBot, Google Translate, and Chat GPT. The purpose of this study is to find out the translation differences in terms of structure and diction and to discover which AI tools offer the best translation that can keep the aesthetics of the poetry in the target language. The data is the poetry titled ’Hujan Bulan Juni’ which is downloaded from the internet. This poem consists of twelve lines, forming six complete sentences. The poetry is then submitted to the three AI tools to be translated into English. The three translations were then compared in terms of the word choice and the structures used in the target text translations. The title 'Hujan bulan Juni' is translated as 'June Rain' by QuillBot, ‘the rain of June' by Google Translate, and 'the rain in June' by ChatGPT.  These samples show that each tool has a certain preference and technique when structuring the translations even though the meaning might be similar. Results show that in terms of translating poetry, QuillBot gives the most natural translation, followed by ChatGPT and finally Google Translate, particularly in the choice of words and structure. For instance, QuillBot translates rintik rindu’ into ‘drops of longing,’ while GT and ChatGPT render it just as ‘longing.’ QuillBot maintains its faithfulness to the source text, making it more natural in the target text. However, the AI translators cannot fully create an aesthetic translation of poetry, as the target language translation still feels like a word-for-word translation. GT, for example, translates ‘arif’ and ‘bijak’ as ‘wise’, which does not convey the subtle difference of the source texts.  The findings of this study imply that AI can be a valuable tool in improving productivity in translating poetry or other kinds of literary works. The findings also suggest that AI-generated machine translations offer significant potential for literary translation, yet human touch is still needed to create more aesthetic target language translation. Therefore, a hybrid approach that combines AI efficiency and human expertise is still needed in practicing, studying or teachin

DISPARITY OF THE ENGLISH FORMAL AND INFORMAL LANGUAGE ON THE STUDENTS’ SPOKEN TEXT : A SOCIOPRAGMATIC PERCEPTIONS

Recent phenomena have been identified among students at the university level, such as the tendency to use an informal language style, which has become a normal and common one, even though the context situation requires a very formal context. The students prefer to use a casual and informal style over a formal one. This is, of course, not appropriate since in formal contexts and situations, a formal language including nonverbal elements is used. The study analyzes the disparity in the use of formal and informal English language, including the nonverbal elements used by the students of the English department in their fourth semester of the academic year 2024-2025 with the number of seventy seven students as the subjects of the study. The objectives of this study are to describe the perceived characteristics of English formal language used by the students in their formal spoken language, as well as the nonverbal elements from the point of Sociopragmatic views,  thus explaining the factors of the difficulties the students face. Along with the descriptions of the formality, an implementation of some strategies through theoretical concepts on Pragmatics and Sociolinguistics is also conducted.  The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative design with some process phases applied, starting with conducting a direct observation in the classroom during the lecture of Advanced Interpretation taking place. Then it is also followed by a deep interview with the students and some lecturers in order to gain some preliminary data about the use of English formal language expressions. The data sources are the classroom activities, especially classroom presentations, discussions, and Q & A sessions during the lecture. The data are all the verbal and nonverbal English language showing formality.  After that, there is an exposure to some theoretical concepts on Pragmatics and Sociolinguistics. The strategic explanations will be introduced to the students so that they can identify the most challenging factors that make them feel discomfort and unwilling to use the formal English language and nonverbal elements in very formal contexts and situations. By conducting the study there are some significant contributions such as the use of English formal expressions and dictions is used, the nonverbal elements such as the good tone of speaking, intonation, pause, eye contact, body gestures are also used, thus they contribute to enhance students' ability to use the formal English language and nonverbal elements in a formal situation. &nbsp

NAMING F&B BUSINESS IN MARGONDA DEPOK: WORD FORMATION STUDY

The linguistic landscape of public spaces in Depok, particularly along Margonda Street as the central of Depok city, reflects considerable language diversity. Language, functioning as signage, is utilized across various public domains, including streets, open areas, public facilities, and commercial establishments such as coffee shops and food courts. This study specifically investigates the naming practices of food and beverage (F&B) businesses in the Margonda area of Depok. The primary aim is to analyze the linguistic units and word-formation processes employed in these commercial names. One illustrative example is the brand name Hypnotea, which is formed through blending, combining the words hypnotize and tea. This process demonstrates how morphological strategies contribute to the creation of concise and memorable brand identities. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, employing observational methods to collect data without direct interference from the researchers. A total of 10 F&B brand names were examined, revealing two principal types of linguistic units: single words and phrases. The analysis identified several word-formation processes, including blending, borrowing, clipping, onomatopoeia, and reduplication. Among these, reduplication emerged as the most frequently occurring process, accounting for approximately 40% of the data. The findings suggest that effective brand naming strategies tend to use  formal and timeless lexical choices, which are more likely to achieve long-term recognition and appeal. In contrast, names based on informal language, slang, or gimmicks may lack lasting impact. The study concludes by recommending future research on other sectors within the F&B industry, such as noodle brands, to further enhance the understanding of linguistic practices in commercial naming within urban Indonesian contexts
