    The paper presents a model of hybrid energy storage, which allows to connect any number of modules to the system. Due to significant differences in the performance of various types of modules, such as power, and energy density, price, operating temperature, etc., combining them into a single system allows to extend their lifetime or reduce weight. The main objective of the authors was to provide a method for power distribution among devices making up the system, which ultimately will enable an optimisation of the power management strategy. An important parameter of the system is the possibility of its adjustment and upgrades. The summary identi- fies further directions of research

    Performance of a cyclone with an aslant shaped inlet

    This paper presents an analysis of selected operating parameters of a cyclone with a modified inlet. The modification consisted in an angular arrangement of an inlet channel wall. This can result – in view of previously conducted experiments – in a faster insertion of a dusty gas into a swirl motion, an improvement of particles separation process. The analysis was carried out using numeric CFD simulations. The results were compared to those obtained from simulations and lab-measurements for a cyclone with standard inlet

    Numerical Modeling of the Pulse Wave Propagation in Human Thoracic Aorta

    In this paper, a solution to the numerical simulation of blood flow in the human thoracic aorta is presented. In vivo measurements of pulsewave waveforms were performed and used as the initial condition for numerical calculations. Equations resulting from the analysis of the general mass and momentum balance for blood flow were used for the description of aortal haemodynamics. The system of differential equations has been solved with the method of characteristics, which is often used in hydrodynamic problems. Numerical simulations were employed for the cases of three people of differing ages. As a result, time-dependent profiles of blood pressure and velocity as well as deformation of the arterial wall were determined

    Among the representatives of German historicism there are two who occupy the most prominent position: Conrad Wilhelm Hase, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich (at first a student in Hanover) and Karl Friedrich Schinkel, a student of the Berlin Building Academy. Among the wide oeuvre of these artists, sacred architecture is of essential importance. numerous temples designed by them have become separate chapters of forms, shaped in a separate, individual stylistic trend. Among the many realizations of other contemporary authors, Schinkel and Hase developed their own model of sacred object, which serves as a canvas for experiments with forms of historicism

    In one of the oldest chemical plants in Poland are two reinforced concrete towers for fertilizer granulation which were built in the nineteen-thirties. These towers have operated continuously in a very hostile environment for about fifty years. The authors of this paper have used ad hoc methods of repair and protection with varying degrees of success for several years. In 2012, the renovation of one of the towers was designed and implemented with a view to its continuous use over a period of twelve years. A new comprehensive method of protecting the tower was applied due to its relatively long-term use. The resulting tower damage, the results of chemical and structural analysis of the concrete and coating stress are presented in this paper. Furthermore, security methods applied by them and their functionality after a few years of use as well as material and construction details relating to works performed to make the tower operational over the next twelve years are presented

    The paper presents the results of a study involving the impact of sudden change of crosssectional area on the flow patterns and local pressure drops for flow of multi-phase mixture. The experiment was conducted in the conditions of a horizontal and vertical flow through a measuring channel. Pressure drops calculated on the basis Kawahara and Lottes methods are compared with experimental data. A system of two interconnected pipes with internal diameters of 40 and 22 mm as well as 46 and 16 mm and a total length of 7 m formed the measurement channel.     The impact of some external factors on the metrological properties of a water meter

    The paper refers to the study of water meters and the impact of some external factors on the variability of water meters metrological parameters during their operation period. The study was conducted in three groups, depending on cause and the moment of dismounting – before expiry of operation period, at the end of operation period and to metrological expertise. In this paper, are presented results of measuring errors investigations, which show variability of errors during operation time. In the group of water meters with exceeded errors, analyses were conducted on the damage types and the factors affecting the deterioration of metrological accuracy. Research is aimed to define the conditions required in order to maintain the metrological accuracy during operation period
