Risks related to key persons of service companies noted on the NewConnect
The article concerns one of the most important detailed risk management issues, namely, the risk related to key persons. In the theoretical part of the article, the author analyses the current status of the risk associated with key persons in the processes of management of companies. The empirical part contains the results of research conducted on a group of 44 service companies listed on the NewConnect. The research conducted brought about cognitive effects involving, inter alia, identification of ways of perception of the risk related to key persons and the expected potential consequences of its occurrence in the companies surveyed. The study primarily used the method of critical review of the literature and analysis of the content of disclosure documents of the surveyed companies
Attractiveness of job fairs for students as a platform for searching and exchange of information
Job fairs are one of the popular means used in communication between employers and potential employees in Poland. One of the groups, which the employer reaches through them are young adults entering the labour market, including students. The analysis of their behaviour constitutes the basis for preparation of the appropriate fair offer hence it is relevant to assess the attractiveness of job fairs and expectations towards them among this group of job seekers. The article presents the results of questionnaires conducted among 419 students of AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków indicating their reasons for participating in (traditional and virtual) job fairs and the level of satisfaction with their participation. The results show a greater interest in traditional job fairs on the part of respondents. In addition, there is a diversity of expectations of job fairs among students of technical and managerial studies
Konferencja naukowa poświęcona pamięci Prof. Andrzeja Gawrońskiego (Przemyśl, 1 kwietnia 2016 r.)
The author gave to print the report of the scientific “Andrzej Gawroński (1885–1927) - a linguist and scholar.” It was organized by the Society of Friends of Science in Przemyśl, Juliusz Słowacki High School No. 1 in Przemyśl as well as the Podkarpackie Center for Teacher Education Przemysl Chapter on April 1, 2016. The meeting was devoted to different aspects of life and scientific work of one of the world's most famous linguists - professor of oriental philology Krakow and Lviv universities, also briefly lived in Przemysl. Materials from the session will be published in The Przemyśl Yearbook issue Literature and Language.Autor przedstawił sprawozdanie z konferencji naukowej „Andrzej Gawroński (1885-1927) – poliglota i uczony”. Sesję zorganizowało Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Nauk w Przemyślu, I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Juliusza Słowackiego w Przemyślu oraz Podkarpackie Centrum Edukacji Nauczycieli – Odział w Przemyślu w dniu 1 kwietnia 2016 r. Konferencję poświęcono różnym aspektom życia i działalności naukowej jednego z najsłynniejszych lingwistów świata – profesora filologii orientalnej uniwersytetów krakowskiego i lwowskiego, krótko mieszkającego również w Przemyślu. Materiały z sesji zostaną opublikowane w zeszycie Literatura i Język „Rocznika Przemyskiego”
The contemporary monument of conceptual architecture – on the basis of the New Cricoteka in Krakow
The introduction of a new museum space in the vicinity of the relics of the past is associated with the erection of modern conceptual architectural monuments. The stronger the contrast between the old and the new, the stronger the expression of the work on the environment. The author undertakes an analysis of the New Cricoteka in Krakow as an example of architecture that represents, collects, and that is art – a game, an intellectual dialogue, a spectacle engaging the viewer into the action
Atypical example of the reduction of the safety and durability of a typical motorway overbridge
The present paper is related to the motorway overbridge, the technical state of which has been showing deficiencies related mainly to the presence of cracks. Verification of the design and construction documents was carried out prior to advanced analysis which covered the construction process with phases, loads acting in various periods of time as well as the progressing ground deformations. Conclusions drawn on the basis of the analysis results are not typical because the emergency situation is resulting from many simultaneously acting factors. The level of the reduction of the safety margin of the bridge has been estimated
The poles method for higher-order linear time-varying systems
In dynamic linear systems described by differential equations with constant parameters, the poles of the rational function (transfer function of the system) play an important role. This article attempts to expand the poles concept in a situation where the system is described by the N-th order linear system with time-varying parameters. It then introduces the concept of characteristic equations and time-dependent poles
Playing architecture
The very word “game” has a very wide meaning. As a game can be considered a prototype of culture as well as a metaphor, a simulacrum, and a simulation of the real world, the article is a reflection on architecture seen through the prism of three very old games: hide-and-seek, musical chairs and the goose game
Contemporary identity of mining towns – example of bavarian mines in Oberpfalz region
In the modern-day transformations of cities and regions in Europe, maintaining and emphasizing one’s own identity is a substantial problem. It refers especially to industrial areas, in particular the ones connected with exploitation of natural resources through different mining techniques. The example of east Bavaria shows that mining areas and buildings can still be a basis of regional identity – regardless of current state of mining activity. Bavarian cities, referred to in the course of the article, represent different stages of development of mining function – from active industrial exploitation, through the phase of liquidation of mines, until the post-industrial period, in which the remains of mining industry, retained in different states, no longer perform their original role. During the analysis of the identity of mining towns, all of the above stages were taken into consideration. The essence of this identity in contemporary development and functioning of both deep and opencast mines was of particular importance. The conclusions that are drawn from the deliberation, not only point towards the crucial role of mining function in the shaping of historical and contemporary identity of selected Bavarian towns, but are also an interesting background for analogical research of the numerous mining centres in Poland
Dynamic modeling of controlled operation of solar system in ECOSIMPRO
The article describes the structure and operation of virtual one-dimensional dynamic model of the solar heating system using components from the libraries of the EcosimPro program. The model is based on a fragment of a real hybrid sorption-compressor refrigeration system, designed and built in the Laboratory of Thermodynamics and Thermal Machines Measurements at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Cracow University of Technology. In the second part of the paper, the results of the dynamic simulation are shown along with their comparison to the actual measurement data recorded during one day (and night)
Simulation model of wheel slip and slide protection systems for rail vehicles
A simplified model of a rail vehicle - electric locomotive, with particular emphasis on wheel- rail cooperation model, is presented. The principles of detecting the slip and algorithms that detect and eliminate the slip, both during acceleration and braking using dump valves are presented. Two anti-slip system simulation models, implemented in Matlab Simulink are described taking into account each subsystem model. The following models of hardware and software subsystems are described: the rotational speed sensors, the dumping valves and the subsystem determining the reference speed. The study program, simulation results, analysis and conclusions are presented
