NTP Security by Delay-based Detection in Intelligent Defense Systems

    No full text
Nowadays, computer equipment has hardware or software clocks to which they refer to time stamp files, transactions and emails. The design of a quartz oscillator, such as clocks drift functions like ordinary watches that do not perfectly match. Therefore, it needs networked machines sharing common resources. For instance, UNIX makes command updates key files ensuring that files on which it depends exist and are up-to-date. Also, correlating log messages from several systems becomes very difficult if it does not occur at the same time. This paper focuses mainly on how to detect attacks, trying to predict attacks based on delays caused by this equipment. A server is configured using NTP protocol whose main target is to be implemented in UNIX system, to see how the NTP server is managed with the powerful package Chrony for Ubuntu. The examined results via Python reveal that clients neither will be nor able to make final decisions just after negotiating with servers in several attempts, before or after accepting their clock

Design and Development of Android Based Speed Limit Warning Application

    No full text
Speeding remains a common practice on many roads, leading to a significant number of crashes. There are a number of traditional and well-proven measures to improve the speed limit compliance and reduce driving speeds, which consist of infrastructural measures and speed enforcement in particular. In this development, by using an android device, the application continuously provides a visual information about the speed limit in force. In the case of a driver exceeds the speed limit, the application warns the driver visually where the speed limit indicates on the screen of the smartphone and starts to flash. If the speed is not reduced, an alarm is triggered and a message will be sent to a registered contact

The increasingly complexity and volatile environment of the current business context due to the advancement in technology and changes of workforce demographics have increased the need for organizations to identify, recruit and retain their talented employees. Talent management strategies become a priority for all organizations to ensure their competitive advantage. Recognizing its importance, an extensive research on talent management has been conducted by researchers, covering different emphasis. This paper aims to provide a review of research related to talent management and job performance. Drawn from an analysis of 20 related studies, several research gaps are identified, and these research gaps relate to the diversified perspectives and conceptualisation of talent management, the underpinning theories and the contexts and industrial sectors of research in talent management and the constructs and their relationships investigated in research of talent management. These findings are valuable for researchers to embark in future research on the impact of talent management strategies and job performance. Keywords: Talent management strategies; job performance; literature review; theories; constructs

Kata kunci: Hubungan, kesediaan, etika profesional                   ABSTRACT Factors of knowledge readiness, attitudes and environments are important aspects for engineering students in understanding and practicing the professional ethics of engineers. The formation of professional engineering ethics among students should begin at the tertiary level. Professional ethics involves personal values and behaviour. Recognising the best ethical practices can help students to practice them at the workplace in the future. This study aimed to identify the relationship between factors which influenced engineering students’ readiness in practicing the professional ethics of engineers. A survey was conducted by using questionnaires to obtain feedback for the study. A total of 157 engineering students became the respondents for the questionnaires. Data were analysed using SPSS version 22.0 software to obtain the descriptive and inferential statistics. It is hoped that the findings of this study can provide preliminary information related to the students’ readiness in preparing themselves to become professional engineers. Keywords: Relationship, readiness, professional ethic

Abstract. The workplace is increasingly becoming a setting where continued existence requires an above-average performance of the employees.  A competitive advantage can no longer be obtained simply by increasing widespread technologies. By the same way, success can no longer be obtained by merely attempting to correct flaws of human resources. The pre-requisite of today’s workplace is to understand the importance of human strengths rather than focusing on “fixing the flaws” paradigm. Therefore, the prime objective of this research is to propose an integrative model to study the impact of the positive strengths of employees on job performance. The present study used two different research approaches to get maximum possible relevant studies related to positive organizational behaviour  criteria. First, electronic databases and secondly indexed journals related to psychology, human resource management and organisational behaviour. An integrative model has been proposed linking emotional intelligence, psychological capital, and proactive personality to job performance via work engagement. The research argues that human strengths such as emotional intelligence, psychological capital, proactive personality, and work engagement are essential factors that can play a significant role in enhancing job performance of the employees. Based on JDR perspective, coupled with the positive organizational behaviour theory, the researchers propose a novel framework pertinent to the banking sector of Pakistan. The conceptual framework has not yet been tested empirically. Hence, future studies are necessary to empirically test the framework using survey. Keywords: Emotional intelligence; Psychological capital; Proactive Personality; Job Performance; Work engagemen

    No full text
The configurations of nodes transmitting wirelessly, show a noteworthy effect in the evaluation of vehicle ad hoc networks (VANET). Although significant research has led to the development of simulations that are more relevant to real-world mobility, the level of information required to demonstrate VANET still remains open. This paper aims to discover the significance of vehicle mobility in VANET that depend on vehicle density, environmental settings and vehicle speed. This considerably helps researchers to better characterise vehicle mobility for VANET deployments
