TOOLS OF THINKING PREFERRED BY MANUFACTURING STUDENT OF UTEM
ABSTRACT This article meant to investigate the choices of thinking tools among Manufacturing Student of UTeM. The manufacturing student involved was one BMFG from the Faculty of Manufacturing. There are 10 groups in the class. Each group were given an assignment to write one out of seven thinking tools taught in the class. The thinking tools are Brainstorming, Mind Map, SCAMPER, 6 Thinking Hat, SWOT, CPSP and Design Thinking. The finding is that these manufacturing students preferred three thinking tools which are mind map, SCAMPER and 6 Thinking Hats; wherein mind map is the major choice. It is remarkable that there seven choices of thinking tools and yet only three stakes out. This research is important because it will explore if their choices are due to their characteristic of learning style and environment that need mind map than others. The other reason is that these thinking tools are easier to consume and use. Next factor could be that these thinking tools are the best for them in learning activities. Signal to Interference Plus Noise Ratio Analysis of Femtocells in Advanced Long-Term Evolution (LTE)
This work aims to investigate signal to interference plus noise ratio of femtocells for indoor users under long term evolution (LTE). Ethiopia has different cities with big buildings, companies, hotels, hospitals, condos, residential houses, and others. Signal attenuators like several walls, number of floors, and others affect the quality of the signal. For this reason, femtocells are taken as a solution to enhance the signal quality. This work considers signal to interference plus noise ratio with the system flow chart. The performance analysis used MultiWall Multi Floor (MWMF), an indoor propagation model. Path losses and signal to interference plus noise ratio are used to measure the performance in this work. The outcome of this work shows that femtocells are capable of enhancing signal quality for indoor users
On Optimization of Manufacturing of an Enhanced Swing Differential Colpitts Oscillator Based on Heterostructures to Increase Density of their Elements: Influence of Miss-Match Induced Stress
This paper presents an analytical approach to model linear and nonlinear mass and heat transport with space and time varying parameters. The approach gives a possibility to predict mass and heat transport in multilayer structures without crosslinking the solution on interfaces between layers in these structures. Based on the approach, we analyzed the possibility to increase the density of field-effect heterotransistors in an enhanced swing differential Colpitts oscillator. The results indicate that the increase in the density of these transistors could be obtained by manufacturing them in a heterostructure with specific configuration using dopant diffusion or ion implantation with future optimized annealing. We also found that the fulfillment of specific detected conditions gives a possibility to decrease the mismatch-induced stress, which was generated in layers of the considered heterostructure
Braille Display Systems for Blind People with Haptic Belt
This manuscript addresses the development of a microcontroller-based braille display system. Recently, tactile display devices use technologies such as electric motors, piezoelectric, and solenoids as actuators. Nevertheless, the device is seeming to be bulky, inflexible, and far from soft actuation. Thus, the project in this manuscript portrays the development of a new design by using Micro servomotors and embedded soft- computing algorithms. The system consists of a haptic belt and a sensing unit. The sensing part of a Braille cell is designed to be wearable on arm. The methodology to reach the outcomes involving the ATmega328P microcontroller in the Arduino board, Tower Pro SG51R micro servo, and the LV-MaxSonar-EZ1 ultrasonic sensor. These apparatuses are lumped in a Braille Display System with a Haptic Belt. The performance and functionality of the system are evaluated based on its ability to detect obstacles from four different locations by means of ultra- sonic sensors. The sensors actuate the servomotors to notice the blind. The system works well around 0.5 meters radius. The boundedness of the system radius is acceptable to secure ample time for the scanning process. The responses of the sensors upon various obstacles are presented in this manuscript with a thorough analysis
Systematic Analysis and Review of Path Optimization Techniques in WSN
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a centre of research owing to prevalent applications like military and scrutinizing circumstances of environment. The recent approaches showed that the mobility of sink in a controlled path can enhance the efficiency of energy in WSN, but the constraints of the path make the routing more complicated. Thus, the sink with fixed speed poses less communication time for collecting data via sensor nodes that are arbitrarily deployed. This limitation has noteworthy issues in enhancing data collected and minimizing energy consumption. Moreover, these research constraints led to the design proficient path optimization technique in WSN. This work presents a survey based on path optimization strategies. In addition, a thorough investigation is done based on various parameters. Also, we have analyzed the merits and demerits of conventional path optimization strategies. Finally, future research directions in obtaining efficient path optimization in Wireless Sensor Networks along with the mobile sink are elaborated
Tahap Pencapaian Aras Kognitif Pelajar Kursus Penghayatan Etika dan Peradaban ke Arah Melahirkan Modal Insan Berpengetahuan(University Students’ Cognitive Level in the ‘Appreciation of Ethics and Civilization’ Course Towards Producing Knowledgeable Human
Kata Kunci: domain kognitif; modal insan; pencapaian pelajar ABSTRACT The country is in need of human capital that can think creatively and critically as well as possessing extensive knowledge in their field of studies and current issues. In order to dominate high cognitive skills, students must not only depend on the knowledge taught during the class alone but they need to read broadly. This paper aims to identify the cognitive domain level achieved by students who took the Appreciation of Ethics and Civilization course as a core university course at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). The course learning outcomes ensure students are able to master two cognitive levels, namely, Knowledge (C1) and Comprehension (C2). The study involved 1,430 Year 1 students from various programs of studies. This study uses a qualitative research method by using document analysis protocol. The results of the study found that the level of cognitive domain achieved for Comprehension (C2) was lower than the C1. Learners’ achievements in comprehension (C2) in the two tests were at satisfactory level due to the lack of awareness among students about current issues in the context of ethics and civilization. Analytical Modeling of the Interaction of a Finite Inducer with a Hidden Long Crack in Ferromagnetic Metals
This paper proposed a semi-analytical solution for evaluation of field distributions around the surface of a ferromagnetic metallic half space, which contains a hidden long crack and excited by a three-dimensional arbitrary frequency current-carrying inducer. The solution was obtained by using the method of separation of variables in three dimensions. This research assumed that the conductor as a lossy dielectric and used the concept of a rectangular waveguide, which is partially loaded with dielectric to expand all TM and TE field components in the problem. To obtain convergent results, the eigenvalue equation associated with TE modes in the flawed region. By imposing boundary conditions and using the mode matching technique, we obtained a linear system of AX=B was obtained, which is solved to attain the unknown coefficients. The accuracy and efficiency of the modelling technique is confirmed by comparing the results with those obtained by CST finite integration code
Automatic Leg Cramps Relief Device
A sudden contraction of calf muscles that can leave pain and soreness for an hour. The purpose of this paper is to apply the TRIZ approach in designing an automatic leg cramps relief device. The method is based on the study of TRIZ Engineering Contradiction and Contradiction Matrix. The study showed two possible elements that can be used for this project, heat and vibration. The effect of heat and vibration on the contracting muscle was analyzed by reading the surface Electromyography (EMG) signal on the calf muscle. Before the analysis, participants were requested to perform a few leg exercises to make the calf muscle tense. The result indicated that heat treatment can reduce EMG muscle reading while the vibration is vice versa. In conclusion, the heat can give some relaxation to the contracting muscle
THE EFFECT OF MATERNAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL BEHAVIOUR FACTORS ON THE MALARIA CASE IN CITY OF SABANG, ACEH, INDONESIA
ABSTRACTThe city of Sabang is an endemic area of malaria with the dominant Plasmodium falciparum. This study aims to determine the effect of maternal and environmental behavioural factors on malaria cases in Sabang. The research design used was an analytic survey with cross-sectional study design. The sampling technique in this study employs cluster random sampling technique, hence the number of samples of 100 mothers from 4 villages in the Sabang area was obtained, namely Beurawang Village, Keuneukai Village, Batee Shok Village, and Iboih Village. Data collection was done by interviewing and examining the environment around the mother's residence. This study provides results, namely the physical, biological and chemical environments significantly influence the incidence of malaria. Furthermore, knowledge, attitudes, and skills of mothers also significantly influence the incidence of malaria. The dominant factor that most influences malaria cases in Sabang are the physical environment, namely mosquito breeding sites (water depth, water temperature, area, clarity, lighting, and water flow). Automated pH Regulator For Freshwater Prawn With Analog pH Meter Pro
In Malaysia, farmers faced the problems of prawn diseases which cause billions of USD in damage, along with the loss of prawn production. Farmers begin to wipe out from the prawn industry and investors are unwilling to finance prawn production. There will be a risk that it will decrease the productivity of Malaysia's prawn production due to the prawn affected by diseases. Research shows that an uncontrolled pH level in the prawn tank causes the prawn to be stressed and lower the prawn immunity system. As a result, diseases such as Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS), White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV), and Taura syndrome virus (TSV) can easily attack the prawn. The existing water quality monitoring system lacks a complete solution from monitoring the pH level until autonomous remedial action is taken to control the pH level. When developing the system, no autonomous remedial action being taken to control when the pH level is out of range. Automated pH Regulator For Freshwater Prawn with Analog pH Meter Pro help farmers to monitor and control pH level in prawn tank. Logged data is stored in a personal computer for reference to prawn health. This paper proposes a conceptual framework with three (3) stages that consist of monitoring pH level with threshold data to determine pH level, provide autonomous remedial action to control the pH level in prawn tank, and logged data into a personal computer for reference. By having an Automated pH Regulator For Freshwater Prawn with Analog pH Meter Pro, immediate action can be carried out to save the prawn's life from diseases
