    A Java Multithread Audio Acquisition for Real Time Audio Surveillance

    This paper presents a real time audio acquisition using a personal computer and multiple USB microphones. When audio stream is available, audio processing techniques can be added to make a real time audio surveillance. The output of this work can be used in audio processing techniques that require audio signals from multiple microphones like source localization and source separation. The designed algorithm implements Java threads and Java sound API (Applications Programming Interface ). Two to five microphone threads were run for about 1 second. Each setup was run for 5 trials. The 2-, 3-, and 4-microphone setup provided a promising result for a given hardware specification. The maximum difference for 2- microphone setup was 939 samples or 117 milliseconds duration. For 3-microphone setup, the maximum difference was 1109 samples or 138 milliseconds duration but the two-microphone setup got equal number of samples for about 60% of the trials. For 4-microphone set-up, the maximum number of difference was 1024 samples or about 128 milliseconds but 3 microphones3 microphones got equal number of samples for about 40% of the trials. The 5-microphone setup demonstrated that system resources cannot support that much number of microphones because the one microphone got a very low number of samples compared to other 4 microphones

    Although it has become an important theme, and it is mainstreaming in national development planning system, biodiversity is still not seen as a matter of urgency. The biodiversity data of existing plants in Kalimantan is still separated and scattered in various government and private research institutions; it has not been collected in a database management system. This research is an advanced research and development of plant biodiversity information system. To date, the collections of data include 1.497 species of trees, 276 species of wood, and 233 species of medicinal plants based on traditional knowledge of 45 sub-ethnic of Dayak. Efforts to accelerate research and development of biodiversity on Borneo island needs to be driven at high speed, given the environmental changes that occur at present; we are in a race with deforestation and forest degradation. Many potentials plant species that hurried-extinct before it is discovered, only because we pursue economic growth that converts areas of tropical rainforest into oil palm plantations, agricultural land, and other plantations

    Determination of Sugar Level and the Existence of Magic Sugar in Various Beverages using a Glucose Meter with Four-Point Probe and Electrochemical Impedance

    Nowadays, people are being inconsiderate about the healthy lifestyle that might lead us to be unhealthy and be prone to developing tumors in the kidney due to some kind of sugar being used. In order to minimize these problems, the team will raise people awareness. Raising people awareness is not the same as telling them what to do. It is about giving them the knowledge to let them decide for themselves. This is why the team developed a device that can measure the sugar level and determine the existence of magic sugar in various beverages. The device is composed of two major parts: first is the circuit that will measure the impedance of a liquid sample and second, is a four-point probe, which includes a microcontroller that will display and interpret the results. The Four-point probe applies the concept of Wenner method and Electrochemical Impedance. After constructing the device, the team performed its calibration that requires different liquid samples. Based on its gathered data, different graphical representations were formulated and translated into mathematical equations in order to integrate it onto the microcontroller. Whenever the microcontroller encounters an unknown solution, it can determine the sugar level and classify the type of sugar being used

    Distributed Double Differential Space-Time Coding with Amplify-and-Forward Relaying

    This paper provides the double differentially modulated distributed space-time coding for amplify-andforward (AF) relaying cooperative communications system under time-varying fading channels. In many wireless systems, the communication terminals are mobile. In such case, frequency offsets arise subjected to Doppler’s effect and frequency mismatch amongst the terminals’ local oscillators. The double differential coding is proposed to overcome the problem of frequency offsets that present in the channel due to the rapidly fast moving nodes. The advantage of the double differential is that the scheme requires neither channel nor frequency offset knowledge for decoding process at the desired destination. However, the conventional two-codeword approach fails to perform and leads to error floor, a region where the error probability performance curve flattens for high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime in fast fading environment. Hence, a low complexity multiple-codeword double differential sphere decoding (MCDDSD) is proposed. The simulation results show that the proposed MCDDSD significantly improve the system performance in time-varying environment

    A Framework for Enhancing Digital Trust of Quranic Text Using Blockchain Technology

    The Holy Quran is the fundamental Islamic scripture revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) for the past 1400 years. In today’s Internet, there exist online sources which provide incomplete or false Quranic text which may either be published deliberately or unintentionally. The research investigates the possibility of developing a digital trust framework that secures the integrity of the Quranic text using blockchain technology. The research uses blockchain technology as the emerging secured distributed ledger to establish digital trust. The Ethereum blockchain platform was used to validate the proposed framework. The proposed digital trust framework was developed in a three-level architecture consisting of participants, digital trust and Quranic text. The key components of the proposed framework were found useful in Ethereum blockchain platform for effective use in distributed ledger, distributed consensus, smart contract, decentralized application development and cryptographic algorithms for database encryption and user authentication in Whisper, Swarm and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). The findings show the effectiveness, efficiency and usability of the proposed digital trust framework on the Ethereum blockchain platform and demonstrate how user of Quran and blockchain miner interact with the system to verify and validate Quranic content. The research has recommended the use of blockchain technology to secure the integrity of the Quranic text. The work facilitates the protection of the Quranic text as well as proving a mean to verify the authenticity of the Quranic content

    Analysis of Feature Categories for Malware Visualization

    It is important to know which features are more effective for certain visualization types. Furthermore, selecting an appropriate visualization tool plays a key role in descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics. Moreover, analyzing the activities of malicious scripts or codes is dependent on the extracted features. In this paper, the authors focused on reviewing and classifying the most common extracted features that have been used for malware visualization based on specified categories. This study examines the features categories and its usefulness for effective malware visualization. Additionally, it focuses on the common extracted features that have been used in the malware visualization domain. Therefore, the conducted literature review finding revealed that the features could be categorized into four main categories, namely, static, dynamic, hybrid, and application metadata. The contribution of this research paper is about feature selection for illustrating which features are effective with which visualization tools for malware visualization

    Recently in Indonesia appeared a new breakthrough in terms of public transport, namely online taxi that can be ordered online via smartphone or mobile telephone. This phenomenon raises some effects to the community, one of the negative effects is the income of conventional public transport drivers (commonly referred as angkot drivers) were drastically reduced. This already caused some clashes between the online taxi drivers and angkot drivers. To maintain the income of angkot drivers we need to build a management system that can provide some information to the drivers. The sufficient time to pick up passengers and how the system will provide many units of vehicles on the specific route that should operate. A stochastic is proposed a model to become a base for an information system that provides some outputs to help the angkot drivers and the transportation agencies make a right decision

    Microwave Reflection Based Dielectric Spectroscopy for Moisture Content in Melele Mango Fruit (Mangifera Indica L.)

    The Melele mango is one of the special local fruit Malaysia and it has high commercial value. However, the current methods are not efficient in determining optimum period to harvest. The optimum harvest time has close relationship with moisture content in fruit. The reflection based dielectric spectroscopic technique is conducted to measure moisture in Melele mango fruits. Dielectric and reflection measurements were conducted over a frequency range from 200 MHz to 8 GHz on clone Melele mango. Dielectric constant, loss factor and complex reflection coefficient of Melele mango with different moisture content were measured using an Agilent E8362B PNA Network Analyzer in conjunction with an Agilent 85070E High Temperature Probe over a frequency range from 200 MHz to 8 GHz. The measured reflection coefficient is presented in magnitude and phase. Dielectric constant and loss factor decreases when the moisture content in mango fruit decreases. The magnitude of the reflection coefficient descends due to increment of the dielectric constant. The results show that the measured dielectric properties and complex reflection coefficient provides the ability to predict fruit moisture content

    Dual Band Planar Microwave Sensor for Dielectric Characterization using Solid and Liquid Sample

    Dual band Complementary Folded Arm (CFA) split ring resonator is designed to determine the dielectric properties of liquid and solid materials based on resonance frequency shifting. The structure resonator is light, small and low-cost and it operates at two resonant frequencies simulated by ANSYS HFSS-15 software. The advantages of this sensor are to identify the dielectric properties of two different samples for a solid sample at 2.5GHz and several common liquids at 3.9GHz. The results show the good performance of the shift of resonance frequency at the different dielectric values and achieve the high-quality factor compared with other RF sensors with 446 and 506 respectively. Due to this, the resonator can be a highly credible sensor for bio-sensing and food quality industry

    Synthesis and Studies of Digital Frequency Modulator-demodulator with Non-Coherent Demodulator Containing a Band-pass Active Filter

    This paper presents a scientific- and practically- applied development of the digital frequency modulator-demodulator. This includes a conceptual project, synthesis and the design of its main blocks: non-coherent digital frequency demodulator containing a band-pass active filter and an amplitude detector. Results of the carried out simulation and experimental studies of developed laboratory model were presented. The paper presents a synthesis of a digital frequency demodulator model without the use of specialized components and integrated circuits available in the libraries of simulation study software. This is possible by choosing a non-coherent circuit variant. Results of the simulation and experiments indicated that the synthesis, design and modeling of the non-coherent FSK demodulator was successful
