A metáfora viva: Imagen femenina y poesía social en Ángela Figuera Aymerich
It is proposed to study the poetry of Ángela Figuera Aymerich (Bilbao, 1902-1984), an original and scarcely explored voice of the Spanish postwar period. In his poetry, topics of commitment linked to social poetry are discussed at their height in the moment of writing, with images and themes that convey testimonial affection through an eminently feminine perspective. Maternity, sexuality, the body, among others, are questions that vertebran his poetry since his first books and, however, have not been studied on the map of post-Bélic poetic discourses. In contrast, many critics or anthologies of the period omit some singularities, focusing on sections of his work that set aside gender questions. Here, it is proposed to approach its production seeking to highlight strategies, tones, topics, etc. which configures a female identity self-representation, establishing dialogues/contrasts with the predictable social role in the strongly patriarchal and ultra-catholic map of Francoism.
Characterization of the pork sector in the productive core of Argentina: a look at small producers
Pros and cons of pork production in Argentina underscore the need to have information to empower pork producers. This study characterizes three pork production strata (Small, Medium, and Large) in north Buenos Aires using surveys (n=40). We provide information on farms, management practices, infrastructure, technology and commercial activities. We found significant differences (p-value < 0.05) between strata in the use of artificial insemination and effluent treatment (mainly through lagoons and soil application) regarding infrastructure and technology. Additionally, there was a trend towards breeding in confined systems as the size of the production increased. Furthermore, despite 72.50% of surveyed producers having reported access to professional veterinary advice, we found a significant difference (p-value = 0.0167) in access between the Small (45.45%) and Large (100%) strata. Regarding commercialization, data indicated piglet sales as the predominant activity, with pig farming serving as a supplementary source of income for most producers. These findings show the need for professional intervention in smaller-scale pig farms to overcome structural barriers and access to the production chain.
Highlights:
The majority of surveyed pork producers (82.05%) relied on natural mating for breeding, with significantly greater access to artificial insemination in the Large stratum.
For the first time, information is presented on effluent disposal and/or treatment processes to reduce contaminants, along with workforce size, within the study area.
A Significant proportion of surveyed swine producers (72.50%) received veterinary advice, though there was a statistically difference between the Small and Large strata.
Predominant proportion of producers (65%) reported primarily selling piglets, with private sales prevailing in the Small and Medium stratum.Pros and cons of pork production in Argentina underscore the need to have information to empower pork producers. Obtaining a lipid extract from peach palm (Bactris gasipaes Kunth) epicarp. Quantification of carotenoid content and application as a food additive
The agro-industrial assessment of fruit by-products as food additives would allow compliance with Sustainable Development Goals. This research aimed at the homogenizer-assisted extraction of total carotenoids from peach palm (Bactris gasipaes) peel (epicarp) with sunflower oil. We also studied its application as a natural additive in white corn flour food. The response surface methodology and the rotational composite central design quantified the extraction process. The studied factors were extraction speed, temperature, time, and liquid-solid ratio. Total carotenoid content in the extract (336.06 µg/g dried epicarp) was optimized at 50°C, with 76 seconds, extraction speed of 19200 rpm, and liquid-solid ratio of 48.75 mL/g. The green extract obtained from homogenizer-assisted extraction constitutes a natural additive with agro-industrial potential for use in roasted corn cake, increasing carotenoid (30.60 µg/g of β-carotene), provitamin A (4.14 µg/g) and antioxidant activity (11.57 % DPPH).
Highlights:
Homogenizer-assisted extraction (HAE) is adequate for carotenoid extraction in peach palm epicarp.
The lipid extract from the peach palm epicarp is a source of provitamin A.

Contribuições da Hermenêutica Ricoueriana na Análise do Discurso: Ricoeur’s Contribution to Discourse Analysis
Discourse Analysis became mainstream in Organizational Studies. While some easily recognize discourse as one of the most expressive contemporary organizational phenomena, others consider its onto-epistemological and theoretical-methodological aspects to lack consistency: discourse is conceptually fragile and means virtually anything; it is epistemologically fragile as a pure reflector of reality or its universal constructor; builds false perceptions that is a simplistic way to access and understand reality objectively. In this paper, we confront these claims by proposing Ricoeur’s hermeneutics as an onto-epistemological alternative. We develop a comprehensive view of hermeneutics showing its strong connections with discourse and demonstrate how, in Ricoeur’s hermeneutics, the most elementary concepts are intimately connected to the philosophical aspects of the discourse. Finally, we explain how Ricoeur’s hermeneutics may be an epistemology for Discourse Analysis.
The article explores the intersection between Environmental Education (EE), Agroecology, and Decoloniality through the experience of the Carioca Urban Agriculture Network (Rede CAU, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). Using the methodology of Participatory Action Research (PAR), the study identifies emerging pedagogies in urban agriculture, highlighting their potential to transform socio-environmental realities. Grounded in Political Ecology and decolonial thought, the research analyzes the impacts of the agro-export and colonialist model, demonstrating how agroecology can strengthen food sovereignty and local communities. Nine pedagogical processes were identified, including community organization, knowledge exchange, political engagement, and the recognition of backyards and markets as educational spaces. By engaging with agroecology, EE enhances decolonization and resistance processes, contributing to sustainable and context-based practices. The study concludes that Rede CAU plays a crucial role in promoting socio-environmental and cognitive justice, demonstrating how urban agriculture can serve as a powerful educational tool in building more just social and environmental alternatives.
This work presents an ethnographic approach to environmental education with cultural inclusion, based on experiences in a boarding secondary school in Guanacache (Mendoza, Argentina). The research integrates academic and community knowledge around local water technology: rainwater harvesting through earth dams, a practice deeply rooted in Indigenous peasant traditions. Through students’ voices, local water access strategies are explored within a context of environmental desiccation. From a critical environmental perspective, the study pursues two main objectives: to highlight teaching and learning experiences with social and community grounding, and to propose pedagogical tools to contextualize environmental curricular content. Educational practices include case studies, dam design and model-making, group projects to create written and graphic materials, and the production of audiovisual content. These activities aim to problematize the dam as a subject of study and to foster understanding of its sociocultural significance. The research promotes a critical adaptation of the curriculum to specific contexts of environmental crisis, encouraging a transdisciplinary education that supports civic transformation and the collective development of water management solutions.
For Thomas Aquinas, man's goal is the complete actualization of his potentialities, which he achieves in this life in a progressive manner as he affirms himself more and more in the plenitude of the act of being. On the other hand, Aquinas understands eternity not in the sense of an endless life but, rather, as a life that lacks temporal succession and, moreover, that possesses full actuality. Friendships founded on virtue put man in contact with this ultimate perfection because they order it to it, producing in him, to a certain extent, a psychological experience of absence of succession when he enjoys the company of a friend. The incontinent man, who acts according to the incessant movement of his passions and whose sensitivity is dulled by the succession of images, on the other hand, frequently establishes friendships founded on mere pleasure or utility. Because they are closed to true friendship, these relationships, very common in our time, cause man more suffering than pleasure, especially because they keep him subject to the uninterrupted desire for goods that never end up satisfying him, immersing him, in a certain way, in the becoming of material things.
The objective of this article is to analyze the construction of categorical inequalities in a social segment in Córdoba del Tucumán during the sixteenth and first half of the seventeenth centuries, based on the microanalysis of healing officers’ trajectories (i. e., medical graduates, surgeons, barbers). These trajectories are studied by paying special attention to self-ascription, temporal evolution of the categorization attributed, social relationships established by these actors and the duration of their presence in the jurisdiction, as indicators of social integration in process. It is observed that the “vecindad”, as a social fact, constituted an indicator of the hierarchy within the urban community, and that the different degrees of integration of these officials were translated into a range of categories of local use and application. This constituted a specific form of inequality instituted from social relations.
The subject of memory has been a relevant field of dispute in recent decades, especially in those societies that, like Latin America, have suffered significant episodes of violence in their recent past. This article explores one of those stages using the genre of memoirs as its main source of inquiry. In particular, it studies how the dynamics of political violence that occurred during the Popular Unity government have been characterized and remembered by the main protagonists of that period through their memoirs. The analysis of these texts reveals the existence of two central themes, and continually evoked by the memorialists: its connection to the structural transformations carried out by the government of Salvador Allende and the actions of various armed groups.
