Volver al océano de la intimidad. Sobre Impureza de Marcelo Cohen
Impureza, by Marcelo Cohen, imagines a peripheral territory where the lives of the popular sectors unfold, especially focusing on the educational trajectories of young people cast into precarity, deprivation and permanent violence. This article analyzes the construction of the protagonists’ subjectivities, with their moments of rupture and transformation; and their relationships with the desires, aspirations, sensibilities and capitalist-produced models of happiness. It also explores conceptions of language, from the idea of verbal virus, which reproduces hegemonic forms of symbolic order, to the possibilities of subversion and poetic deviation. Furthermore, it examines the alternative modes of memory construction, contrasting a uniform, media-driven, and technological memory, which becomes either spectacle or religious cult, with an intimate memory, composed as a material and sensory event of strong impact. Finally, the workings of meaning are observed —between controlled containment and dissemination— through the analysis of the grammars that organize the characters’ behaviors, the compositional level of the novel and the instance of enunciation, exploring the links between language and experience, between noise and silence, between the suspension of the word and the prodigy of narration.
Comparison of fatty acid profiles of sacha inchi oil (Plukenetia huayllabambana), sesame oil (Sesamum indicum), and peanut oil (Arachis hypogaea) using two extraction methods for food purposes
Vegetable oil consumption has increased in recent decades due to the high content of monounsaturated (Omega 9) and polyunsaturated (Omega 3 and 6) fatty acids. For this reason, this research compared the fatty acid profile of sacha inchi, sesame and peanut oils under two extraction methods for food purposes. A completely randomized experimental design considered an A*B factorial arrangement with 3 repetitions. Factor A corresponds to oilseed type and Factor B is extraction method. The results showed that both factors significantly influenced (p<0.05) bromatological characteristics (pH, acidity, peroxide value, relative density and ash). The lowest concentration of saturated fatty acids was obtained in sacha inchi oil + cold pressing (6.80 g/100 g), while monounsaturated fatty acids increased in peanut oil + hot pressing (51.51 g/100 g). Sacha inchi oil + cold pressing had the highest content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (84.36 g/100 g).
Highlights:
Comparison of lipid profiles in sacha inchi, sesame, and peanut oils.
Cold extraction preserves quality, hot extraction increases yield.
Cold-pressed sacha inchi contains more polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Hot-pressed peanut is more stable and has lower acidity.
Sacha inchi provides omega-3, while peanut and sesame are more oxidation-stable.Vegetable oil consumption has increased in recent decades due to the high content of monounsaturated (Omega 9) and polyunsaturated (Omega 3 and 6) fatty acids. ¿Qué consideraciones debería tener una educación ambiental crítica? Algunas propuestas teóricas
To be able to speak of critical environmental education, this text proposes three questions and three perspectives to think about environmental education, as a theoretical proposal that seeks other edges to the classical approaches of critical theories or pedagogies. Regarding the questions that critical environmental education should ask, there are questions of the hegemonic capitalist economic rationality, the questioning of the paradigm of the development model and the questioning of monoculture. As for the perspectives from which it is possible to build a critique, the perspective of modernity/coloniality, interdependent and interrelated thinking and collaborative thinking are proposed. The main objective is to offer some minimum criteria to identify/characterize a critical environmental education and avoid co-optation by the hegemonic discourse.
From admiration I will try to decipher, based on some concepts taken from psychoanalysis, some of the keys to the magnetism that Alejandra Pizarnik's poetry provokes. I will highlight some of the recurring themes of her work (without pretensions to exhaustiveness) to think about the resonances with and from psychoanalysis, in a back and forth between her poetry and her diaries. I try to honor her relationship with writing and language through her favorite refuge, the word, the meeting point par excellence between writing and psychoanalysis.
The purpose of this article is to reflect on socio-emotional university-level student perceptions regarding various types of suffered violence and to reinforce the importance of social justice in the pursuit of career opportunities and social equality.
Brazil lives in a context of vulnerability, resulting from excessive individualization and the experiences of inequality, which Dubet (2020) has singled as the origin of “sad passions” such as anger, resentment and the indignation that is present in the daily life of different social groups.
A survey of 123 ECA/USP undergraduate-level Communication students, conducted in the city of São Paulo, detected a correlation between high levels of anxiety and exposure to intolerance, inequality and even climate change.
These results reinforce the need to promote the autonomy, empowerment and the active participation of young people in movements targeted on social transformation, highlighting the crucial role of Communication and the Culture of Peace in the educational environment.O artigo visa refletir sobre percepções socioemocionais de estudantes universitários sobre violências sofridas e busca reforçar a importância da justiça social nas igualdades de posições e de oportunidades.
We address the text Palestina en Pedazos (2022) by the chilestinian writer, Lina Meruane, to think about how the face – therefore, the social and political constructions of meanings created by the images and discourses that predominate in the mass media and its consumption - determine the lives that are worthwhile and those that are not (Judith Butler, 2004), and specifically how they are expressed in relation to palestinian identity. We use the concept of faceness proposed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari in A Thousand Plateaus (1980), who mention that the face is a politics, produced in certain places and historical moments by a social machinery of meaning, either to reinforce its significant condition or to stress it. Also, we return to the idea of Judith Butler, who follows Levinas, about the concept of a face that shows “the extreme precariousness of the other.” In this text, the palestinian identity is built not only from the collective memory and the community's own traditions, but also with the impact of the conflictive view that others (mainly Israel and the United States) print on the Arab world through various socio-political devices, such as the media. Likewise, we think about some definitions that emerge from this analysis in relation to the proposal of a profile on the social network Instagram (@hamadashoo) where content is created based on aesthetic criteria of Western dissemination and consumption that draw attention to the politics of the Palestinian face and identification.
Feeding strategies for Holando Argentino steers aimed at different markets
The objective was to evaluate the performance and meat quality of Holando Argentino (HA) steers under different feeding strategies. One hundred twenty-eight HA steers (181.4 ± 25.5 kg of live weight [LW]) were allocated to four treatments: FL: feedlot finishing during 98 days; Gr1.25: grazing with 1.25% LW/day maize grain supplementation during 235 days; Gr0.70: grazing with 0.70% LW/day maize grain supplementation during 331 days; and GrFL: 287 days grazing background and 116 days feedlot finishing. Average daily gains (ADG) were 1.14, 1.02, 0.82, and 0.81 kg/day for FL, Gr1.25, Gr0.70, and GrFL, respectively (p<0.01). Adjusted productivity ranged between 710 and 741 kg LW/ha (p>0.05). GrFL and Gr0.70 presented the highest carcass weight (CW; 288.3 ± 5.0 and 267.8 ± 12.2 kg, respectively, p<0.001). Gr0.70 presented the lowest longissimus thoracis (LT) L* (p<0.01) and the highest a* (p<0.05). Intramuscular fat was the highest for GrFL (4.86 ± 0.93%, p<0.05). In all strategies, LT shear force presented values of tender meat (29.9 ± 3.4 N, p=0.60). HA steers have the flexibility to produce tender meat under different, high-productivity strategies.
Highlights:
Holando Argentino steers produced tender meat under contrasting feeding strategies with high productivity.
Intramuscular fat content was mainly determined by total grain intake.
Grains can be used at different phases to manage live weight gains, as well as subcutaneous and intramuscular fat endpoints.
Average daily gains, fat thickness, and carcass weight influenced meat color. The objective was to evaluate the performance and meat quality of Holando Argentino (HA) steers under different feeding strategies.
This text constitutes an exercise in philosophical reflection in a holistic synthesis through a look at the significant characteristics of Dominican philosophy, from the local, regional to the universal culture, through the conjugation of ideas and philosophical problems addressed by thinkers and Dominican scholars guided by five moments: 1) scholastic ideas, rupture and continuity of enlightened reason; 2) the philosophical ideas of emancipatory reason and positivism; 3) in search of one's own philosophy and antipositivism; 4) freedom of expression, academic freedom and instrumental conscience; 5) philosophical dialogue in diversity to respect difference. Knowledge of the Dominican philosophical development constitutes a heritage to share in line with the development and hopes of Dominican society and for the common good.
