En el sendero de la inteligibilidad: Redes fonológicas y aprendizaje de vocales del inglés
Get PDFThis study examines the impact of an instructional approach grounded in the Intelligibility Principle on the production of the English vowels by Spanish-speaking translation students in Montevideo, Uruguay. Conducted within a third-year phonetics and phonology course, the research followed a quasi-experimental design with two groups: one exposed to a nativeness-oriented approach and the other to an intelligibility-based one. Quantitative data, obtained through pre- and post-tests evaluated by native and non-native English-speaking judges, revealed statistically significant improvements in the intelligibility-oriented group, particularly for the vowels /iː/ and /æ/ in voiced contexts. These results are interpreted through the lens of the Relational Network Theory, which conceptualizes language as an interconnected system where phonological nodes reorganize through learning, and the Speech Learning Model, which explains category formation in L2 acquisition. Together with the Complex Adaptive Systems Theory, these frameworks illuminate how pronunciation development emerges from the dynamic interaction between perceptual, articulatory, and cognitive processes. The findings highlight the pedagogical relevance of integrating segmental analysis and relational models to foster clearer, more intelligible pronunciation in professional language training contexts.Este estudio examina el impacto de un enfoque pedagógico basado en el Principio de la Inteligibilidad sobre la producción de las vocales del inglés por estudiantes hispanohablantes de traducción en Montevideo, Uruguay. Realizado en el marco de un curso universitario de Fonética y Fonología Inglesas, el estudio siguió un diseño cuasiexperimental con dos grupos: uno expuesto a un enfoque orientado al hablante nativo y otro a un enfoque centrado en la inteligibilidad. Los datos cuantitativos, obtenidos mediante pretest y postest evaluados por jueces nativos y no nativos de inglés, revelaron mejoras estadísticamente significativas en el grupo instruido bajo el principio de la inteligibilidad, especialmente en las vocales /iː/ y /æ/en contextos sonoros. Los resultados se interpretan a la luz de la Teoría de Redes Relacionales, que concibe la lengua como un sistema interconectado en el que los nodos fonológicos se reorganizan a través del aprendizaje, y del Speech Learning Model, que explica la formación de categorías fonéticas en L2. Junto con la Teoría de los Sistemas Adaptativos Complejos, estos marcos permiten comprender el desarrollo de la pronunciación como un proceso dinámico emergente. However, how to care for that dignity? How to save it? How to sustain oneself in a word carved and suspended in the air over which one no longer has any kind of dominion? Get PDFThis article examines the limits of urban planning in Mexico through a theoretical and empirical analysis focused on the housing sector, with special emphasis on the case of the state of Michoacán.
It begins with a review of the evolving role of the State in territorial planning, highlighting its gradual withdrawal as a development authority in favor of market actors. The study of INFONAVIT and its institutional transformation illustrates how market logic has subordinated planning efforts, consolidating monopolies such as Grupo Herso.
The analysis is enriched by the application of the AEM-I incentive model, which explores the subjective motivations of decision-makers in institutionally weak contexts. Additionally, the article identifies structural deficiencies in local urban planning systems, such as the lack of qualified technical profiles and low compliance with planning instruments.
It concludes that urban planning in Mexico faces systemic obstacles that demand the recovery of the State's strategic role and the revitalization of civil society as a transformative agent of urban space.Este artículo examina los límites de la planificación urbana en México a partir de un análisis teórico y empírico centrado en el sector vivienda, con especial énfasis en el caso del estado de Michoacán.
Se parte de una revisión de la evolución del papel del Estado en la planificación territorial, destacando su retiro progresivo como rector del desarrollo urbano en favor de actores del mercado. A través del estudio del INFONAVIT y su transformación institucional, se evidencia cómo la lógica de mercado ha subordinado el ejercicio de la planificación, consolidando monopolios como el de Grupo Herso.
El análisis se enriquece con la aplicación del modelo AEM-I de incentivos, que permite explorar las motivaciones subjetivas de quienes toman decisiones en contextos institucionalmente débiles.
Asimismo, se identifican deficiencias estructurales en los sistemas locales de planeación urbana, como la falta de perfiles técnicos adecuados y el bajo cumplimiento de los instrumentos de ordenamiento.
Se concluye que la planificación urbana en México enfrenta obstáculos sistémicos que requieren una recuperación del papel del Estado y una revalorización de la ciudadanía como agente transformador del espacio urbano

Get PDFThe aim of this study is to address the concept of truth in the thought of Saint Augustine of Hippo from a philosophical and theological perspective, as well as to analyse the pastoral work he carried out within the sociocultural context of his time. To this end, the primary sources consulted include some of the author's literary works, and historiographical studies related to his time and place.Particular emphasis has been placed on the issue of truth, as it served as the guiding principle of his thought, writings, and life. Furthermore, his orientation toward truth significantly impacted the shaping of the Christian narrative of the Roman-pagan world and strengthened the community of believers within the Christian Church.En el presente estudio se aborda el tema de la verdad en el pensamiento de San Agustín de Hipona desde el punto de vista filosófico-teológico así como su labor en el contexto sociocultural. Para ello se tomarán como fuentes primarias algunas obras literarias de San Agustín, así como trabajos historiográficos relativos la época en la que vivió.Se considera relevante abordar el tópico de la verdad por tratarse del asunto central y acuciante que motivó la búsqueda que orientó toda su vida y se plasmó en su pensamiento, obras y vida. Asimismo, la orientación hacia la verdad que adquirió su pensamiento repercutió significativamente al configurar narrativa cristiana del mundo romano y fortaleció la comunidad de fieles de la iglesia cristiana
Género y consumo digital crítico: reflexiones a partir de una experiencia transversal de investigación, docencia y extensión en comunicación y género
Get PDFThis article reflects on digital media discourses on gender based on the articulation between research, teaching and university extension in Entre Ríos and Santa Fe (Argentina). Based on ethnographic records of the experience of coordinating non-sexist communication workshops in tertiary educational institutions, we analyze emerging meanings regarding the myths about gender identities in digital culture, as well as the discomforts that come with questioning them. We point out that in addition to gender-based surveillance and control, feminist and sexual diversity discourses find conditions of production in digital mediatizations.El artículo reflexiona sobre las discursividades mediáticas digitales sobre género a partir de la articulación entre investigación, docencia y extensión universitaria en Entre Ríos y Santa Fe (Argentina). A partir de registros etnográficos de la experiencia de coordinación de talleres de comunicación no sexista en instituciones educativas de nivel terciario analizamos sentidos emergentes respecto de la mitificación de las identidades de género en la cultura digital, así como las incomodidades que trae su cuestionamiento. Señalamos que además de la vigilancia y el control sexogenérico, los discursos feministas y de la diversidad sexual encuentran condiciones de producción en las mediatizaciones digitales
Espacialidad y selectividad en Pausanias

The article tackles this problem through the spatiality of the text, considering it as key to comprehend its criteria of inclusion and exclusion. Practices, consecration of places and legitimacies related to local histories are recognized in the Periégesis’ second book. As a result, a series of ambiguities present in the text –related to the local and the Hellenic, oral and written traditions, experiences and memories- may be understood through the uses of space and its representation.Pausanias ha sido crecientemente estudiado en términos de la selectividad de objetos culturales, memorias y lugares que emplea. El artículo explora la espacialidad presente en su obra, considerándola un prisma desde el que interpretar sus criterios de inclusión o exclusión. Se analizan prácticas, modalidades de consagración de lugares y legitimidades referidas a historicidades locales que pueden ser reconocidas en el segundo libro de la Periégesis. Se sostiene que a través de estos usos del espacio y de sus representaciones resulta posible comprender una serie de ambigüedades que atraviesan al texto, en especial las que remiten a lo local y a lo helénico, a tradiciones orales y escritas y a experiencias y memorias
Nutritional characterization of Larrea divaricata Cav during winter and its potential as cattle and goats feed
Get PDFThe ever-increasing global demand for agricultural commodities and progressive climate change factors are displacing extensive beef cattle and goat ranching from temperate humid regions to peripheral regions with semi-arid characteristics. Extensive investigation is required on native desert plants to be safely incorporated into feed programs and to maintain the biodiversity and sustainability of these fragile ecosystems. Larrea divaricata is a native plant adapted to arid and semi-arid biomes of South and Western-South America. This research evaluates the nutritional composition of the browsing available canopy parts of Larrea divaricata during the winter season in a semi-arid region of Argentina. Its crude protein content resulted in 11.20% of dried matter and its soluble protein content resulted in nearly 80% of the crude protein. Acid detergent fiber fraction, ash-corrected neutral detergent fiber fraction, lignin, ash content, fat-like compounds, and non-fibrous carbohydrates resulted in 17.42, 35.51, 12.09, 9.96, 5.92 and 3.82% of dried matter, respectively. Essential bioelements Ca, Mg and K resulted within standard forage requirements. Total polyphenols and flavonoids resulted in 430 mg/g and 140 mg/g, respectively. These results demonstrate that Larrea divaricata can be an effective complement for winter-feeding beef cattle and goats in arid and semi-arid regions.

Net Protein Requirements for Maintenance and Weight gain in Male Guinea Pigs (Cavia porcellus) of the Peru Breed
Get PDFNet protein requirements for weight gain (NPg) and maintenance (NPm) in meat-producing guinea pigs are not yet established. The objective of this study was to estimate the requirements for NPm and NPg in male guinea pigs of the Peru breed using the comparative slaughter method. Sixty guinea pigs with an initial body weight (BW) of 393 ± 55 g were distributed in five groups of 12 animals. The animals were fed a pelleted diet. At the beginning of the experiment, a reference group with a BW 385.9 ± 44.5 g was slaughtered. Two groups were fed ad libitum, another group received 75% of the feed provided to the ad libitum groups, and a fifth group was kept at the maintenance level. One of the ad libitum-fed groups was slaughtered when its BW reached 846.6 ± 48 g. The other animals, distributed according to their feeding level, were slaughtered when the second ad libitum-fed group reached 1197 ± 84 g BW. The NPm requirement was 3.97 g/kg/EBW0.75 (empty body weight). And the requirement was NPg 2.5 g/kg EBW0.75. The protein use efficiency was 0.629.
