The integration of a culture of peace in organizations is necessary, relevant, urgent, and an ethical duty. The article develops an argumentative proposal that highlights the importance of this involvement, focusing on two key aspects: the connection between sustainable development and peace, and the new role of communication and trust-building. The aim is to create communities of mutual interest that co-create solutions to promote a more just and peaceful society. This proposal is based on ethical principles, human rights, moral imagination, and an understanding of the dynamics of conflict, violence, and hatred.
This article is part of a broader investigation that explores the narratives of fear among university students in Costa Rica, analyzing how these emotions affect their lives, social relationships, and their ability to exercise citizenship. Through a comprehensive literature review, various dimensions of fear are identified, including its relationship with anxiety, stress, insomnia, and the perception of insecurity in both academic and social contexts. The reviewed studies highlight the importance of factors such as time and space in the experience of fear, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, significant correlations between fear and variables such as exposure to crime-related news, social media use, and anxiety are examined, revealing a substantial impact on students' decision-making and well-being. The research also underscores the crucial role of gender. However, methodological limitations in the reviewed studies are noted, particularly concerning the use of probabilistic sampling, which restricts the generalizability of the findings. Throughout this article, the identified results are put into dialogue with the perspective of social justice.
Engaging with the works of contemporary critical theorists such as Axel Honneth, Nancy Fraser and Rainer Forst and based on a series of research activities conducted with young Brazilian students, we argue that the discussion around positive peace, understood as social justice, needs to go beyond of the material and redistributive dimension originally thought by Johan Galtung. Noting that various forms of indirect violence are expressed in the cultural sphere, not reflecting redistributive concerns stricto sensu, we argue for a theoretical refinement of the nexus between peace and social justice to incorporate issues of recognition.

With an insistence that is evident in the testimonies of his contemporaries, but mainly in a set of interventions in the press written by the author, Fogwill strove to open a place for himself in the Argentine literary field of the 1980s. It was not just any place but rather a specific and clearly demarcated one through a series of operations that included the early explanation of certain affiliations, the editorial dimension (the creation of the Tierra Baldía press together with Osvaldo Lamborghini and Oscar Steimberg), the controversies he held with other writers and the deliberate attempt to install new readings. In terms of the distribution of cultural formations in the context of the 70s and 80s in Argentina, the place in which Fogwill worries about inserting himself to develop his literary project from there is the one that could be located at the point of convergence between Literal and Babel. We maintain that the set of actions carried out by Fogwill to position his literary work was guided by an ethics of writing, which was based, in turn, on a certain autonomist ideal of literature.
Milk Production, Age at First Calving, and Calving-to-Conception Interval in Holstein, Brown Swiss, and Holstein x Brown Swiss Cows
The objective of this study was to evaluate milk production, age at first calving, and calving to conception interval in Holstein, Brown Swiss, and Holstein x Brown Swiss crossbred cows within a pasture-based dairy system in Argentina. The increasing global demand for more resilient and locally adapted dairy systems has led to a renewed interest in crossbreeding to enhance both reproductive and productive efficiency through heterosis. We analyzed data collected over 10 years (2014-2023) from 647 first-lactation cows, including Holstein, Brown Swiss, and Holstein x Brown Swiss crossbred cows. Data were examined using a mixed-effects linear model with breed, season, and their interactions as fixed effect and year as random effect. The results showed no significant differences in milk production between breeds or seasons. However, a significant interaction between breed and season was observed for the calving-to-conception interval, with a shorter interval for crossbred cows during spring-summer (102 days), compared to Holstein cows (156 days). This finding highlights a potential advantage of crossbreeding in reducing open days during the warmest months, thereby enhancing reproductive efficiency in pasture-based systems. This study suggests that crossbreeding can be a viable strategy for improving reproductive performance of dairy systems while maintaining similar milk yield compared to the other breeds, particularly in grazing systems.
Highlights:
Crossbreeding is increasingly considered in Argentina to improve resilience and efficiency in pasture-based dairy systems.
Milk yield, age at first calving, and calving-to-conception interval in 647 first-lactation cows over a ten-year period were evaluated.
No significant differences were found among breeds (Holstein, Brown Swiss cows and their cross) for milk yield or age at first calving.
A significant interaction between breed and season was detected for calving-to-conception interval.
Crossbred cows showed a shorter calving-to-conception interval than Holstein cows during spring and summer (102 versus 156 days). The objective of this study was to evaluate milk production, age at first calving, and calving to conception interval in Holstein, Brown Swiss, and Holstein x Brown Swiss crossbred cows within a pasture-based dairy system in Argentina.
The history of philosophy in Panama during the 20th century is closely linked to the Instituto Nacional (1907) and the Universidad de Panamá (1935). The text highlights the figure of José Dolores Moscote, an influential philosopher and educator who played a crucial role in the institutionalization of philosophy in Panamanian education. At the Instituto Nacional, Moscote promoted the teaching of philosophy in a secular context, aiming to provide students with a comprehensive education that included moral and civic aspects. The Universidad de Panamá, founded in 1935, faced challenges in training qualified professionals, benefiting from the migration of European intellectuals due to crises in their countries. Paul Honigsheim, a prominent German philosopher, was instrumental in creating the first philosophy programs. Over the decades, the university produced significant graduates, such as Julio Barba and Diego Domínguez Caballero, who contributed to the development of Panamanian philosophy. The text also mentions the importance of various philosophical journals and associations that emerged to promote the study and reflection of philosophy in the country. Despite obstacles, philosophy in Panama has evolved, and its development has been linked to educational institutions that have allowed for its professionalization.
The confluence between technology and the university is investigated to question the models of the university and the humanities that are based on the opposition between knowledge and technology. For this debate are relevant the approaches of Posthumanisms, Philosophies of technology and Situated thinking. We begin by presenting approaches by Simondon, Stiegler and Derrida about the relationship between anthropogenesis and technogenesis. From these theories, it is problematized the pretension of something original outside of technology, the establishment of the foundational limits of the human and the humanities in opposition to their others. We conclude that, instead of delimitation and separation due to insurmountable oppositions, technique and episteme, humanities and technology have maintained a long and necessary relationship as a network of artifacts or sociotechnical networks in which interaction and codependency are unavoidables conditions.
