    Evaluation of role of Jasminum sambac against ulcerative colitis in rats

    Current investigation is designed to find out the role of Jasminum sambac (JS) against Acetic Acid (AA)-induced ulcerative colitis in rats. 30 male albino Wistar rats were randomly separated into 5 batches (n=6): normal: admitted with distilled water for 7 days; negative: received the distilled water for 1- 3 days and from 4-7 days received the 2 mL of AA (4% v/v) rectally; test 1, 2 and standard group: orally received the ethanolic extract of leaves of Jasminum sambac (EEJS) at doses 250, 500 mg/kg and prednisolone 2 mg/kg from 1-3 days without AA and from 4-7 days received the 2 mL of 4% v/v AA rectally after 2 h administration of EEJS and prednisolone. On 8th day rats were sacrificed and colon tissues were examined. Rats with acetic acid-induced colitis exhibited significant decrease in body weight, colon length, superoxide dismutase, catalase, reduced glutathione, significant rise in colon weight, oedema, disease activity index, macroscopic damage score, occult blood in stool, stool consistency and lipid peroxidation. Pre-treatment with EEJS at doses 250, 500 mg/kg orally significantly regularized the above-mentioned parameters in dose dependent manner. Ethanolic extract of Jasminum sambac could protect the AA-produced ulcerative colitis by attenuation of macroscopic damage, microscopic damage, and oxidative biomarkers

    Splendid Kaudi art - A sustainable enterprise for empowerment of rural women

    The Kaudi art is one of the oldest folk art practised among women folk of Northern Karnataka and is also called as Grandmothers’ art. It is prepared by old and used cloth swatches which unfolds the creativity of woman folk through their magnificent skill and imagination with thousands of stitches which depict the traditional folklore. In recent years this craft is slowly fading due to reduced commercial value and lack of interest among the present young generation. Therefore, revival of Kaudi art through value addition is a need of the hour for its sustainability. Hence, the present study is taken up with the objective for revival and restructure of traditional Kaudi for empowering the rural women and it comprised of historical documentation, restructuring of traditional Kaudi designs with design elements, organization of principles and skill development training programmes for rural women. Variegated home textiles were designed with Kaudi stitches and subjected to consumer acceptability. It was seen that among the home textiles developed, the yoga mat was found to be a trendy item as expressed by the consumers due to its usefulness and comfort properties. It was noticed that the perception towards traditional Kaudi art improved remarkably and consumers were convinced on various aspects viz., product diversification through restructuring, design element, principles of design for production of variegated Kaudi articles and its promotional techniques. Value addition to traditional Kaudi through variegated home textiles was found to be the best means for promotion of Kaudi technique, its sustainability and rural entrepreneur can help to establish start ups and microenterprise with minimum investment

    Quality control and HPTLC analysis of a polyherbal Unani formulation Habb-i-Shahtara recommended for skin diseases

    The Unani system of medicine (USM) is one of the popular traditional systems of medicine. World widely, this system of medicine becomes an important health care system. Since many years back Unani medicines were used by the Unani physicians for treating the diseases ailments. In USM most of the drugs are of plant origin and their therapeutic effects are due to the presence of active phytochemicals. The proper standardization methods must be necessary for preparation of formulations otherwise secondary metabolites or active constituents might not be up to the quality. The standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are adopted for the preparation of Unani formulation. This study evaluated the quality of polyherbal unani formulation Habb-i-Shahtara, which is used in the treatment of skin diseases. The standardization parameters which were used for the development of quality standard of the study formulation were pharmacognostical studies, physicochemical and phytochemical parameters, HPTLC analysis, microbial load, aflatoxins, heavy metals and pesticide residues determination to evaluate the pharmacopoeial standard. The polyherbal Unani formulation Habb-i-Shahtara have been successfully standardized and the data and procedures which were used may serve the guidelines and standard reference in future for the preparation of formulation and for further study

    Protective effect of loboob (a Persian traditional remedy) on sexual hormones, antioxidant activities and stereological changes of testis tissue on busulfan induced oligospermia in rats

    Loboob as a traditional drug in Iranis known for its beneficial effects on busulfan-induced oligospermia. In this experimental study, protective effects of loboob (a Persian traditional remedy) on sexual hormones, antioxidant levels and stereological changes of testis tissue were evaluated in an oligospermia rat model induced by busulfan. Fifty male rats were randomly divided into five different groups: control, received no treatments; and the other groups administrated with a single dose of busulfan (10 mg/kg body weight). After 30 days, these groups were treated with 0, 35, 70 or 140 mg/kg/day of loboob for 60 days. Blood samples were collected for hormone and antioxidant enzyme assays. Unbiased stereology was performed on testis tissues to evaluate the volume of different parts of the testis and the number of various testis cells. Data indicated that FSH, LH and MDA were increased, and testosterone, catalase, SOD were decreased in the busulfan group, while treatment with loboob at 70 and 140 mg/kg significantly improved these parameters (P <0.05). Treatment with 70 and 140 mg/kg of loboob ameliorated the germinal epithelium volume, types A and B spermatogonia, spermatocytes, elongated and round spermatids, and Sertoli cells in the seminiferous tubules (P <0.05). High concentration of loboob also improved testis weight and volume, and leydig cell number (P <0.05). Thus, loboob is more effective for the recovery of seminiferous tubules and their cells than for the interstitial tissue. Loboob with various antioxidants, minerals and vitamins could overcome the side effects of busulfan

Mainly citing the recent and existing pandemic, the need for Industry Internet of Things (IIoT), automation, digitalization, and induction of machine learning techniques for forecasting and prediction have been the technologies to rely on. On these lines, digitization and automation in the healthcare industry have been practical tools to accelerate diagnosis and provide handy second opinions to practitioners. Sustainability in health care has several objectives, like reduced cost and low emission rate, while promising effective outcomes and ease of diagnosis. In this paper, such an attempt has been made to employ deep learning techniques to predict the phase of brain tumors. The deep learning methods help practitioners to correlate patients' status with similar subjects and assess and predict future anomalies due to brain tumors. Popular datasets have been employed for modeling the prediction process. Machine learning has been the most successful tool for handling supervised classification while dealing with complex patterns. The study aims to apply this machine learning technique to classifying images of brains with different types of tumors: meningioma, glioma, and pituitary. The simulation is performed in a python environment, and analysis is carried out using standard metrics

    Machine Learning-Based Cooperative Spectrum Sensing in A Generalized α-κ-μ Fading Channel

    An improvement in spectrum usage is possible with the help of a cognitive radio network, which allows secondary users’ access to the unused licensed frequency band of a primary user. Thus, spectrum sensing is a fundamental concept in cognitive radio networks. In recent years, Cooperative spectrum sensing using machine learning has garnered a great deal of attention as a technique of enhancing sensing capability. In this study, K-means clustering is taken into consideration for the purpose of analyzing the effectiveness of cooperative spectrum sensing in a generalized α-κ-μ fading channel. The proposed approach is examined using receiver operating characteristic curves to determine its performance. The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is contrasted with that of the existing detection techniques such as Cooperating spectrum sensing based on energy detection and OR-fusion-based cooperative spectrum sensing for fading channels κ-μ, α-κ-μ. As demonstrated by results, the proposed method outshines an existing method in terms of comparison parameters, as determined by simulation results in the MATLAB version

Structures of the synthesized compounds have been assessed by infra-red, NMR and mass spectroscopic methods. The title compounds have been screened for their antibacterial, antibiofilm and time kill studies. The molecules 5f, 5b, 5e, 5c and 3b have shown excellent activity and remaining compounds have also been found to exhibit moderate activity against the test organisms employed

    A range of novel 5-substituted-pyridine-2-carboxamides have been designed and synthesized by microwave-assisted solution phase synthesis in neat water. Their structures have been confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and LCMS analysis. The present work describes a simple, rapid, and efficient synthesis of compound 2a-2h in good yield under mild reaction condition. Shorter reaction time and convenient workup make this methodology more practical. This protocol proceeds smoothly and avoids the use of toxic organic solvents. ADMET analysis have been performed for all the synthesized compounds and observed that all the eight compounds taken for the investigation have been shown to satisfy Lipinski's rule of 5. The molecular interaction study is performed using the AutoDock software. All the 8 test compounds are found to have higher binding affinity than the control compound chloramphenicol to the E. Coli DraE adhesion. In addition antibacterial activities of all eight compounds have been determined

    Triazole-based C3-symmetric multivalent dendritic architecture as Cu(II) ion sensor

    C3-symmetric triazole-based multivalent dendritic architecture having uniform aromatic core and branches has been employed to study its metal binding ability towards Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions. The dendritic architecture is found to exhibit a high affinity for Cu(II) ions and formed a solid complex with a blue shift in the dd-band of Cu(II) chloride. X-band EPR spectra at low temperature has supported a distorted tetrahedral geometry for the complex. The complex has displayed quasi-reversible redox waves in cyclic voltammetry (CV). DFT calculations have shown that Cu(II) has a high affinity for the dendritic structure, leading to high complexation energies of the order of -25 eV, showing that the complexation reactions are highly exothermic. The binding constant (K) for the Cu(II) complex has been determined using a fluorescence titration method

    On the one side, trademark owners must be proactive in protecting their trademark from other trademarks to prevent their trademark from becoming generic. However, on the other side, it can cause negative effects for the community, especially trademark owners who are categorized as small business owners. The act of trademark owners excessively protecting their trademarks by accusing small businesses of violating their trademark is termed “trademark bullying”. This article's discussion will focus on a number of important goals. In addition, it will provide explanations and definition of trademark bullying, as well as identifying preventing and overcoming trademark bullying in Indonesia. It can be concluded that trademark bullying has occurred in Indonesia. The disputed issue is the use of a common word that the trademark owner considers an essential element of his/her trademark. To prevent trademark bullying that takes issue with the use of the common word of a brand, Indonesian government must start making regulations on descriptive fair use defense in order to provide legal certainty and healthy business competition. To be able to overcome trademark bullying, victims can try shaming the trademark bullies. It is considered quite effective and can make trademark bullies rethink in sending cease-anddesist letter or lawsuit against small business owners
