    GOOGLE TRANSLATE: A TOOL FOR TEACHING RECOUNT PARAGRAPH WRITING TO EFL STUDENTS

    This study investigated the effectiveness of using Google Translate as a tool to teach recount text writing to EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students in the second grade of MTs At-Thohiriyah, a junior high school in Jember, East Java, Indonesia. The study, conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach, analyzed data collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis. The findings revealed that Google Translate was an effective tool for teaching recount text writing, helping students understand the structure of recount texts, expand vocabulary, improve grammatical accuracy, and increase motivation and interest in learning. The study also explored the challenges and limitations of using Google Translate in language learning and provided recommendations for educators seeking to integrate technology into their language teaching practices

    This study aims to determine the effect of liquidity, company size leverage on profitability in automotive sub-sector manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange 2017-2020. This type of research is quantitative. This research was conducted using research objects in automotive sub-sector manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange 2017-2021. The research data used is from 2017 to 2021 with 50 samples. The data used in this research is secondary data. The technique used is the document technique with panel data regression analysis using the eviews program. The results showed that: There is no significant effect of liquidity on profitability in automotive subsector manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2017-2021 period with a tcount of 0.720 0.05: There is no influence of leverage on profitability in Automotive subsector manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2017-2021 period with a tcount of -1.422 0.05; There is no effect of company size on profitability in automotive sub-sector manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2017-2021 period with a tcount of -0.197 0.05; There is no effect of liquidity, leverage and company size together on profitability in automotive subsector manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2017-2021 period with an Fcount of 2.457 0.0

    The lack of learning achievement of students at SMK Negeri 1 Kupang X Institutional Financial Accounting is a problem that will be researched. The purpose of this research is to look at the impact of independent learning and parental attention on student learning outcomes. The method used for this research is quantitative with an ex-post facto approach. The population in this research was 148, while the sample for this research was 108 students obtained using the Slovin formula. The instrument used to measure student learning outcomes is a questionnaire with 30 questions. In accordance with the results of the study above, results were obtained which showed that learning independence had a good and large influence on learning outcomes (8.757>1.891 and 0.0001.891 and 0.0003.08 and 0.000<0.05)

    The Influence of Social Media on The Spiritual and Social Life of Christian Teenagers

    The use of social media in teaching Christianity is an important topic in the current digital era. This article aims to understand the impact of social media on the formation of individual spiritual identity. Social media has an important role in expanding access to information, building religious communities, and facilitating interaction between Christians. However, there are negative impacts that need to be watched out for, especially for Christian teenagers, such as reduced study time, disturbed concentration at school, decreased morale, unwise use of money, and negative impacts on health. This article advocates using social media wisely by managing time, choosing useful content, and prioritizing faith growth. A holistic approach in Christian religious education is needed to integrate spiritual values with a deep understanding of technology. Thus, the use of social media can be optimized as a means that supports spiritual growth and the formation of a strong Christian identity

    Bridging the Gap: An Investigation of Students' needs and Teacher Readiness in English teaching for Business Purpose

    This study is conduced based on the new liberal arts research project in University A, and this study tries to explore students’ actual needs and investigating the preparation of conducting the English teaching for business purpose. The mixed research method, including both quantitative and qualitative method, is used in this research. A semi-structured interview outline and a 5-point Likert scale are used as the research instruments. 5 students are invited to do the interview, to further understand their actual needs towards teaching English with a business purpose. 98 participants including teachers, experts and education administrators are invited to conduct the questionnaire survey to explore the preparation of conducting the English teaching for business purpose. The results show that all the students are highly willing to learn English for business purposes, as they believe learning English for business purposes can contribute to future career development, enhance the pertinence of English learning and expand the depth of professional learning. What’ more, the teaching policy for conducting the English teaching for business purpose is well-prepared, but requirements like teaching materials, the arrangement of the course structure, teacher competence, and evaluation system are need for further improvement

    The purpose of this research was to develop a Dayak Legend Storybook as supplementary materials for Ninth-year students. The basic thought underlying this study was to provide teachers and students with a Dayak legend story based on their background. The storybook was developed in five stages: analysis; design; development; implementation; and evaluation (ADDIE). The data was obtained through questionnaires, interviews, checklists, and field notes. Based on the findings, the storybook is worth utilizing due to its usefulness and the positive responses were given by the students, teacher, and validators to the contents. In conclusion, this study was successful in developing a qualified Dayak Legend Storybook as supplementary materials for Ninth year students

    Pengembangan E-Handout Berbasis Video Materi Virus Pada Fase E SMA/MA

    The independent learning curriculum is interpreted design that is able to provide opportunities for students to learn more calmly and happily. The implementation of an independent curriculum is certainly a challenge for teachers to be able to create an atmosphere that is able to arouse students' enthusiasm in learnin, one of which is creating teaching materials. E-Handout is a written teaching material that is used to assist teachers and students in facilitating the acquisition of knowledge, but the difference is that E-handout is presented in the form of an Android application in the APK format. This study aims to create valid and practical e-handouts. This study uses a 4-D development model which consists of 4 stages, namely: Define, Design, Develop and Dessesminate. it was done that the validation value of the e-handout was developed to be very valid (91.15%). The results of practicality tests conducted by 2 Biology teachers on the developed e-handout were very practical (98.66%) and by 30 Phase E students very practical (92.40%). From the results of the validation test and practicality test, it was concluded that e-handout based on viral video materials in Phase E SMA/MA is very valid and very practical

    IMPROVING STUDENTS' SKILL IN WRITING RECOUNT TEXTS THROUGH PICTURE SERIES

    This research aimed to describe how picture series improved students’ skill in writing recount text. This research was conducted to Year-8 students of SMPN 01 Semparuk in Academic Year 2023/2024. The students in class VIII B that consist of 23 students were the subject of this research. The method used in this research was Classroom Action Research which has been conducted in two cycles. The researcher used observation checklist table, field notes and writing test as the tools of data collection in this research, and the data has been analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively by referring to the result of tools of data collection. The finding showed that the use of picture series improved students’ skill in writing recount text. Students’ participation, students’ mastery of writing recount text, students’ writing test score and class situation had a better improvement from the first cycle to the second cycle. It could be concluded that students’ skill in writing recount text through picture series improved

    AN ANALYSIS OF TYPES AND CONTEXTS OF DIRECTIVE SPEECH ACTS IN HOWARD AND BUSH’S ENCANTO MOVIE

    The aspect of Directive Speech Acts can be analyzed through movie in order to find out how they are used in everyday situations. The result might be useful for learners whose first language is not English. In order to find out types and contexts of Directive Speech Acts in a movie, this research aims to analyze types and contexts of Directive Speech Acts used in Howard and Bush’s Encanto Movie. The research method is descriptive qualitative research. The instrument of this research is audio-visual material and script of Encanto movie. The data were analyzed by using thematic analysis. The analysis about types of Directive Speech Acts is based on Searle’s theory and the context of Directive Speech Acts is based on Dell Hymes’s theory called SPEAKING MODEL as the reason in all produced utterance. The results of analysis show there are 10 types of Directive Speech Acts found in this movie. The most dominant types are commanding (23 data), questioning (19 data), and ordering (16 data), meanwhile, the less dominant type is prohibiting (1 data). The finding about the contexts of Directive Speech Acts shows 8 aspects of context in this movie. As the implication of this study, English teachers are expected to attract students’ interest in watching movie for outside classroom activities in order to learn the appropriate use of directive speech acts

    The Flash Cards for Increase Ability Long Term Memory

    The brain consists of the right and left hemispheres. The brain is divided into three regions, namely: forebrain (frontal), midbrain (parietal), back brain (occipital). The most important process in the brain is during the growth or myelination period. Environment influences brain plasticity. Memory or memories in the brain occur due to changes in synaptic connections, the formation of episodic memory depends on the hippocampus. To store information in long-term memory, the limbic system or mammalian brain, namely the hippocampus, plays a very important role. To be able to develop this process, media is needed to speed it up, one of which is flash cards which have a recall principle. The method used is qualitative with a literature study approach. The results of this study show that there is a relationship between the use of flash cards and the brain's ability to improve long-term memory processing. Apart from that, the results of a literature study found that flash cards have been proven to improve long-term memory abilities and can make learning more enjoyable. In this way, student learning outcomes also increase which can be seen from the percentage of learning outcomes
