SYMBOLISM AND SOCIAL CLASS CONFLICT IN ”THE PLATFORM” : A QUALITATIVE CONTENT ANALYSIS
No full textThis study provides a comprehensive analysis of the film "The Platform" through the lens of Marxist critique, focusing on its portrayal of social classes and the impact of the capitalist system on social relations. Using a qualitative content analysis approach, the study examines the film's symbolic elements, metaphorical significance, and key dialogues and interactions. The findings reveal how the vertical prison structure symbolizes social hierarchy, with opulent banquets for the upper levels and scraps for the lower levels representing wealth disparity. The random assignment of prisoners each month illustrates the arbitrary nature of social mobility in capitalist societies. Additional symbols, such as Miharu’s search for her child and the act of sending the child back to the top, highlight themes of exploitation and the potential for revolutionary change. The study also explores the metaphorical significance of the vertical prison, critiquing the illusion of meritocracy and the systemic barriers to social advancement. Key dialogues emphasize social tensions, power dynamics, and ethical dilemmas faced by individuals within an exploitative system. This detailed examination extends previous research by providing a nuanced understanding of how "The Platform" critiques capitalist ideologies and highlights systemic social inequalities. The study underscores the film's significance as a critique of capitalist social structures and its potential to inspire discourse on social justice and equity. THE IMPACT OF USING A SCIENTIFIC APPROACH ON READING COMPREHENSION OF SEVEN-GRADE STUDENTS
No full textThe objective of this research was to examine the effects of using a scientific approach on the development of reading comprehension abilities among students in the seventh grade. The objective of this research was to ascertain the importance of using a scientific approach within the realm of reading comprehension. The current experimental study was carried out among a class of seventh-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 57 Medan during the academic year 2022-2023. The study population included a total of 47 students. The research used a random sample methodology. The experimental class for this research was designated as VII C and was subjected to the implementation of the scientific approach strategy. In contrast, the control class, VII A, was selected for the study and used the reading technique. The data gathering instrument was a blend of multiple-choice and essay forms. The data was obtained from pre-test and post-test evaluations of the pupils. A statistically significant difference was seen in the mean scores of students between the pre-test experimental class and the post-test experimental class. The data is shown by a two-tailed p-value of 0.000, which is lower than the preset significance threshold of 0.5. As a result, the incorporation of scientific methodology in educational research has a significant impact on the level of competency pupils have in reading and interpreting narrative texts. This, in turn, facilitates the enhancement of their analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are essential for their overall development.

The data of the research is the content of printed advertisement that focus on kinds of advertisement structure. The reseach design is descriptive qualitative research design. The result of this reeach, there are not all general structure of advertisement by Cheong theory occur in the printed advertisement “Burger King”.
AN IMAGINARY LAUGHTER: THE PORTRAYAL OF POLITICAL CARTOONS IN INDONESIAN MAGAZINE COVERS
No full textThis study employs critical discourse analysis to examine how political cartoons are portrayed on Indonesian magazine covers. The study aims to explore how political cartoons construct and reinforce dominant ideologies, satirize political figures, and engage with societal issues. Using a qualitative approach, the study examines visual and textual elements in selected magazine covers, specifically Tempo. The study scrutinizes humor, symbolism, and caricature as rhetorical devices to convey political messages and critique power structures. It also investigates how cartoons use the synergy between image and text to shape public opinion and influence political discourse. The study’s findings reveal how political cartoons on magazine covers serve as a platform for dissent, challenging dominant narratives and providing alternative perspectives. Admittedly, the analysis uncovers the strategies used by cartoonists to navigate the boundaries of freedom of expression in a politically charged environment. This study offers valuable insights into the visual representation of political cartoons on Indonesian magazine covers, contributing to critical discourse analysis. It highlights the potential of cartoons as tools for social critique and democratic engagement, providing a deeper understanding of the role of humor and satire in political communication
IMPROVING MAGGOT CULTIVATION SKILLS TO ENHANCE FAMILY ECONOMY IN THE WOMEN FARMERS GROUP (KWT) BUNDA ATIRAH IN SURAU GADANG, NANGGALO DISTRICT, PADANG CITY
No full textThe Women Farmers Group (KWT) Bunda Atirah in Surau Gadang, Nanggalo District, Padang City, plays a significant role in enhancing family economy through various activities. This group has successfully engaged in hydroponic farming, poultry farming, and growing secondary crops. Additionally, KWT Bunda Atirah has taken steps to manage organic waste by cultivating maggots, which are used as an alternative feed in livestock and aquaculture. The demand for maggots as fish feed in Lake Maninjau reaches 2.5 tons per month, presenting an opportunity for KWT members. However, the lack of expertise and information has hindered the implementation of maggot cultivation. To address these challenges, a Community Partnership Program (PKM) with the assistance of lecturers from the Applied Biology and Biology Education Study Program of PGRI University Sumatera Barat (UPGRISBA) was initiated. The program involves providing maggot eggs, constructing maggot cages, and training KWT members in maggot cultivation. The training, attended by 23 KWT members, was well received and is expected to inspire the community to manage organic waste and generate income through maggot cultivation.

No full textPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis : 1) pengaruh minat belajar terhadap prestasi belajar siswa, 2) pengaruh minat belajar terhadap prestasi belajar siswa, 3) pengaruh perhatian orang tua terhadap prestasi belajar siswa, 4) pengaruhbimbingan belajar terhadap prestasi belajar siswa, 5) pengaruh bimbingan belajar terhadap prestasi belajar siswa, 6) pengaruh lingkungan sekolah terhadap prestasi belajar siswa secara bersama-sama mempengaruhi prestasi belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa : minat belajar berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI IPS di SMA N 1 Solok. Minat baca berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI IPS di SMA N 1 Solok. Perhatian orang tua berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI IPS di SMA N 1 Solok. Bimbingan belajar berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI IPS di SMA N 1 Solok. No full textPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan pengaruh penggunaan model Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Terhadap Kemampuan Menulis Cerpen Berdasarkan Nilai Dalam Hikayat Siswa Kelas X SMAN 1 X Koto Kabupaten Tanah Datar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen. Desain penelitian ini adalah Posttest Only Control Design. Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut ini. Pertama, kemampuan menulis cerpen berdasarkan nilai dalam hikayat siswa kelas X SMAN 1 X Koto Kabupaten Tanah Datar tanpa menggunakan model Cooperative Integrated reading and composition (CIRC) memperoleh nilai 79,17 berada pada rentangan 76-85% dengan kualifikasi lebih dari baik. Kedua, kemampuan menulis cerpen berdasarkan nilai dalam hikayat siswa kelas x SMAN 1 X Koto Kabupaten Tanah datar dengan menggunakan model CIRC memperoleh nilai 84,17 berada pada rentangan 76-85% dengan kualifikasi baik. Ketiga, berdasarkan uji-t terdapat pengaruh penggunaan model CIRC terhadap kemampuan menulis cerpen berdasarkan nilai dalam hikayat siswa kelas X SMAN 1 X Koto Kabupaten Tanah Datar karena karena thitung > ttabel yaitu (5,21 >1,68), maka H0 ditolak H1 diterima. Dengan demikian penggunaan model Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan menulis cerpen berdasarkan nilai dalam hikayat siswa kelas X SMAN 1 X Koto Kabupaten Tanah Datar

No full textPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Penggunaan Media Pembelajaran Crossword Puzzle terhadap Hasil Belajar Peserta Didik Pada Pembelajaran Sosiologi Di Kelas F9 SMAN 6 Merangin Provinsi Jambi. Jenis penelitian menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif dengan bentuk prestest dan posttest desain. Data diambil menggunakan tes objektif dan angket. Teori penelitian ini ialah teori Konstruktivisme milik Jean Piaget. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan pada tes yaitu Uji Normalitas, Uji Homogenitas, dan Uji Hipotesis, Sedangkan untuk teknik analisis data yang digunakan pada angket yaitu Uji Mann-Whitney. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: Hasil data prestest dan posttest memperoleh hasil pengujian Uji Test dengan taraf signifkasi 5% sebesar 0,001. Ini berarti rhitung > rtabel sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh antara dua variable. Untuk hasil data angket memperoleh hasil pengujian Mann- Whitney dapat diketahui bahwa terdapat pengaruh antara hasil belajar dengan penggunaan media pembelajaran, hal ini dapat ditunjukkan oleh nilai signigikansi yang diperoleh yaitu <0,001, nilai ini lebih kecil dari pada alfa yaitu 0,05, sehingga keputusan yang dihasilkan H1 yang menunjukkan bahwa adanya pengaruh antara Penggunaan Media Pembelajaran Crossword Puzzle terhadap Hasil Belajar Peserta Didik
The Effect of Total Asset Turnover, Debt to Equity Ratio, Current Ratio, and Capital Structure on Profitability in State Owned Companies listed on IDX
No full textThis quantitative research examines the relationship between profitability and total asset turnover of SOEs listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2018 to 2021. In addition, this study examines the relationship between debt ratios and profitability of SOEs listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. 2018-2021 and the relationship between current SOE profitability. In this study, twenty companies were used as samples, and a saturated sampling method was used, so that a total of 80 data samples were obtained. This study uses descriptive analysis. The results show that capital structure, total assets turnover, debt to equity ratio, and current ratio all have a positive impact on profitability.
KEMAMPUAN REPRESENTASI MATEMATIKA PADA MATA KULIAH KALKULUS PEUBAH BANYAK MELALUI MODEL PEMBELAJARAN SITUATION BASED LEARNING
No full textKemampuan representasi matematika berkaitan dengan cara peserta didik dalam mengungkapkan ide dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika. Dalam mata kuliah kalkulus banyak, mahasiswa diharapkan memiliki kemampuan ini agar lebih mudah menyelesaikan soal yang memiliki tingkat kesulitan dalam memahami soal. Pendekatan pembelajaran matematika berbasis situasi atau Situation Based Learning dapat membantu mahasiswa dalam meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematika. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode eksperimen pada mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan matematika Universitas Indraprasta PGRI semester 6 tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 70 mahasiswa yang terbagi menjadi 2 kelas yaitu kelas R6A yang diajarkan dengan pembelajaran berbasis situasi atau Situation based Learning dan kelas R6B yang diajarkan dengan pembelajaran ekspositori. Data kemampuan representasi yang diperoleh dengan memberikan soal tes uraian sebanyak 5 soal yang telah divalidasi akan dilakukan uji persyaratan data yaitu uji normalitas dan uji homogenitas. Selanjutnya data diuji hipotesis dengan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menyebutkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan rata-rata kemampuan representasi matematika antara kelas yang diajarkan dengan pembelajaran Situation Based Learning dan kelas yang tidak diajarkan dengan pembelajaran Situation Based Learnin
