This study explores the impact of collaborative game-based learning (GBL) and digital integration on vocabulary acquisition among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. It investigates how interactive digital games, coupled with collaborative activities, enhance students' vocabulary retention and usage. Data was collected through qualitative data collection via online interviews on Google Meet and Zoom with 12 participants, the research reveals that students benefit from the social aspect of game-based learning, where collaboration with peers promotes active vocabulary use and real-time feedback. The study reveals that increased student engagement and motivation play a central role in enhancing vocabulary acquisition. Participants shared that the interactive and competitive nature of game-based learning (GBL) actively encouraged them to engage in vocabulary practice, making learning more enjoyable and dynamic. The findings highlight how game-based learning facilitates vocabulary acquisition through increased engagement and motivation. Collaborative and interactive learning fosters cognitive development and long-term retention. The real-time feedback provided by GBL helped students retain and apply new vocabulary over time. The collaborative aspect of GBL also emerged as a key factor in vocabulary learning, with students benefiting from peer interaction and shared knowledge in game-based environments. This collaboration fostered deeper understanding and allowed students to use vocabulary in meaningful contexts. Furthermore, personalized learning through digital tools was highly appreciated by participants, as adaptive features of digital platforms enabled them to learn at their own pace and tailor their learning experience to their individual needs, reinforcing vocabulary mastery. Overall, the study suggests that integrating GBL and digital tools not only aids vocabulary acquisition but also creates a more engaging, interactive, and personalized learning experience. These findings highlight the potential of incorporating these strategies into language instruction to strengthen vocabulary learning, provide real-world application opportunities, and advance overall language proficiency

Indonesian in the Vortex of Policy Change Final Project: Challenges and Strategies for Maintaining Academic Competence
This study aims to: 1) analyze the implications of the policy on students' competence in using scientific Indonesian, and 2) evaluate the impact of eliminating the thesis as a medium for developing academic writing. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis at 9 universities ranked in the top 25 according to Time Higher Education (THE) for the June 2023 period. This study reveals that the policy of eliminating the obligation to write a thesis in Permendikbudristek No. 53/2023 has the potential to reduce students' competence in mastering scientific Indonesian. Indonesian remains important as the main medium in developing critical thinking skills, scientific argumentation, and academic communication in various forms of alternative final assignments, such as projects, prototypes, or other innovative works. Good and correct mastery of Indonesian remains an important pillar in ensuring the quality of learning outcomes and student contributions in the academic and professional world. The implication is that it is necessary for the Directorate General of Higher Education to prepare technical implementation guidelines that regulate: 1) minimum language content standards for all types of final assignments, 2) validation mechanisms for Indonesian language competency, for example with the Indonesian Language Proficiency Test (UKBI), and 3) allocation of special credits for academic writing training so that mastery of Indonesian remains the foundation of academic competency for university graduates
Analysis of the Role of Social Regulation in the Implementation of Halal Certification to Improve the Competitiveness of MSMEs in Indonesia
This study aims to analyze the role of halal certification as a driver of competitiveness for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, with a focus on the effectiveness of existing regulations. Through a literature review and comparative analysis approach, this study examines the definition, history, and standards of halal certification, as well as its impact on MSME performance and competitiveness. The research methods used include document analysis, in-depth interviews with MSME actors, and a review of government policies related to halal certification. The results show that halal certification has a positive impact on increasing consumer trust, market access, and adding value to MSME products. However, the implementation of halal certification also faces challenges, such as a lack of understanding of the importance of certification, relatively high certification costs, and procedural complexity. Government regulations, including Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Assurance, play a crucial role in facilitating the certification process and boosting MSME competitiveness. The study's conclusion confirms that halal certification is an important catalyst for increasing MSME competitiveness, supported by effective and sustainable regulations. Research implications include recommendations for regulatory improvements, increased awareness of the benefits of halal certification, and provision of technical and financial support for MSME

The study's conclusions confirm that Pengubaian Beach has the potential to become a sustainable tourism destination, provided there is institutional strengthening, infrastructure improvement, and more intensive collaboration between the government, community, and the private secto
Reposition and Role of Non-Governmental Organizations in North Sumatera Post-New Order: A Study of KSPPM, BITRA Indonesia, And PESADA
This study aims to uncover the role and repositioning of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in North Sumatra in the post-New Order era. Specifically, this study aims to uncover how NGOs reposition themselves towards the state/government, the market, and civil society—three major entities widely recognized in Public Administration studies. This is crucial considering that NGOs—as one of the important democratic actors in community empowerment and democratization in Indonesia—are situated within a constantly changing national socio-political landscape, as well as a global context that increasingly emphasizes the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration. This study—taking into account the issues and areas discussed—focuses on three institutions: KSPPM, BITRA Indonesia, and PESADA. Using a qualitative-descriptive method, this study concludes several things: first, during the Reformation era, NGOs have repositioned themselves, no longer as opposition to the government, but as "critical partners"; second, despite the increasingly open political system, NGOs have not succeeded in building effective political relationships; third, along with the collapse of the New Order as their "common enemy," NGOs tend to experience fragmentation and sectarianism in the Reformation era; Fourth, in the Reformation era, NGOs in North Sumatra began to open up spaces for dialogue, negotiation, and technology, and actively encouraged the communities they supported to enter public spaces and positions; Fifth, NGOs in North Sumatra did not abandon "traditional" issues, but now tended to expand their issues and areas of concern; Sixth, the three institutions (KSPPM, BITRA, and PESADA) demonstrated greater program and financial capacity, although they still depended on funding institutions; Seventh, NGOs in North Sumatra tended to remain skeptical, even closed, in collaborating with private companies; Eighth, in the Reformation era, NGOs in North Sumatra increasingly took a side on gender issues, although in this regard there was—and were influenced by—active encouragement from their donors; which is no less important. The novelty of this research found a number of achievements that have been made by the three institutions, which make them worthy of public appreciation and trust to date
ENGLISH LINGUISTIC LANDSCAPE AND EFL LEARNING: A DISCOURSE-BASED STUDY OF PUBLIC SIGNS IN PADANG
This study investigates the role of the English Linguistic Landscape as a potential learning medium for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Padang, West Sumatra. While previous studies have described the English Linguistic Landscape in Indonesia, few have explicitly explored its pedagogical value and discursive implications for language learning. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research analyzed 850 English-containing public signs across the city and surveyed 114 EFL students at Universitas Andalas regarding their perceptions of English in public spaces. We examined the signs regarding linguistic units (as the texts) and their visual positioning and relation to symbolic meaning and cultural identity. Findings reveal that English is prominently used in commercial signage, often in larger fonts and strategic positions, signaling its dominance and symbolic prestige over Indonesian. Student responses indicate generally positive attitudes, with more than 80% acknowledging that the English Linguistic Landscape contributes to vocabulary building, grammar awareness, and motivation for language learning. However, the study also notes grammatical and hybrid construction inaccuracies that may reinforce non-standard English patterns. The discussion highlights English Linguistic Landscape as a discourse resource that reflects globalization, power relations, and shifting identities in urban Indonesia. Implications suggest that the English Linguistic Landscape can be integrated into EFL pedagogy through critical analysis tasks and multimodal learning activities. Future research should expand to the digital English Linguistic Landscape and comparative contexts across Indonesian cities. This research underscores the pedagogical and sociocultural significance of the English Linguistic Landscape, though further work is needed to deepen its discourse analysis and pedagogical applications
