THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PRESENTATION, PRACTICE, AND PRODUCTION TO IMPROVE STUDENTS' WRITING SKILLS ON DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
This study aims to test the effectiveness of the PPP (Presentation, Practice, and Production) method in improving descriptive text writing skills among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri Bandung. The PPP method is implemented through three stages: Presentation, Practice, and Production. In the Presentation stage, the teacher delivers the material in a structured manner. In the Practice stage, students engage in guided writing practice. Whereas in the Production stage, students produce writing independently. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, employing the one-group pretest-posttest technique. Data were collected through descriptive writing tests before and after the implementation of the PPP method. The research results show a significant improvement in students' writing skills after the implementation of the PPP method. The average pretest score of 56.94 increased to 68.85 on the posttest. Statistical analysis using the paired t-test showed a significance value (p < 0.05), which means that the PPP method is effective in improving students' descriptive writing skills. Based on these findings, it is concluded that the PPP method is an effective teaching strategy and is recommended for use in teaching descriptive text writing
STUDENTS' PERCEPTIONS OF THE SUGGESTOPEDIA LEARNING METHOD IN IMPROVING SPEAKING SKILLS FOR DELIVERING RECOUNT TEXTS
This study aims to investigate students' perceptions of the Suggestopedia method in improving speaking skills, particularly in delivering recount texts. Suggestopedia is a language teaching method that emphasizes psychological comfort, relaxation, and enjoyment in the learning process through the use of music, games, and imaginative activities. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey design involving 36 tenth-grade students from a Islamic Senior High School (MAN) in Bandar Lampung who had experienced learning through the Suggestopedia method. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale and semi-structured interviews to triangulate the findings. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively, while qualitative data were thematically interpreted. The findings revealed that students generally had positive perceptions of the method, with high average scores across all measured aspects: awareness (79.7%), past experience (82.3%), knowledge (82.4%), motivation (83.3%), and social interaction (82.1%). These results indicate that Suggestopedia was well-received, especially in boosting students’ enthusiasm and participation in speaking activities. Interview data supported these findings, highlighting increased comfort, self-confidence, and creativity in expressing personal experiences. The study concludes that Suggestopedia effectively fosters a relaxed and supportive learning environment, which reduces anxiety and encourages spontaneous speaking. However, its successful implementation requires teacher readiness and sensitivity to different learner preferences. Suggestopedia proves to be a promising alternative method for improving students’ speaking fluency and confidence in recount text delivery

Educational Pearls Behind The Phase Of Birth And Forty Years Before Prophethood (Reinterpretation Of The Prophetic Head By Sheikh Shafiyyurrahman Al-Mubarakfuri)
If in the clouds there is always water that will fall to wet the barren earth, this is also the case with every story in the sirah nabawiyah. The aim of this research is to find educational pearls behind every story or event. There are two methods that will be used in this research, namely: first, using "Library Research" where the method in this research will use theories taken from literature books that support and are relevant to the title of this research. Second, researchers use field research that is appropriate to the object the researcher chooses. This research is a type of field research with a qualitative approach. This research is also supported by library research, namely data sources in the form of books or literature related to the discussion. The results and discussion of this research study are that the "birth and forty years before prophethood" phase of the sirah nabawiyah does not merely contain a series of meaningless stories. In each story or event from this phase, various educational pearls are contained. The conclusion of this study is that readers of the prophet's life history can capture many inspiring moral messages. If so, we can break the expression uthlub al-'ilm walau bi ash-shiin (seek knowledge even in China) with a more Islamic thesis, namely uthlub al-'ilm bi al-qiraat wa al-ta'malu fi sirah nabawiyah
Analysis of Development Policy Based on Economic Activities of the Rupat Island Community
For years, the residents of Rupat Island have been involved in economic activities in Malaysia. The border area has undergone many changes in recent years, especially in the Rupat Island region. This study aims to analyze policies based on the economic activities of the community on Rupat Island. The research method used is qualitative descriptive method. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with key informants, and secondary data was obtained from documentation held by Unit Pengelola Pelabuhan (Port Operator). Research findings indicate that the commodities produced by the people of Rupat Island are mostly sold to neighboring Malaysia, particularly fresh fish catches from the sea. This occurs due to the relatively high selling price compared to the prices in Dumai or its surrounding areas. In addition to marine products sold to Malaysia, rubber from plantations has also become a commodity exported to the neighboring country. The community engages in this practice with the hope of achieving a higher selling price than if they were to sell in the local market. The people of Rupat Island are currently consuming many Indonesian products, especially staple food items, to meet their basic needs. This is different from before the improvement of road infrastructure and the operation of the roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) passenger and cargo ferries that began in 2011. Sustainable development policies and programs are needed so that the community can feel the impact of development and empowerment. The development of roads and bridges, the enhancement of economic growth in the primary and secondary sectors, as well as the provision and management of transportation infrastructure and facilities, aim to improve accessibility and the quality of regional infrastructure to facilitate the smooth flow of economic activities for the community
Reform Through A Good Governance Approach: A Policy Study In Indonesia
This study examines the reform of Indonesia’s national defense management through a good governance framework, positioning institutional governance as a critical determinant of defense effectiveness. The growing complexity of multidimensional security threats requires defense systems that are not only operationally capable but also institutionally transparent, accountable, and cross-sectorally coordinated. Despite ongoing public sector reforms, the integration of good governance principles into defense management reveals a persistent gap between normative design and implementation practice.Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, this study relies on document analysis of defense policies, regulations, and governance literature. Content analysis and policy analysis are employed to assess the alignment between the principles of transparency, accountability, participation, rule of law, and policy effectiveness and the institutional practices of defense management. The findings indicate that reforms have strengthened civilian–military functional separation, strategic planning mechanisms, and formal accountability systems. However, defense governance continues to face structural constraints, including fragmented authority, weak intersectoral coordination, and limited integration between planning and implementation. At the cultural level, hierarchical organizational norms slow the adoption of participatory and transparent governance practices. The study demonstrates that the relationship between good governance and defense effectiveness is indirect and mediated by the quality of institutional management reform. Its primary contribution lies in advancing a conceptual linkage between public governance and defense sector performance while offering policy recommendations centered on institutional integration and results-based accountability
Analysis of Social Change: The Transformation of Traditional Traders at Pasar Raya Padang in the Digital Economy Era
The rapid development of the digital economy has significantly transformed trade structures in Indonesia, including traditional markets that have long been the backbone of community-based economic activities. This study aims to analyze the changes and impacts experienced by traditional traders in Pasar Raya Padang in the digital economy era. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation, and analyzed using thematic analysis with source and method triangulation to ensure validity. The findings reveal that traditional traders in Pasar Raya Padang are undergoing social changes marked by adaptation gaps to digital technology. Younger traders tend to adopt social media platforms and electronic payment systems to expand their market reach, while older traders face difficulties due to limited digital literacy. The economic impact is ambivalent: adaptive traders experience increased income, while non-adaptive traders face declining sales. Socially, face-to-face interactions have decreased, yet new, more transactional relationships have emerged in digital spaces. This study concludes that Pasar Raya Padang represents a dynamic interaction between tradition and modernity, resulting in a hybrid form of trade. The findings highlight the importance of empowering traditional traders through digital literacy programs, supportive policies, and community collaboration to maintain the competitiveness of traditional markets in the digital era
Spatio-Cultural Wisdom In Disaster Mitigation: Dual-Hazard Adaptation In The Minangkabau Highlands Of Indonesia
Indonesia’s disaster mitigation policies have historically relied on technocratic paradigms that often marginalize indigenous knowledge. The research specifically aims to document, analyze, and critically interpret the operationalization of indigenous knowledge across the phases of disaster management: pre-disaster, during-disaster, and post-disaster. Guided by the social-ecological systems theory and cultural resilience framework, a qualitative descriptive approach was employed. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with community leaders and traditional authorities, and textual analysis of oral and written adat sources. A spatial vulnerability assessment was conducted to contextualize practices within the region’s geomorphological risks. The findings reveal a sophisticated, multi-layered system of risk mitigation embedded in local architecture (e.g., elevated rumah gadang), hydrological infrastructure (tabek, parit nagari), ecological zoning (rimbo larangan), and socio-religious governance (Tigo Tungku Sajarangan). These practices demonstrate high spatial adaptability and cultural coherence but show signs of erosion due to modernization, land-use change, and weakening intergenerational transmission. This study concludes that effective disaster mitigation in high-risk landscapes must transcend engineering-based approaches by integrating indigenous knowledge, normative values, and spatial-cultural contexts into formal disaster risk reduction frameworks. The novelty of this research lies in its holistic documentation of dual-hazard mitigation practices and its proposal of a spatio-cultural corrective to Indonesia’s predominantly technocratic disaster governance
Implementation of Differentiated Learning in the Independent Curriculum at SMPN 3 Kecamatan IV Jurai, Pesisir Selatan Regency
The Independent Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka) has been implemented at SMPN 1 Kecamatan IV Jurai, Pesisir Selatan Regency since the 2022/2023 academic year. The school has conducted workshops at the beginning of each semester to socialize the Independent Curriculum and develop teaching materials in the form of teaching modules. Teachers have also created belajar.id accounts and joined subject-specific communities both within the school and in communities across the regency. This study is motivated by several challenges encountered in implementing the Independent Curriculum, particularly in differentiated learning. These challenges include teachers’ difficulties in recognizing and understanding the individual needs of each student, such as their skill levels, interests, learning styles, and learning preferences. Additionally, teachers face challenges in developing diverse teaching materials that meet students’ needs. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the implementation of differentiated learning within the Independent Curriculum at SMPN 3 Kecamatan IV Jurai, Pesisir Selatan Regency. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The informants consist of the principal, curriculum vice-principal, student affairs vice-principal, and eight teachers at SMPN 1 Kecamatan IV Jurai, selected using purposive sampling. The data consist of primary and secondary data collected through interviews and document studies. Data analysis follows the interactive model by Miles and Huberman, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate several stages in implementing differentiated learning: 1) understanding students through diagnostic tests, both academic and non-academic; 2) formulating learning objectives; 3) developing differentiated learning strategies; and 4) using ongoing assessment. Three approaches are applied in differentiated learning at SMPN 3 Kecamatan IV Jurai, Pesisir Selatan Regency: content differentiation, process differentiation, and product differentiation
Rational Choices of Farmers in Sustaining Agriculture Amid Tourism Expansion in Batu City
The rapid conversion of agricultural land into tourism areas in Batu City has driven many farmers to shift into the tourism sector. However, some farmers rationally choose to remain in agriculture despite increasing pressures and attractions of tourism. This study examines the rationality behind farmers’ decisions to sustain farming and the strategies they adopt amid agrarian crisis and tourism expansion. Guided by James S. Coleman’s rational choice theory, the analysis emphasizes actors’ calculations of resources, risks, and values. A qualitative case study was conducted in Bulukerto Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City, using semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation, and document analysis. The findings show that farmers’ persistence is shaped by the availability of land and agricultural resources, strong socio-cultural attachments, and careful assessments of tourism’s uncertainties, which are often unstable and capital-intensive. Rather than abandoning farming, they adapt by diversifying to more resilient or profitable commodities, including oranges, vegetables, cut flowers, and multi-purpose tree species. The study concludes that sustaining agriculture constitutes a rational choice grounded in economic stability, ecological sustainability, and cultural identity. The novelty of this research lies in showing how farmers’ rationality is formed not only by material resources but also by non-material values and perceived risks of tourism, offering new insights into agrarian transformation
