    No full text
This research is motivated by the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, which emphasizes student-centered learning, alignment with learners’ needs, and greater learning freedom. In practice, however, traditional teaching methods, limited use of technology, and the need for a positive school culture remain challenges. Therefore, the role of Teacher Leaders as agents of change becomes crucial in promoting innovation, collaboration, and quality improvement at Senior High School 4 South Solok. The study aims to describe the role of Teacher Leaders in implementing the Independent Curriculum, particularly in guiding teachers and students to utilize technology. It employs Talcott Parsons’ structural functional theory with the AGIL scheme, which states that every social system must fulfill adaptation, goal attainment, integration, and latency. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied through field research, with purposive sampling involving Teacher Leaders, non-Teacher Leaders, and students. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model.Findings reveal that Teacher Leaders serve as facilitators, motivators, initiators, and innovators through several programs. The ICT-Based Learning Competency Development Program helps students learn physics with technology despite limited laboratory facilities. HELING (Healthy and Environmentally Friendly Living) raises environmental awareness while motivating students in chemistry. The Change Initiative introduces innovation into sociology learning using interactive digital applications, while the Positive Culture program builds a safe classroom climate and student responsibility. These initiatives demonstrate that Teacher Leaders not only bring innovation but also engage students and colleagues in collaboration, creating a dynamic, enjoyable, and student-oriented learning atmosphere consistent with the Independent Curriculum. Keyword: Teacher Leaders, Independent Curriculum, agents of change

The Influence of City Branding on Visit Intention, Mediated By Brand Identity and City Image, and Its Impact on Visit Decisions

    No full text
This study examines the relationship between city branding and intention to visit by considering the mediating roles of brand identity and city image, as well as their ultimate influence on the decision to see, through a case study of tourists visiting Makassar City, which is branded as the "City of Delicious Food." This research contributes scientifically to the understanding of culinary-based destination marketing strategies, which are increasingly important in light of the growing competition among cities to attract tourists. Makassar was chosen as the research object because, in 2023, the city launched a new sub-brand highlighting its culinary strengths as a key attraction and element of city identity. Conceptually, this study is grounded in the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), which explains the relationship between individual perceptions of a place and the intention and actual behavior to visit. The study adopts a quantitative explanatory approach using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS version 4.1.8 software. Data were collected from 150 respondents who have either visited or plan to visit Makassar. The results of the analysis indicate that city branding has a positive and significant influence on building brand identity and city image, which subsequently enhances tourists' intention to visit. This intention was found to have a direct impact on the decision to visit. Furthermore, brand identity and city image play important mediating roles in this relationship. These findings confirm that the attractiveness of a city lies not only in its physical aspects or tourist attractions but also in how all stakeholders, including the government, businesses, and the local community, consistently manage brand identity and city image. In the context of Makassar, emphasizing local culinary richness—such as Jalangkote, Pisang Ijo, Mie Kering, and Pisang Epe—has been proven to be an effective branding strategy in shaping the city's image as a leading culinary destination. Practically, this study guides policymakers in designing destination promotion strategies that leverage local potential, strengthen community participation, and support the development of the creative economy and MSMEs in the region

Meaningful Productivity Strategy: The Key to Reducing Poverty In The 3T Region of The Mentawai Islands

    No full text
The Mentawai Islands, as one of Indonesia's Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged (3T) regions, face the challenge of structural poverty that contradicts its rich natural resources. This study aims to formulate the concept of "Meaningful Productivity" as a poverty alleviation strategy that integrates local cultural values with modern economic efficiency. Using descriptive qualitative methods, this study found that conventional productivity, which focuses solely on physical quantities, often fails because it ignores the socio-cultural context of Arat Sabulungan. The results of the discussion indicate that downstreaming of local commodities (sago and coconut) and the development of community-based ecotourism are key pillars of meaningful productivity. This strategy has been proven to increase income while maintaining cultural identity, which is key to economic sustainability in the 3T region.

    No full text
Young people have experienced changes in the era of modern societal development. Most rural residents perceive that agricultural work is no longer attractive, so many young people choose jobs outside the agricultural sector. This study aims to analyze the influence of digital media utilization, environmental support, and family characteristics on Generation Z’s lifestyle and interest in horticultural farming. Data collected include primary and secondary data through interviews using questionnaires. Data was processed and analyzed using scores, Linear Regression, and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The structural model analysis using PLS-SEM revealed several significant relationships. The path coefficient for digital media utilization on Generation Z’s lifestyle is 0.083 with a t-statistic of 2.877 (p = 0.004), indicating significance. However, the influence of social media on interest in horticultural farming is not significant (p = 0.328). Environmental support and family characteristics also significantly affect Generation Z’s lifestyle and interest in farming. R-Square (R²) for lifestyle is 0.799, indicating that 79.9% of lifestyle variation is explained by the exogenous variables. For interest in horticultural farming, the R² value is 0.717, meaning 71.7% of the interest variation is influenced by the factors in the model. The Q-Square (Q²) values for both variables are 0.610 and 0.611, indicating the model has good predictive power. These results highlight the significant role of family factors and lifestyle in Generation Z’s interest in horticultural farming

BUDDHIST POETRY AS DIGITAL PRACTICE A HERMENEUTIC APPRO ACH TO THEMATIC AND SOCIO-SPIRITUAL FUNCTIONS IN INDONESIA

    No full text
Buddhist poetry has a rich tradition as a medium for spiritual expression and instruction across diverse cultures. In the digital age, this tradition has found a new arena for evolution and adaptation. This study aims to analyze the thematic evolution and socio-spiritual functions of Buddhist poetry within the Indonesian digital space. Employing a digital hermeneutic approach with a scaled reading method reading (van de Ven & van Nuenen, 2022), this research examines the production, dissemination, and reception of Buddhist poetry across six online platforms personal blogs, community blogs (Kompasiana), Buddhist organizational sites (tisarana.net, PERGABI YouTube), social media (TikTok), and content-sharing sites through three analytical levels: platform hermeneutics, distant reading to map thematic patterns, and close reading of selected poetic texts. The findings reveal that Indonesian digital Buddhist poetry maintains its contemplative core while developing three key interrelated functions: (1) an innovative medium for digital Dharma education from poetry as doctrinal learning on to multimodal learning resources on PERGABI YouTube; (2) a platform for reflecting on and responding to contemporary social issues, including inner struggle, grief, and ethical crises reinterpreted through canonical narratives such as Kisagotami and Devadatta; and (3) a space for negotiating Buddhist identity within a Muslim-majority context, both through conscious identity affiliation on secular platforms (Kompasiana) and digital ritual practices that build implicit communities on TikTok. Cross-platform analysis demonstrates how the distinctive features of digital media hypertextuality on blogs enabling doctrinal interconnection, multimodality on YouTube integrating text, sound, and ritual imagery, and algorithmic visibility on social media shaping the circulation of religious content fundamentally reshape poetry's function as ritual practice and community building, giving rise to what may be termed "networked Dhamma."This study concludes that digital Buddhist poetry in Indonesia represents a dynamic synthesis of traditional spiritual expression and contemporary digital adaptation, successfully bridging personal spiritual practice with collective engagement while maintaining doctrinal integrity. These findings offer a conceptual framework for understanding the transformation of religious literature and practice in increasingly digitalized societies

EFL STUDENTS’ NEEDS IN ESSAY WRITING THROUGH THE PROCESS-GENRE BASED APPROACH (PGBA)

    No full text
This study explores the needs of EFL students in essay writing as an initial step toward the development of instructional materials grounded in the Process Genre-Based Approach (PGBA). Specifically, it seeks to examine students’ writing difficulties (lacks), learning preferences (wants), and expectations (goals) in order to inform the design of writing materials that are meaningful and responsive to their learning context. A mixed-methods design was employed, involving 42 EFL students and three lecturers teaching writing courses at a public university in Indonesia. Data were obtained through a 25-item questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the quantitative data, while the qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The findings suggest that students frequently struggle with organizing their ideas, developing coherent paragraphs, and applying grammatical structures accurately. At the same time, they show a clear preference for guided instruction, the use of model texts, and writing activities supported by feedback. In terms of expectations, students express a strong interest in writing materials that are structured, reflective, and motivating. These findings suggest that PGBA is well-suited to addressing students’ needs, as it combines process-oriented writing with genre awareness and provides systematic scaffolding throughout the recursive stages of writing. Overall, the study demonstrates that the principles of PGBA align closely with students’ needs and expectations, supporting its use as a pedagogical framework for EFL writing instruction and materials development.

    No full text
This article examines the role of religiosity and humanitarian values in modern Indonesian literature and their implications for literature learning in higher education. Unlike philosophy or history, literature presents reality through imaginative expression while adhering to principles of plausibility, integrity, novelty, and aesthetic value, making it a strategic medium for conveying moral and spiritual messages. Using a descriptive-qualitative method with content analysis, this study analyzes selected literary works, including Sang Pencerah by Akhmal Nasery Basral, Negeri 5 Menara by A. Fuadi, Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata, Kubah by Ahmad Tohari, Family of Permana by Ramadhan K.H., as well as short stories by A.A. Navis, Umar Kayam, and Nugroho Notosusanto. The findings indicate that these works contain strong dimensions of religiosity, such as monotheism, worship, and faith, alongside humanitarian values including friendship, empathy, devotion, and social awareness, which are embedded in characters, settings, and narrative conflicts. These values can be utilized as effective media for character education in higher education, particularly in fostering tolerance, responsibility, and respect for others. The study offers novelty by integrating religious and humanitarian values into character-based literature learning strategies, positioning literature not only as an aesthetic form but also as a relevant instrument of moral and humanitarian education in responding to globalization and the moral challenges faced by younger generations
