    Get PDF
The integration of 21st-century learning and generic science skills (GSS) is critical in developing students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS), especially in chemistry education. This quasi-experimental study aimed to analyze the effects of implementing four GSS-integrated digital learning models (PjBL-GSS, PBL-GSS, IBL-GSS, and DL-GSS) and students’ initial abilities on their HOTS performance. A total of 397 students participated, grouped by initial ability levels and assigned to different learning models. Data were collected using validated instruments including scholastic tests and HOTS assessments, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and two-way ANOVA. The results showed significant effects of both initial abilities and learning models on HOTS, with IBL-GSS being the most effective, especially for high-ability students. Moreover, significant interactions were found between initial ability and the type of model used. The study suggests that selecting appropriate digital learning models based on students' prior knowledge is essential to foster optimal HOTS outcomes. Teachers are encouraged to align instructional design with both GSS indicators and students’ learning readiness

    Get PDF
One of the critical issues resulting from the increasing penetration of social media is the spread of fake news. This can damage public information and influence mass opinion, leading to conflict. To overcome this problem, machine learning and deep learning-based approaches have been continuously developed to detect fake news on various social media platforms automatically. This article aims to compare the effectiveness of these two approaches in detecting fake news. The methods used include the implementation of traditional machine learning algorithms, such as Support Vector Machines (SVM) and Random Forest, as well as deep learning-based approaches, including Long Short-Term Memory and Self-Organizing Maps. Datasets containing real and fake news from various social media sources are used to train and evaluate these models. Model performance is measured based on accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. This study aims to determine which approach is more effective and identify challenges in implementing these algorithms in a dynamic social media environment. The results obtained show that the Random Forest algorithm achieves an accuracy level of 100%, surpassing other algorithms, including Long Short-Term Memory with an F-1 Score of 97%, Self-Organizing Map with an F-1 Score of 96%, and Support Vector Machine with an F-1 Score of 92%

Mental health in developing countries is a common and complex problem. The problem continues to increase and is closely related to low self-confidence, negative interpersonal relationships, and academic depression. This can affect students' ability to complete academic assignments on a university scale. An AI-based early detection application can potentially improve mental health services related to treatment access. This system can help identify users who may be depressed based on the language used, especially for those who are reluctant to seek professional solutions due to the negative stigma of mental health. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method involving observation, in-depth analysis of group conversations, and early detection of academic depression by identifying conversation patterns between students and counselors as the basis for developing a smartphone-based application. This study produced a dataset of 395 depression-level data entries used as training data to develop a machine-learning model. A prototype of an academic depression detection application has been developed as a mobile-based application

DIGITAL AND FINANCIAL LITERACY DRIVING MICRO FINANCE ACCESS: RELIGIOSITY AS CATALYST FOR SME DEVELOPMENT

    Get PDF
Microfinancing has contributed to the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), market expansion, and reduced economic inequality in developing countries. Microfinancing enhances MSMEs' resilience to economic and environmental changes by facilitating the adoption of sustainable technology. Gaps in financial literacy, particularly in financial management, impede MSMEs access to credit. Limited digital literacy and poor Internet access hinder MSMEs engagement in the digital economy. This study analyzes how financial literacy and digital platform usage influence microfinancing and MSMEs development, with religiosity as a moderating factor. Using a quantitative methodology with structural equation modeling and moderating regression analysis, the research sampled 200 MSMEs that obtained loans from formal microfinance institutions, specifically conventional People's Economic Banks (BPR) and Sharia People's Economic Banks (BPRS) in Western Indonesia. The results demonstrate that financial literacy and digital platforms facilitate access to microfinance and MSMEs growth, aligning with the theories of Diffusion of Innovation, Technology Acceptance Model, and Resource-Based View. The ineffectiveness of microfinance as a mediating variable reveals a disparity between financing access and productive fund utilization. The negative moderation of religiosity on the effect of financial literacy on microfinancing shows the influence of religious values on MSMEs' financial perceptions. These results indicate the need to integrate financial literacy, digital mentoring, and religious-value-based strategies into MSME empowerment programs. Financing institutions must modify their interventions to ensure that financing promotes inclusive MSME growth. This study uniquely examines religiosity moderation and microfinancing's ineffectiveness as mediating factors in MSME digitalization in developing countries
