Comparative Study of Macerated and Soxhlet-Extracted Moringa Oleifera Leaf Extracts: LC-MS-Based Metabolomic Profiling, Antioxidant Activity, and In Silico Target Prediction
Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera L.) are rich in secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and terpenoids, which function as natural antioxidants. This study aimed to analyze the metabolite profile of M. oleifera leaf extracts obtained through two extraction techniques using LC-MS, evaluate their antioxidant activity via the DPPH assay, and predict the interaction between NADPH oxidase (as a receptor) and key plant-derived compounds through molecular docking. LC-MS results indicated that the maceration method yielded 101 secondary metabolites, with flavonoid derivatives comprising 70.99% of the extract, dominated by five key compounds including Kaempferol 3-O-robinobioside and Luteolin-7-glucoside. In contrast, the Soxhlet method resulted in 83 identified compounds, with a higher proportion of flavonoids (75.61%), and prominent compounds including quercetin-3-O-glucoside and Kaempferol 3-(6G-malonylneohesperidoside). Antioxidant testing with DPPH at concentrations of 10, 50, and 100 ppm revealed the Soxhlet extract had a stronger activity (IC₅₀ = 14.328 ppm) compared to the macerated extract (IC₅₀ = 32.092 ppm), with statistically significant differences (p < 0.05). Molecular docking demonstrated that Kaempferol 3-(6G-malonylneohesperidoside) exhibited the strongest binding affinity to NADPH oxidase (-10.1 kcal/mol), followed by other flavonoid derivatives. These findings underscore the antioxidant potential of M. oleifera, particularly from Soxhlet extraction, and suggest its promising application in pharmaceutical development as a natural antioxidant source
Antidiabetic activity of combined extracts of Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn. and Stevia rebaudiana Bert. on streptozotocin-induced diabetes Wistar rats
The increasing prevalence of diabetes mellitus and the limitation in its conventional therapies underscores the need for alternative treatments. Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn. and Stevia rebaudiana Bert. have demonstrated individual antidiabetic activities attributed to their secondary metabolites, including flavonoid and phenolic compounds. This study employed an experimental in vivo design using rats induced with STZ. Thirty rats were divided into five groups (n=6): normal control, negative control, positive control (Glibenclamide), and two treatment groups receiving the combined aqueous extracts of H.sabdariffa and S.rebaudiana (RSAE) at 500 and 1000 mg/kgBW. Diabetes was induced using STZ (50 mg/kgBW administered i.p). Blood glucose levels were measured fasting and 2 hr postprandial at days 0, 3, and 14 after administration of RSAE. Data were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA. RSAE exhibited dose‐dependent hypoglycaemic activity in STZ‐induced diabetic rats, significantly reducing (p < .005) fasting blood glucose by up to 50.7 % and two‐hour post‐prandial glucose by 44.97% at 1000 mg/kgBW
Uniqueness of Layered Double Hydroxide Materials: A Critical Review of Synthesis Methods, Properties, Composites, and Remediation Mechanism
Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) are a class of anionic clays known for their tunable structure, high surface area, and versatile ion exchange capabilities, making them highly attractive for environmental remediation. This critical review explores the uniqueness of LDH materials by examining recent advancements in their synthesis methods, structural and physicochemical properties, and the development of LDH-based composites. Various synthesis approaches including co-precipitation, hydrothermal, and mechanochemical methods are evaluated in relation to their influence on LDH morphology, stability, and functionality. The review also highlights the integration of LDHs with other materials such as metal oxides, carbon-based supports, and metal organic frameworks (MOFs), which enhance their photocatalytic and adsorptive performances. Special attention is given to the mechanisms underlying pollutant removal, including ion exchange, surface complexation, and photocatalytic degradation. Comparative analysis of different modifications reveals trends in application performance and identifies current challenges that must be addressed to optimize LDHs for large-scale and multi-functional environmental applications. This review provides critical insight into the future potential of LDH materials as sustainable and efficient solutions for water and wastewater treatment
Perancangan Radiofarmaka Teranostik Kanker Penargetan Transporter Asam Amino Tipe-L1: Simulasi Docking Molekuler
Abstract. L-type amino acid transporter 1 (LAT1) is a potential pan-cancer theranostic molecular target. The LAT1 inhibitory potencies of eight theranostic radiopharmaceuticals designed based on a potent LAT1 inhibitor ADPB (in vitro pIC50 6.19), were estimated in molecular docking simulations. The designs comprised ADPB as a carrier molecule with/without 6-aminohexanoic acid (Ahx) linker, a chelating agent, and a radiometal (68Ga or 177Lu). JPH203, the most potent LAT1 inhibitor (pIC50 7.22), was utilized as a benchmark compound. A set of known LAT1 ligands (n = 15) were first docked into LAT1 to build the docking protocol. Adding a linker improved the LAT1 inhibitory potency of DOTA-conjugated and NODAGA-conjugated ADPB-based theranostic radiopharmaceutical designs. 177Lu-DOTA-Ahx-ADPB has the exceptional LAT1 inhibitory potency (pIC50 51.55 ± 17.06) while 177Lu-DOTA-ADPB, its non-linker counterpart, has LAT1 inhibitory potency significantly higher than the native JPH203. Both 177Lu-DOTA-Ahx-ADPB and 177Lu-DOTA-ADPB have strong bonds with key amino acids on the LAT1 binding pocket, particularly Asn258, Tyr259, and the gating residue Phe252. Our findings provide a quantitative and illustrative understanding of the LAT1 inhibitory potency of LAT1-targeting theranostic radiopharmaceutical designs relevant to the rational design of pan-cancer radiotheranostic drugs.

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) Prediction Model in Adolescent Females (10-19 Years) In Indonesia
Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in Indonesia has not yet reached an acceptable threshold. CED among adolescent girls can be caused by both direct and indirect factors. This research was conducted to develop a predictive model for the incidence of CED among adolescent girls (aged 10–19 years) in Indonesia. This study is a secondary research using a cross-sectional design. The data were obtained from the 2023 SKI dataset, with a sample of 55,506 adolescent girls aged 10–19 years. The data analysis was conducted using Complex Samples Chi-Square and Cox Regression predictive modeling. The study found that the proportion of CED among adolescent girls in Indonesia was 46.2%. The most dominant factor influencing CED among adolescent girls is age (PR = 1.430; 95% CI: 1.367–1.495), indicating that girls aged 10–14 years were at a higher risk of experiencing CED compared to those aged 15–19 years. Therefore, it is recommended that adolescent girls, especially those aged 10–14 years, maintain healthy behaviors, do a physical activity, and eat a lot of fruit and vegetable
