The evolving educational landscape and the growing concerns in the educational sector prompted master science teachers to conduct, disseminate, and utilize research. This study described the research capabilities, motivations, and challenges master science teachers face and examined the relationships among these variables. Data were gathered from 113 master science teachers in nine participating public schools in the Division of Nueva Ecija, Philippines, through a questionnaire. Results revealed that although they can identify research problems, choose approaches, and analyze data, they are challenged in managing research obligations, particularly regarding time and funds. Motivated to enhance teaching methods and support the educational community, master science teachers overcome these obstacles to show great degrees of professional and personal desire to participate in research. To help master science teachers create a stronger research culture, this study underlines the importance of institutional assistance, including improved access to research funds and professional development opportunities. There is a need to explore more factors to improve the research culture and contributions to education by Philippine master science teachers

This paper investigates how Indonesian English language and science teachers in Jambi municipality perceive the relationship between national identity and local culture in English and Science teaching. Through thematic analysis, the study explores teachers’ understanding toward the role of national identity in English and Science teaching as well as the challenges and strategies teachers encounter in integrating national identity into their teaching practices by the inclusion of local culture, emphasizing the importance of Jambi cultural context in the teaching. The research results reveal a number of findings such as teachers’ beliefs that exploring national identity in the classroom can help students develop a sense of belonging and awareness of their place in a multicultural world. However, they express varying degrees of emphasis on national identity, with some advocating for a bigger portion of context of local culture, while others may prioritize students’ development of English mastery no matter what culture is embedded. Teachers also report challenges and strategies employed, for instance the conduction of collaborative learning to help students learn from each other’s perspectives, designing inclusive teaching materials to include diverse perspectives of national identity, and enhancing teachers’ understanding of cultural sensitivity and identity issues. To conclude, it is recommended to build adequate support for a balanced English and Science teaching designs that respect and celebrate national identity while, at the same time, be able to prepare students for global engagement. By fostering the integration of local and global perspectives, English and Science education in Indonesia will be able to create English and Science teaching environment that empowers students as both national and global citizens

LANGUAGE POLITENESS IN DIGITAL STREAMING: THE IMPLICATIONS TO EDUCATION AND ETHICS IN COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE TECHNOLOGICAL ERA

This study investigates the phenomenon of politeness violations in digital live streaming interactions, focusing on gaming content on YouTube a platform increasingly characterized by the prevalence of “toxic” language, including harsh, derogatory, and provocative expressions. Such discourse poses a growing challenge to communication ethics and character education in the technological era. The research aims to analyze specific types of politeness principle violations and their implications for character formation and digital communication practices. Adopting a qualitative approach through observation, documentation, and interviews, the study found that violations most frequently targeted the principles of tact and generosity. Notably, these utterances were not merely spontaneous outbursts but deliberate strategies of performative impoliteness, designed to construct a particular self-image and amplified by platform algorithms seeking engagement. The novelty of this research lies in its integration of linguistic analysis, digital ethics, and character education within the context of real-time live streaming—a convergence rarely explored in prior studies. This interdisciplinary approach provides unique insights into how algorithm-driven platforms can normalize verbal aggression, influencing audience psychology and diminishing empathy values, particularly among student viewers. The findings highlight the urgent need to expand digital literacy education to encompass the ethical dimensions of communication, not just technical proficiency. The study recommends incorporating polite language awareness and ICT ethics into curricula to foster respectful, constructive interaction in online spaces

CULTURAL VALUES AND BATIK PURCHASE DECISIONS: EXPLORING THE MEDIATING EFFECT OF CONSUMER EMOTIONS

Batik, as a cultural artifact, holds deep symbolic and emotional significance; however, declining consumption rates suggest a shift in consumer priorities. This study aims to analyze the mediating role of pride-based emotions both self-focused and object-focused in the relationship between cultural values and Batik purchase decisions in Surabaya, East Java. Adopting a causal quantitative design, data were collected from 207 Batik consumers through a structured survey and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show that while cultural values significantly influence both types of pride emotions, they do not directly affect purchase decisions. In contrast, self-focused and object-focused emotions have a positive and significant impact on purchase behavior and fully mediate the effect of cultural values on Batik buying decisions. These findings suggest that emotions rather than cultural values alone serve as the primary psychological mechanism connecting cultural identity to heritage product consumption. Theoretically, this research highlights the importance of integrating affective variables into cultural consumption models. Practically, Batik producers and marketers are encouraged to develop pride-based emotional branding strategies to enhance consumer engagement. This study introduces the concept of a dual affective pathway, where personal identity and social resonance jointly drive cultural consumption, offering a novel contribution to the cross-cultural consumer behavior literature

DEVELOPMENT OF A DEEP LEARNING MODEL: CONTEXTUAL STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING THE PROFILE OF PANCASILA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

A deep learning-based learning model was developed to enhance students' reflective and contextual understanding of learning materials while internalizing the values of the Pancasila Student Profile. This study aimed to create a contextual learning model for high school students in science class, employing a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential tests, including the Independent Samples t-Test and Paired Samples t-Test, to evaluate the model's effectiveness in improving student learning outcomes. The results revealed a significant difference in the experimental group, as the Paired Samples t-Test indicated a notable difference between the pre-test score (68.47) and the post-test score (83.20), with a t-value of -9.127 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). Additionally, the Independent Samples t-Test demonstrated that the average post-test score of the experimental group (83.20) was significantly higher than that of the control group (74.13), with a t-value of 4.213 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the local wisdom-based model effectively improves student learning outcomes compared to the conventional approach. This study highlights the importance of implementing an immersive learning model in high schools, emphasizing contextual strategies that engage students in critical and reflective thinking to internalize the values of the Pancasila Student Proficiency Profile. However, the limitations of this model, such as time and space constraints, suggest the need for further longitudinal research across various educational settings to comprehensively evaluate its effectiveness and adaptability

Male breast cancer (MBC) is rare yet under-addressed in oncology nursing, especially regarding body image and masculinity. This qualitative study explored how men with breast cancer in Medan, Indonesia, make sense of altered bodies, masculinity, and care needs. We conducted in-depth interviews with 14 adult MBC patients (post-surgery or on systemic therapy) at a tertiary center and community support settings. Data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. Three themes emerged: (1) “A scar that questions manhood” (appearance concerns, mastectomy symbolism, sexual self-esteem), (2) “Between pink ribbons and blue identities” (stigma, misgendered spaces, delayed help-seeking), and (3) “What nursing care should look like for men” (gender-sensitive education, partner involvement, symptom self-management). Participants described tension between hegemonic masculinity ideals and survivorship, affecting disclosure, adherence, and quality of life. Findings suggest integrating gender-responsive assessment of body image, tailored education (e.g., tamoxifen adverse-effects counseling), and couple-focused supportive care. Results inform practice and policy, addressing a neglected subpopulation in oncology nursing.

    No full text
Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is one of the most burdensome symptoms during chemotherapy, yet effective predictors for its trajectory remain limited. While diet quality and food insecurity have been studied separately, the integrated concept of nutritional resilience, the ability to sustain adequate nutrition through stable food access, healthy dietary patterns, and adaptive eating behaviors has not been systematically examined. This study evaluated whether a Nutritional Resilience Index (NRI) predicts fatigue outcomes in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in Medan, Indonesia. A prospective cohort study and consecutive sampling was conducted among 200 adults with solid tumors across two tertiary hospitals. Baseline NRI was derived from three domains: food security (HFIAS), dietary quality (AHEI-2010), and adaptive food management strategies. Fatigue was assessed at baseline, post-cycle 2, and post-cycle 4 using the FACIT-F scale. Hierarchical linear regression tested the predictive value of NRI on fatigue trajectories, adjusting for demographic and clinical covariates. Participants (mean age 52.3 ± 11.6 years; 64% female) showed moderate baseline fatigue (FACIT-F 29.8 ± 8.6). Fatigue worsened significantly over chemotherapy (24.1 ± 9.4 at cycle 4, p<0.001). Regression analysis demonstrated that higher baseline NRI predicted significantly lower fatigue scores at cycle 4 (β = −0.31, p<0.001), independent of age, sex, cancer stage, and baseline fatigue. The model explained 42% of variance in fatigue outcomes (adjusted R² = 0.42). Nutritional resilience independently predicts CRF during chemotherapy. Screening and strengthening nutritional resilience may complement guideline-based fatigue management by addressing diet quality, food access, and adaptive eating behavior simultaneously.
