ECOFEMINIST RESISTANCE IN ROBERT STROMBERG’S MALEFICENT 1 (2014): THE STRUGGLES OF WOMEN AND NATURE AGAINTS PATRIARCHAL DOMINATION

    Get PDF
This study aims to examine the struggles of Maleficent’s character in Robert Stromberg’s Maleficent (2014) to assert her existence as both a woman and a guardian of nature. It uses Karen J. Warren’s ecofeminist theory, which explains how patriarchal domination connects the oppression of women and the exploitation of nature. The film Maleficent (2014) serves as the primary data source. This study applies a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through close observation of the film’s narrative, dialogue, and character development. The analysis was conducted using a contextual approach, guided by Klarer’s literary theory and Warren’s ecofeminist framework, particularly focusing on the concepts of the logic of domination, sexism, and naturism. The findings reveal that Maleficent’s resistance through the creation of protective boundaries, leadership of the Moors, and reclamation of her agency mirrors the broader resilience of women and nature under patriarchal systems. The study concludes that the film presents an alternative narrative where healing, protection, and empowerment appear through feminine strength and ecofeminist values. Keywords: ekofeminisme, dominasi laki-laki, Maleficent, eksploitasi alam, representasi perempuan

CONSTRUCTING POSITIVE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE THROUGH LANGUAGE: A DISCOURSE-PRAGMATIC STUDY IN CENTRAL JAVA, INDONESIA

    Get PDF
This study investigates how language is used to construct positive travel experiences in online reviews of tour services in Central Java, Indonesia. It aims to reveal the linguistic and pragmatic strategies through which international tourists express satisfaction, gratitude, and interpersonal warmth in digital communication. Drawing upon Discourse Analysis (Fairclough, 1992) and Politeness Theory (Brown & Levinson, 1987), 150 English-language TripAdvisor reviews written by foreign travelers who had participated in tour programs across major destinations in Central Java were analyzed qualitatively through discourse-pragmatic interpretation. The analysis focused on evaluative expressions, politeness markers, and narrative framing that revealed the writers’ affective stance. Findings show that reviewers frequently employed expressive lexical choices, intensifiers, and positive adjectives (e.g., amazing, helpful, friendly) to strengthen affective meaning. Pragmatically, tourists often used direct appreciation, collectivist expressions, and culturally sensitive compliments (e.g., thank you so much, we truly appreciate it) to establish solidarity and warmth. These linguistic strategies demonstrate how reviewers not only evaluate tour services but also enact politeness norms and rapport-building within digital discourse. The study concludes that online reviews extend traditional Indonesian values of sopan santun (courtesy) into digital interaction, reinforcing Central Java’s image as a hospitable and culturally respectful destination in global tourism communication

This study aims to analyze the types and root causes of plywood product defects in the production process at PT. SXX using the Six Sigma approach through DMAIC stages (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). The main issue identified is the high defect rate of 2.9%, or 1,971 defective units out of a total production of 67,705 sheets in 2024. The critical defect types include bubbles, delamination, and core holes. This quantitative research employs tools such as Pareto diagrams, fishbone diagrams, and 5 Whys analysis to trace the root causes of defects. The results indicate that the dominant factors are improperly dried raw materials, unstable machinery, uneven glue distribution, and a lack of supervision and SOP understanding among operators. Improvements were made through the provision of MC meters, glue spreader calibration, operator training, and improvement of veneer storage environments. Post-improvement, the defect rate is targeted to drop below 2.9%. This study also supports the implementation of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) by promoting energy efficiency and reducing production waste, thereby contributing to the improvement of product quality and competitiveness. This study aims to analyze the types and root causes of plywood product defects in the production process at PT. UMKM Kembang Goyang is one of the UMKM located in the Jatinegara area, East Jakarta. This UMKM has a flagship product in the form of kembang goyang cake. The high demand for kembang goyang cake orders, especially before Eid al-Fitr (Lebaran), with only 2 workers, makes this UMKM overwhelmed in fulfilling its production, resulting in this UMKM losing orders up to 100 packs. This study aims to calculate the processing time of each work station, standard output and the optimal number of workers needed. The method used in this study is a stopwatch time study. The stopwatch time study method is a direct measurement to obtain actual time or cycle time by considering the operator's work tempo and allowance, so that standard work time is obtained. The results show that kembang goyang cake produced from 1 kg of flour can produce 228 cakes. The standard time for kneading is 30 minutes per dough container. The standard heating time is 28 minutes per 2 liters of cooking oil. The standard time for frying until the dough is finished is 3 hours. Safety stock and defective products are set at 8 cakes, so there are 220 cakes ready to be packed at the packaging station. The standard time for packing 220 cakes into 10 packages is 30 minutes. The total time needed to make kembang goyang cakes from 1 kg of flour is 4 hours and 15 minutes. The number of workers needed at each work station is 1 person, but because this work is continuous, 1 person can work continuously from the kneading station, heating the oil, frying to packaging. If the order before Lebaran reaches 100 packages, then the number of workers needed is 10 people at each work station.UMKM Kembang Goyang is one of the UMKM located in the Jatinegara area, East Jakarta. Advancements in digital technology have transformed conventional attendance systems into more secure and automated solutions. However, manual and online-based systems remain vulnerable to fraud, such as proxy attendance and false records. This study designs a digital attendance system using face recognition technology based on the Convolutional Neural Network method. The process begins by capturing facial images via camera, followed by preprocessing steps including grayscale conversion, face detection using Haar Cascade, and resizing images to 100x100 pixels. The CNN model is trained with the preprocessed dataset and saved in .joblib format for real-time face identification. Attendance is automatically recorded in a CSV file. Testing was conducted based on dataset size, distance, and face position relative to the camera. Results show that accuracy improves with more training data. Using 200 images per individual yielded the best balance of accuracy, speed, and storage efficiency unlike 50 images, which often failed, or 500 images, which required long training times and large storage. Lighting quality also significantly impacts recognition accuracy, poor or uneven lighting leads to unclear facial features. Thus, proper lighting is essential. This study demonstrates that CNN effectively supports the digital transformation of attendance systems, making them more accurate, efficient, and fraud-resistant

In the modern industrial era, ergonomic challenges have become increasingly critical, particularly in manual labor sectors that are highly prone to Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). This study aims to design ergonomic work facilities in the Store Department of PT NOK Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, specifically for the pallet transfer process, which is still performed manually. The research methodology integrates the Nordic Body Map (NBM) for identifying MSD complaints, the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) for evaluating working postures, and the Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) for developing ergonomic solutions. The study involved three workers, selected using a saturated sampling technique due to the small population. NBM questionnaire results indicated high levels of physical discomfort, especially in the shoulders, back, and knees. REBA assessments revealed an average risk score of 7, categorized as high, indicating the urgent need for intervention. The ergonomic table was designed based on workers’ anthropometric data and the ENASE ergonomic aspects (Effective, Comfortable, Safe, Healthy, Efficient). The proposed design successfully reduced the REBA score 7, demonstrating a significant improvement in work safety and comfort. This study concludes that applying ergonomic design based on anthropometric data and the EFD method effectively reduces the risk of injury caused by poor working posture, while enhancing efficiency and worker well-being in industrial environment

The increase in the need for building materials must also be accompanied by an increase in the quality of these building materials. One of the building materialsthat is often used in building and housing construction is brick. The purpose of this stury is to determine the results of quality control of brick products using six sigma in reducing product defects in UKM Print Batako Sobirin. Quantitative results of DPMO and Sigma level calculations are carried out in each production year. Furthermore, the process DPMO is obtained in brick production year. Furthermore, the process DPMO is obtained in brik production with an average of 333333 defects. This means that the number of defects that may occur in every million units of poduct is 333333 units. The brick production process is at level 5, namely 1.934 sigma (in the category 233 defects – 233 defects – 6,210 defects). The process carried out still needs to be controlled and improved continuously in order to obtain a decreasing DPMO pattern ad a Sigma level pattern that increases over time to reach level 6 sigma. DMAIC imporvements are focused on the process starting with the preparation of the place, tools, and materials, followed by milling, molding drying, and testing the compressive strength of the bricks.   Consequently, during the post-improvement phase (April-June 2025),the defect rate dropped to an average of 5,5%. Therefore, the application of DMAIC in the Sobirin Brick Making SME can be deemed successful in lowering product defect levels, though additional control is needed to reach optimal results

IMPLEMENTASI NEURAL NETWORK DENGAN METODE LSTM UNTUK PREDIKSI PENJUALAN CHINTARI CAKE AND COOKIES

In the competitive food and beverage industry sector, the ability to accurately predict demand is crucial to supporting effective production and marketing strategies. Chintari Cake and Cookies, a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) specializing in homemade cakes and cookies, faces challenges in dealing with unpredictable demand fluctuations. This study aims to forecast daily sales using the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm, a type of Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) known for its effectiveness in processing sequential data and recognizing long-term patterns. LSTM was chosen due to its advantages over conventional statistical methods such as ARIMA, particularly in terms of prediction accuracy. Five years of historical sales data were used as model input, which was then processed through preprocessing stages before training the LSTM model. The prediction results were evaluated using RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) and MAPE (Mean Absolute Percentage Error) metrics. The results showed an RMSE value of 6.752 and a MAPE value of 6.792, indicating a low prediction error rate. These findings demonstrate that the LSTM algorithm can serve as an effective solution for SMEs in improving the accuracy of production planning and inventory management based on historical data patterns
