Understanding Digitalization in International Trade Firms with an In-Depth Interview
Digitalization stands out as a significant trend reshaping both society and trade. It induces transformations in companies through the integration of digital technologies within their organizational structures and operational contexts. This paper explores digitalization through a lens of diverse case studies conducted to gather data from multiple companies, supplemented by a literature study. The paper introduces the inaugural edition of a digital transformation model, synthesized from the insights gained from these industrial cases, providing a foundational starting point for a methodical approach to address digital transformation. The primary aim of the model is to assist companies in handling the changes linked with digitalization in a systematic manner. Comprising four key steps, the model initiates with situating the company in the digitalization landscape and formulating specific goals. It then proceeds to scrutinize the company's current state in relation to its digitalization objectives. Following this, a roadmap is outlined and implemented to guide the company toward achieving its goals, with the understanding that these steps are iterative and can be revisited multiple times. Despite variations in company situations, these steps offer a systematic approach to navigating digitalization, facilitating the necessary actions for deriving benefits from this transformative process

The Impact of Sustainable Advertising Campaigns on Consumer Behavior
This study examines how sustainable advertising campaigns impact consumer purchasing behavior through a qualitative, phenomenological approach involving 20 participants. Findings indicate three main influences: factors affecting the decision-making process, the impact of sustainability on individuals, and brand trust and loyalty. The decision-making process was most influenced by "individual contribution and responsibility," coded 17 times, showing its strong role in consumer choices, while product quality and efficiency had a lesser impact. The concept of being a "conscious consumer" emerged as the most significant individual influence, indicating that sustainable advertising effectively raises awareness. In terms of brand impact, "brand trust" was more frequently noted than "brand loyalty," suggesting that while sustainable ads build trust, they do not always convert it into loyalty. Overall, the study underscores the importance of responsibility, awareness, and trust in consumer behavior influenced by sustainable advertising
The Impact of Country of Origin on U.S. Consumer Intentions
The country of origin (COO) effect plays a crucial role in consumer decision-making, particularly in a globalized marketplace where it acts as a heuristic influencing perceptions of product quality, brand image, and trust. This study examines the impact of COO on U.S. consumers' purchase intentions, with a specific focus on Turkish origin products and broader COO related dynamics. Using data from 255 U.S. based participants, the research explores COO's function as a cognitive cue shaping consumer evaluations across product categories. Key demographic factors, including education level and duration of residence in the U.S., are analyzed to provide a nuanced understanding of COO’s influence. The findings reveal COO's dual impact: shaping perceptions of Turkish products while also uncovering broader patterns in how COO influences consumer attitudes and purchase decisions. Country image emerges as the strongest predictor of purchase intention, followed by COO perception and Türkiye specific associations. In contrast, product specific attributes like quality and value show limited direct effects, emphasizing the dominance of macro-level perceptions in global consumer behavior. This study provides actionable insights for marketers seeking to leverage COO effectively in positioning strategies. It also contributes to the literature on international trade by offering a detailed analysis of the interplay between COO and consumer behavior, particularly in the context of emerging markets like Türkiye
Examining The Impact of Income - Expense Ratios on Bank Success Using Machine Learning Methods
The study aims to examine the success of banks in the banking sector in terms of financial ratios. In this context, income-expense structure ratios for 24 selected banks operating in Türkiye for the period 2012-2022 were used. In the study, Net Operating Profit (Loss) / Total Assets was considered as the dependent variable. For each year of the 2012-2022 period, the average of the relevant variable was taken, and banks above the average were coded as successful, while those below were coded as unsuccessful. The examination of the period, especially considering the average taken for each year, allowed for the consideration of any emerging vulnerabilities or opportunities given the different cyclical conditions. Classification algorithms are used to determine which of the predefined classes a data point belongs to. The study predicted the 264 data points for the 24 banks for the period 2012-2022 using machine learning methods (Logistic Regression, k-Nearest Neighbors, Support Vector Machines, Artificial Neural Networks, CART, Random Forest, and Light Gradient Boosting Machine). According to the findings, the highest accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score values among the machine learning methods used were shown by XGBoost, while the lowest values were shown by the KNN method. When examining the findings in terms of income-expense structure ratios, the most effective criteria for determining the success of a bank's operations were found to be total income / total expenses, net interest income after specific provisions / total assets, and other operating expenses / gross operating profit. The study found that banks maintaining a balance between income and expenses were successful. Among the machine learning methods used to determine the financial success of banks, XGBoost showed the highest performance. Additionally, the most effective criteria for assessing banks' operational success were identified, highlighting that these criteria are significant indicators for understanding bank performance. This study demonstrated the effectiveness of machine learning methods in evaluating the financial structures of banks and provided an important foundation for future research

Analysing the Effect of Inflation on Economic Growth in Türkiye's Industrial Sector
This paper examines the effect of inflation on economic growth of the industrial sector in Türkiye from 1998:Q1 to 2022:Q4. To achieve this objective, the producer price index is used as a measure of industrial inflation and industrial production index as a measure of the growth of industrial sector. Also, the study captures the effect of exchange rate and unemployment rate. Using a Vector Autoregressive model and Block Exogeneity Granger Causality test, the empirical results suggest that a shock in inflation causes economic growth in the industrial sector to decrease in the short run, increase slightly towards the long run but later drop continually until it becomes stabilized. Also, a shock in economic growth of industrial sector causes a slight increase in the short run and keeps fluctuating in the long run. A shock in unemployment rate causes growth to increase in the short run but fluctuate in the long run. A shock in exchange rate causes growth to decrease in the short run but in the long run it is observed to decrease. The implication of these results is that, in Türkiye inflation causes the economic growth to drop in the short run but eventually stabilizes in the long run. Furthermore, economic growth Granger causes inflation while inflation does not Granger cause economic growth. Based on these findings, policymakers should not over-jealously promote growth that exerts huge inflationary pressures in the economy. Therefore, policymakers need to put anti-inflationary policies in the forefront of economic policies in Türkiye
