The Concept of Charity in The Quran (Comparative Study of Tafsir Fi Zhilalil Qur'an and Tafsir Al-Azhar)

    No full text
This study aims to examine and compare the understanding of two great figures of Islam, Sayyid Qutb and Buya Hamka, in interpreting the concept of alms based on verses of the Qur'an, especially Surat Al-Baqarah verses 261 and 271. The method used is Library research with descriptive-comparative approach. Primary Data were obtained from the work of tafsir Fi Zhilalil Qur'an by Sayyid Qutb and Tafsir Al-Azhar by Buya Hamka, while secondary data came from supporting literature such as books, journals, and other scientific works. Sadaqah is a voluntary gift from a Muslim to the needy, without time and amount limits, as proof of faith and hope for a reward from Allah. In jurisprudence, Sadaqah can refer to the Giving of sunnah (alms attatawwu) or zakat, such as sadaqah al-fitr (zakat Fitr). The results showed that the two mufasir agreed on the importance of alms as a social worship that draws closer to God and benefits others. However, there are differences in the approach to interpretation: Sayyid Qutb emphasizes the spiritual and soul-building aspects of Infaq, while Buya Hamka emphasizes the practical application in social life as well as the long-term impact of alms. This difference reflects the socio-cultural and scientific background of each figure. This study is expected to be a reference in deepening the understanding of the verses of the Qur'an about alms and its application in everyday life

    No full text
This study aims to describe the extent of students' ability to read and present data in the form of line diagrams in the form of visual media. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through participatory observation, interviews, and document reviews involving teachers and students. Data analysis was carried out in three main stages: simplifying the data, presenting the data systematically, and drawing conclusions from the compiled data. This study revealed that the use of visual media such as images not only makes it easier for students to grasp the meaning of the text, but also deepens their overall understanding in interpreting and creating line diagrams. Students become more active and motivated during learning, and teachers realize that the use of visual media can help students understand abstract concepts by transforming them into more concrete and easier to understand concepts. The results of this study indicate that the use of visual media in the learning process can be an effective approach and have a positive influence on improving the ability to read and present data, especially in the material of line diagrams

Reconstructing Qur’anic Educational Terminologies and Their Implementation in the Islamic Education Management System

    No full text
The Qur'an, as a divine source of guidance, contains foundational educational concepts within its verses that are holistic, ethical, and transcendental. This study examines the semantic reconstruction of key Qur'anic educational terms namely ta'līm, tarbiyah, ta'dīb, and tazkiyah, that are often oversimplified or misapplied in contemporary Islamic educational institutions. Drawing upon classical tafsir, prophetic traditions, and contemporary Islamic scholarship, this research aims to revive the authentic meanings and interrelationships of these terms and analyze their integration within the framework of Islamic educational management. Employing a qualitative, library-based research design, this study utilizes hermeneutic and content analysis methods to reinterpret Qur'anic terminologies and align them with modern institutional practices. The findings reveal that each term serves a distinct yet complementary role: ta'līm imparts knowledge, tarbiyah fosters moral and spiritual development, ta'dīb instils ethical discipline, and tazkiyah purifies the soul. This study argues that authentic Islamic education must embody these interconnected values, and that management models in Islamic institutions must be restructured accordingly. The research concludes by proposing a normative model of education management grounded in Qur'anic values such as amanah (trust), 'adl (justice), and rahmah (compassion), emphasizing the educator's role as murabbi, mu'allim, and mu'addib. This reconstruction offers a comprehensive framework for reforming Islamic educational institutions to remain epistemologically faithful and spiritually transformative amidst modern bureaucratic pressures

    No full text
Translation is one of the most essential skills in learning any language, including Arabic, as it facilitates understanding texts from other languages and enhances overall language acquisition. At Gontor for Girls First Campus, particularly among fifth-grade female students of Islamic Teacher Training Collage, translation plays a significant role in academic success. However, many students still encounter challenges in translating Arabic texts effectively. One of the primary factors believed to influence translation performance is reading comprehension. Students with strong reading comprehension skills are better able to grasp the meaning of Arabic texts, thereby improving the accuracy and fluency of their translations. This study aims to investigate the influence of reading comprehension on the translation performance of fifth-grade female students at Islamic Teacher Training Collageduring the 2023–2024 academic year. Employing a quantitative approach with a survey method, the study involved a sample of 110 students. Data were collected through reading and translation tests, along with documentation. The Spearman rho correlation test, conducted using SPSS software, revealed a significant correlation between reading comprehension and translation performance, with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05. Reading comprehension accounted for 12.6% of the variance in translation outcomes, while the remaining 87.4% was attributed to other factors. These findings suggest that although reading comprehension has a measurable impact on translation ability, it is not the sole determinant. Therefore, future research should explore additional cognitive, pedagogical, and affective variables that may contribute to students success in translation. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on language acquisition by underscoring the critical role of reading comprehension in translation learning
