Ṣūfī Networks and Urban Transformation in Sudan through Education and Social Integration
Challenging conventional narratives of militarized Islamic expansion, this study investigates the instrumental role of Ṣūfī institutions in Sudan's peaceful and integrative Islamization. It establishes the significance of these institutions not merely as spiritual centers but as foundational frameworks for social cohesion and community resilience, particularly in response to contemporary crises. Focusing on the peaceful spread of Islam, the research examines how Ṣūfī orders utilized non-coercive mechanisms, including migration, trade, and spiritual mediation, to embed Islamic practices within syncretic societies. Employing institutional ethnography, the methodology reveals the socio-political functions of Ṣūfī centers such as the Masīd and Khalwa. Results demonstrate that these institutions transcended doctrinal roles, becoming engines of urbanization, de-tribalization, and grassroots governance. The research particularly emphasizes the educational, conflict-resolution, and humanitarian contributions of Ṣūfī networks, especially during crises like the April 15, 2023, war. Case studies highlight how spiritual leaders provided shelter, healthcare, and psychological support, reinforcing the Masīd as a moral and communal nucleus. This integrative role underscores the adaptability of Ṣūfīsm in responding to changing social dynamics, offering an enduring model of inclusive governance and interethnic solidarity. The findings contribute to academic discussions on religion and social order, illustrating how faith-based institutions can serve as resilient frameworks for community development in fragile states
Governmentality, Religion, and Sustainability: Reinterpreting Marine Tourism Governance in the SDGs Era
This research is in the field of religious, social, and cultural studies, focusing on marine tourism governance from the perspective of governmentality and the interaction between power, spirituality, and sustainability. Papuma Beach in Jember Regency was chosen as the study location because it illustrates the complexity of coastal tourism management, which is fraught with economic interests and formal power, but on the other hand has a strong spiritual value system in the local community. This research aims to identify the forms of power at work in tourism management and understand how religion plays a role in the production of meaning around sustainability and resistance to technocratic development models. The methods used are a critical qualitative approach with participatory observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentary studies. The results show that the dominance of the state and market in the management of Papuma tourism creates cultural dislocation and marginalization of local communities. However, the community has developed various forms of symbolic resistance and alternative practices based on religious values and local wisdom. This study contributes to the development of governmentality theory in a local context and expands the discourse on sustainability by integrating maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah and eco-theology as analytical frameworks. In conclusion, equitable tourism development can only be achieved through participatory governance rooted in community values. These findings are important as a basis for formulating contextual, fair, and locally rooted sustainable tourism policies
Improving the Professional Competence of Teachers through Learning Communities
This study explores community activities that contribute to enhancing teachers' professional competence. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, encompassing data collection, analysis, and reporting. Findings reveal that learning communities within schools significantly support teachers’ learning processes and foster improvements in their professional competencies, evident in their teaching practices, material delivery, and commitment to the profession. The study underscores the importance of learning communities as platforms for sharing best practices, deepening content knowledge, enhancing pedagogical skills, and developing innovative teaching strategies—thereby cultivating a culture of professionalism and lifelong learning. Furthermore, the research contributes to the development of a collective-based professional development model that prioritizes collaboration over individual training, which often lacks sustained impact. Lastly, learning communities are shown to foster a sense of belonging and support among teachers, increasing motivation, self-confidence, and willingness to experiment with new approaches. This research thus strengthens the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum by promoting collaborative and sustainable professional development for teachers.

The Effect of the Implementation of the Cooperative Learning Model Type Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) on Creativity, Initiative, Motivation and Student Learning Outcomes
This study investigates the implementation and impact of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model in the Islamic Cultural History (Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam/SKI) curriculum at Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) in Rejang Lebong Regency. The objectives are twofold: (1) to describe the application of the STAD model in classroom settings, and (2) to analyze its influence on students’ creativity, initiative, motivation, and learning outcomes. Employing a quantitative research design, data were collected from a sample of 35 students using validated and reliable questionnaires. These instruments measured key variables such as creativity, initiative, motivation, and academic performance. Statistical analysis revealed that the STAD model significantly enhances students’ creativity, initiative, and motivation. Although a positive trend was observed in learning outcomes, its impact was comparatively moderate. The findings underscore the effectiveness of structured cooperative learning in promoting active engagement and supporting the development of 21st-century competencies within the SKI subject area. The study concludes that STAD is a valuable pedagogical strategy that benefits student-centered learning but recommends adaptations for optimal outcomes. Suggested improvements include rotating student roles within teams, integrating holistic assessment tools, providing teacher training in group facilitation, implementing project-based learning activities, and incorporating contextual Islamic case studies to enrich content relevance and critical thinking
Strategies to Increase Teacher Innovativeness through Strengthening Learning Organisation, Creativity, Self-Efficacy and Job Satisfaction
The rapid evolution of the educational landscape and the growing demand for adaptability underscore the need for teachers to continuously develop innovative capabilities as part of their sustainable professional growth. This study aims to identify optimal strategies, methods, and solutions for enhancing teacher innovativeness. Employing a quantitative research approach grounded in established theoretical frameworks, the study was conducted over a two-year period. The sample consisted of 121 civil servant teachers from 12 public elementary schools across six districts in Depok City. The findings reveal that five direct influence hypotheses were supported, while two were not. In contrast, all hypotheses related to indirect influences were accepted. The results suggest that fostering a learning organization and increasing job satisfaction are key strategies for enhancing teacher innovativeness. Implementation should focus on strengthening weak indicators within each variable and prioritizing interventions based on their strategic importance. This study contributes to the body of knowledge by offering actionable insights for developing innovative teaching practices through targeted, evidence-based strategies and solutions.

Improving Rumi Reading Proficiency thorugh Literature Circle Model at Phitakvitayak Kumung School Southern Thailand
This study investigates the impact of the Literature Circle model on enhancing Malay Rumi reading proficiency and critical thinking skills among Mattayom 1 students at Phitakvitayak Kumung School in Southern Thailand. Adopting a quantitative experimental design, the research utilized pre-test and post-test assessments to evaluate changes in students’ reading performance, analyzed using SPSS. The results indicate a statistically significant improvement in reading proficiency following the intervention. For example, one student’s score increased from 60 to 80, reflecting a 20-point gain; similar improvements were recorded across the cohort. A paired sample t-test confirmed the significance of these gains, yielding a t-value of 58.169 and a p-value of 0.0001 (p < 0.05). Additionally, participation in Literature Circle discussions fostered the development of critical thinking abilities, including text analysis, questioning techniques, and comparative reasoning. This study contributes to the expanding field of collaborative literacy instruction by providing empirical evidence for the effectiveness of the Literature Circle model in multilingual, cross-cultural, and minority language contexts. Specifically, it advances the understanding of Rumi Malay pedagogy an area that remains under-explored by highlighting the model's potential to enhance both reading proficiency and higher-order thinking skills among learners in Southern Thailand.
Strengthening Participatory Civic Skills of Gen Z in the Digital Era: Innovation in Civic Education
This study analyzes the strengthening of participatory citizenship skills among Generation Z students in the digital age, with a particular focus on their abilities to engage with public issues, monitor policies, and influence political processes. Using a qualitative approach with 150 participants, data were collected through open-ended questionnaire-based interviews and analyzed using thematic techniques. The research findings indicate that although students demonstrate advanced discursive skills and actively engage in online discussions, their participatory practices exhibit a spectrum of sophistication ranging from basic digital deliberation to more strategic forms of collaboration, such as advocacy, investigation, and documentation. However, these skills often face significant internal and external barriers, including public apathy, misinformation, and unsupportive socio-political practices. The study underscores the urgent need for innovative citizenship education that embraces experiential learning, digital collaboration, and project-based approaches that are adaptive to the characteristics of Generation Z. Recommendations The findings of this study make an important contribution to education because they offer ways to shape responsible citizens through digital integration, participatory pedagogy, and critical digital literacy
A Civilian Ownership and Use of Firearms in Indonesia: A Juridical and Human Rights Analysis
This study explores the legal mechanisms that govern civilian firearm ownership and utilization within Indonesia, examined from both juridical and human rights perspectives. The primary aim of this investigation is to analyze the statutory framework controlling civilian gun possession, evaluate the implementation of existing regulations, and identify challenges in firearm surveillance and regulation. The research adopts a normative legal methodology incorporating statutory analysis and comparative examination approaches. Results indicate that Indonesia implements highly restrictive measures regarding civilian firearm ownership through an extensive licensing framework, as outlined in National Police Regulation Number 1 of 2022. The investigation also identified significant gaps between comprehensive regulatory provisions and practical enforcement, especially concerning the oversight of unauthorized weapon distribution. The study concludes that enhanced inter-agency monitoring systems and collaborative frameworks are essential to achieve balance between personal security entitlements and collective public protection

Sanctions for Rape Crime in Decision Number 156/Pid.Sus/2020/PN.Pkb. Perspective of Islamic Criminal Law
Rape is a serious crime that violates the law and human dignity. However, court rulings, such as Decision No. 156/Pid.Sus/2020/PN.Pkb, often impose light sentences that are not commensurate with the serious impact experienced by the victims. This study aims to examine the chronology of the case, the reasons behind the judge's decision to impose a lenient sentence, the impact of the decision on crime prevention, as well as the elements and penalties for the crime of child rape under the perspective of Islamic Criminal Law. Using a case approach, normative legal methodology, and qualitative data, the data was collected through library research and analyzed using content analysis. This study draws on modern legal theory, the theory of Maqashid Syariah, and the theory of jarimah ta'zir. The findings reveal a significant imbalance between the severity of the criminal act and the leniency of the imposed sanctions, which undermines the objectives of modern legal theory and the theory of Maqashid Syariah. In this case, the defendant was sentenced to six years in prison, despite the applicable law (Article 81(3)) allowing for a maximum sentence of fifteen years. Furthermore, Islamic law does not explicitly stipulate punishment for rape in the Quran, scholars analogize it to the law of adultery as outlined in the Quran, Surah An-Nur, Verse 2. As for the Hadith narrated by Muhammad bin Yahya Al-Naisaburi, it supports similar penalties for rape and adultery, with the main difference being that only the perpetrator is punished
