Digital transformation in the world of education has encouraged the use of interactive learning applications as a potential means to support foreign language acquisition, including Arabic. However, there has not been much research that examines the integration of these applications from a cognitive perspective theoretically. This research aims to deeply examine how interactive learning applications support Arabic language learning based on cognitive learning theories, such as information processing theory, cognitive constructivism, and cognitive load theory. The scope of the research includes the identification of cognitive features in the application, their relevance in Arabic language learning, and the potential for future development. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with literature study and content analysis techniques on academic literature such as articles, books, and other literature. Data sources are analyzed theoretically to reveal the contribution of interactive applications to the learning process from a cognitive perspective. The study results show that interactive applications support Arabic language learning through five main aspects: activation of initial cognitive attention, reinforcement of long-term memory through multimodality, knowledge construction, reduction of cognitive load, and enhancement of direct feedback. These findings prove that learning applications are not only technical aids but also pedagogical tools capable of enhancing the quality of language internalization. The conclusion of this study states that the integration of interactive learning applications in the context of the Arabic language is highly relevant and effective if based on cognitive principles. This research contributes scientifically to the development of technology-based Arabic language teaching strategies that are more adaptive to the mental processes of learners. Suggestions for future research include conducting further theoretical analyses on specific types of applications, exploring how different cognitive principles are represented in newer technologies, and expanding the literature review to include studies from diverse educational contexts and learner profiles

    No full text
The importance of mastering Arabic syntax for Muslims makes this field widely sought after, not only among young learners but also among adults. However, innovations in Arabic syntax instruction tailored to the needs of adult learners are still rarely developed. This study aims to describe the application of an inductive-based technique, namely Mistake Buster, in teaching Arabic syntax, particularly the structure of jumlah fi‘liyyah. The study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach involving five adult female learners over the age of 20 in a semi-private Naḥwu Class program. The results show that adult learners not only better understand the structure of jumlah fi‘liyyah but also gain a deeper understanding of i‘rāb. Learners also better understand types of kalimah and their differences; recognize the kinds, meanings, and patterns of jumlah; understand the appropriate use of ṣifah in fā’il or maf‘ūl bih; and are able to analyze elements such as fi‘il, fā’il, maf‘ūl bih, ḥarf, isim majrūr, and ṣifah in a jumlah, along with their i‘rāb signs. In addition, their activeness, curiosity, self-confidence, critical thinking, memory, and motivation improve. This study contributes significantly to Arabic syntax instruction for adult learners and recommends developing instructional materials or media based on the Mistake Buster technique

    No full text
The ability to maintain unbiassed in football match commentary can be influenced by politeness strategies, which are a part of communication strategies. These strategies create a good relationship between the commentator and the audience, and also make the delivery of criticism or analysis more neutral and respectful. Nevertheless, there is a lack of research focusing on the effects of politeness strategies on objectivity in the sports domain, particularly in highly competitive matches or stressful situations, as previous studies examining politeness strategies have generally addressed the context of everyday communication. The reasearch aims to evaluate the effectiveness of politeness strategies in maintaining bias during commentary in football matches. This study used Brown and Levinson's Politeness Strategies theory and John C. Merrill's journalist ethical principles. This research used a descriptive qualitative method with data analysis of match commentary transcripts.  The results showed that the application of politeness strategies can maintain the objectivity of statements made during football match comments because in politeness strategies there is an attitude of respect for both parties involved in communication and does not show partiality to any party and does not put pressure on anyone without reducing the quality of the analysis delivered

    No full text
The use of English in the workplace is increasingly crucial, especially in service sectors such as coffee shops, which serve customers from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Baristas, as the spearhead of service, are not only required to be proficient in preparing coffee but also to communicate effectively, including in English. This study aims to uncover the methods baristas use at Naya Coffee Shop to learn English and the difficulties they encounter during this process. A descriptive qualitative approach was used in this study, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that baristas tend to rely on hands-on learning methods, such as CLT and Immersion, as they align with communication needs in the workplace. Formal methods such as Grammar- Translation and Blended Learning were not used due to their lack of relevance in their work context. The main obstacles baristas face in learning English include limited vocabulary, low self-confidence, and the pressure of serving foreign customers. These findings emphasize the importance of a work- based, hands-on, and practical learning approach to support English development in a professional work setting
