    Țibbun Nabawī as a Drug Recovery Strategy: Rebuilding Norms and Self-Identity

    Recovery from drug addiction is a complex process that requires a holistic approach that encompasses physical, mental, social and spiritual aspects. This research explores Țibbun Nabawī, a prophetic medicine approach derived from the teachings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad, as an effective rehabilitation strategy for victims of drug abuse at at Yayasan Pengasih Insan Karima (YAPIKA), Indonesia. Unlike conventional rehabilitation methods, Țibbun Nabawī integrates spiritual healing with physical and psychological recovery, which plays an important role in rebuilding social norms and personal identity. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection methods include in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. The analytical technique utilized is the source triangulation analysis method, which incorporates principles from spiritual-based recovery and social identity theory. The research findings reveal that the integration of Islamic values in rehabilitation strengthens individuals' motivation to overcome addiction. Spiritual practices such as Qur'an memorization, ażān therapy, and Islamic studies significantly enhance spiritual awareness, while group therapy and social skills training help rebuild social relationships. This study contributes to the discourse of faith-based rehabilitation by mapping Țibbun Nabawī as a structured and holistic addiction recovery strategy. The findings offer practical recommendations for policy makers, rehabilitation centers, and communities to implement a more effective and sustainable recovery framework. Ultimately, this study highlights the importance of integrating Islamic teachings in social rehabilitation, which paves the way for further research on the effectiveness of faith-based approaches in treating addiction

    Latar belakang masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah merosotnya akhlak anak-anak pada usia dini yang disebabkan wabah corona. Terjadinya kemerosotan akhlak pada masa pandemi covid-19 dikarenakan pembelajaran yang dilakukan secara daring. Aktivitas yang biasa dilakukan di madrasah tidak dapat dilakukan secara maksimal pada pembelajaran daring. Sehingga guru pendidikan agama Islam diharapkan dapat memberikan upaya-upaya dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai pendidikan akhlak secara langsung maupun tidak langsung kepada seluruh siswa MIN Sibuhuan. Rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini adalah: 1). Apa upaya yang dilakukan guru pendidikan agama Islam dalam membina akhlak siswa MIN Sibuhuan Kabupaten Padang Lawas pada masa pandemi covid-19. 2). Apa kendala yang dihadapi guru pendidikan agama Islam dalam membina akhlak siswa di MIN Sibuhuan Kabupaten Padang Lawas pada masa pandemi covid-19. 3). Apa solusi yang dilakukan guru pendidikan agama Islam dalam membina akhlak siswa di MIN Sibuhuan Kabupaten Padang Lawas pada masa pandemi covid-19 Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Sumber data yang digunakan pada penelitian terdiri dari sumber data primer dan sekunder. Sumber data primer dalam penelitian ini adalah guru PAI MIN Sibuhuan. Sedangkan sumber data sekunder adalah kepada madrasah, siswa, orang tua, dan masyarakat sekitar MIN Sibuhuan. Teknik yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data penelitian ini adalah wawancara, observasi, dan dokumen MIN Sibuhuan. Sedangkan teknik analisis data yang digunakan pada penelitian adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1). Upaya yang dilakukan guru pendidikan agama Islam dalam membina akhlak siswa MIN Sibuhuan, diantaranya: penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan akhlak pada saat proses pembelajaran, membangun pembiasaan, memberikan teladan, melalui kasih sayang, memberikan nasihat, melalui cerita kisah-kisah, pemberian penghargaan dan hukuman. 2). Dalam melakukan pembinaan akhlak terdapat beberapa kendala, diantaranya: terbatasnya pengawasan dari pihak madrasah, kurangnya minat dan kesadaran siswa, sarana yang kurang, pengaruh tayangan televisi, dan pengaruh lingkungan. 3). Solusi yang dapat dilakukan guru pendidikan agama Islam, diantaranya: membangkitkan minat dan kesadaran siswa, menjalin komunikasi dengan orang tua, dan kerja sama guru dan orang tua

    Penelitian ini membahas tentang bagaimana peran pendidikan Islam dalam membentuk moral siswa di dalam kelas. Tujuannya adalah agar pengembangan karakter siswa dapat berkontribusi pada penurunan moral yang terjadi di masyarakat kita saat ini. Menemukan cara untuk menggunakan ide-ide pendidikan Islam untuk mengembangkan karakter siswa di dalam kelas sehingga mereka dapat menggunakannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari adalah tujuan utama dari penelitian ini. Data dikumpulkan dan dianalisis dari berbagai sumber teks dalam studi ini menggunakan proses tinjauan pustaka sistematis. Buku referensi pendidikan karakter dan publikasi lain yang membahas pendidikan karakter adalah sumber dokumentasi yang digunakan. Sumber-sumber materi ini termasuk buku, jurnal, makalah, dan karya ilmiah lainnya yang berkaitan dengan pengajaran agama dan pengembangan karakter siswa. Masalah yang muncul saat mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai pendidikan Islam juga diungkapkan oleh studi ini. Namun, nilai-nilai Islam dalam pendidikan memiliki kekuatan untuk membentuk dan memperkuat karakter siswa serta mempersiapkan mereka menghadapi dilema moral di dunia modern jika diterapkan dengan benar.     Penelitian ini menyelidiki bagaimana pendidikan Islam mempengaruhi kepribadian dan karakter siswa. dengan fokus pada nilai-nilai spiritual dan moral. Kepribadian merupakan hasil dari proses perkembangan panjang yang dipengaruhi oleh lingkungan, pendidikan, dan pengalaman hidup seseorang. Pendidikan karakter, terutama dalam konteks pendidikan Islam, menekankan nilai-nilai spiritual dan moral sebagai landasan pembentukan karakter siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk menjelaskan bagaimana nilai-nilai tersebut diterapkan pada siswa melalui pembiasaan, keteladanan, pengajaran, dan pengondisian. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa praktik keagamaan rutin seperti sholat dhuha bersama, kegiatan disiplin seperti menjaga kebersihan lingkungan sekolah, dan sikap toleransi yang dicontohkan oleh guru memainkan peran penting dalam pembentukan karakter siswa. Kurikulum 2013 yang mencakup indikator karakter kebangsaan, termasuk religiusitas, kejujuran, dan toleransi, turut mendukung upaya pembentukan karakter yang kuat.     Artikel ini menyoroti karakteristik moral dan karakter yang terdapat dalam pendidikan Islam sambil membahas filosofi pendidikan Ki Hajar Dewantara sebagai dasar pendidikan di era digital. Untuk menyelidiki gagasan-gagasan utama dalam filosofi pendidikan dan bagaimana hal itu mempengaruhi perkembangan karakter siswa, studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Dengan meneliti secara mendalam gagasan para pemimpin pendidikan Islam seperti al-Ghazali dan Ibn Khaldun, artikel ini menekankan nilai pendidikan sebagai sarana ibadah dan tanggung jawab pribadi kepada Allah, masyarakat, dan diri sendiri. Esai ini juga menyoroti kesulitan-kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa dalam proses pendidikan di era digital, serta perlunya integrasi nilai-nilai karakter dalam kurikulum pendidikan.     Between Coercion and Compassion: A Comparative Analysis of ‘Amr al-Maʻrūf Nahy ʻan al-Munkar in Qāḍī ʻAbd al-Jabbār’s Rationalism and Abū Ḥāmid al-Gazālī’s Sufi Ethics

    This article explores the concept of ‘Amr al-Maʻrūf Nahy ʻan al-Munkar (enjoining righteousness and forbidding evil) in Islamic theology through a comparative analysis of two influential thinkers: Qāḍī ʻAbd al-Jabbār (Muʻtazilī rationalist) and Abū Ḥāmid al-Gazālī (Asyʻarī-Sufi scholar). Modern religious violence frequently arises from stringent interpretations of these teachings, highlighting the necessity to examine how classical scholars reconciled ethical imperatives with humanistic principles. The study analyzes primary texts using hermeneutic and comparative methods, including Qāḍī ʻAbd al-Jabbār’s Syarh al-Uṣūl al-Khamsah and Abū Ḥāmid al-Gazālī’s Iḥyā’ ʻUlūm al-Dīn, to illustrate differing approaches. While Qāḍī ʻAbd al-Jabbār focused on rational-legal criteria for intervention, Abū Ḥāmid al-Gazālī emphasized spiritual intention and social harmony. Key findings show (1) the Muʻtazilī prioritization of systemic justice and epistemic clarity versus the Sufi focus on moral self-reformation and gradualism; (2) the role of humanism (e.g., reducing harm, maintaining dignity) across both frameworks despite theological differences; and (3) their relevance to modern debates on religious authority and pluralism. The study concludes that these classical models offer nuanced alternatives to coercive enforcement of ‘Amr al-Maʻrūf Nahy ʻan al-Munkar, promoting a compassion-driven ethics adaptable to diverse socioreligious contexts. Therefore, this article is intended to introduce a novel conceptual framework by bridging Muʻtazilī rationalism and Sufi ethics in understanding the doctrine of ‘Amr al-Maʻrūf Nahy ʻan al-Munkar, integrating rational-legal principles with spiritual compassion to reinterpret this duty beyond a coercive paradigm.     Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC) Trade Accounting as an Instrument of Colonial Power: A Case Study of Palembang Darussalam in the 18th Century

    This study examines the accounting practices of the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC) in Palembang during the Palembang Sultanate, which not only represented economic activities but also functioned as a tool of colonial power. Trade activities at that time involved relationships between regions, kingdoms, sultanates, and foreign countries. The VOC, as the representative of the Dutch, conducted accounting records in trade activities in Palembang. This study aims to reveal how VOC accounting practices became part of the economic and political domination strategy over the Palembang Sultanate. The study employs Social Construction Theory and Conventional Accounting Theory. The method used is qualitative with a heuristic approach to 18th-century VOC archives. Data was collected through document studies, archives, photographs, and manuscripts obtained from the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia and private collections. The findings reveal that VOC accounting practices were not neutral activities but were used to control commodity flows, set prices, and negotiate local power. These practices reflect efforts to strengthen colonial hegemony through accounting instruments. The findings of this study confirm that VOC economic record-keeping during the Palembang Sultanate was an important part of colonial economic and political strategy. Additionally, this research contributes to colonial history studies by demonstrating that trade archives are not merely sources of economic data but are also rich in ideological and power-related meanings

    Petik Laut as Cultural Resilience: Balancing Tradition and Modern Life in the Coastal Community of Banyuwangi, Indonesia

    The Petik Laut tradition in Grajagan Village, Banyuwangi, Indonesia, represents a significant maritime cultural practice that reflects the spiritual connection coastal communities have with the sea. This tradition has been observed since 1977, yet it now confronts challenges posed by modernization and globalization. While scholarly discourse around maritime traditions has increased, there remains a lack of systematic research examining the social reproduction mechanisms that contribute to their continuity. This study seeks to investigate how the meanings and functions of Petik Laut are expressed in the social and spiritual lives of the community. It explores how these communities negotiate traditional values in the face of modern influences and examines the extent to which Petik Laut serves as a mechanism for cultural resilience amid globalization. Utilizing Pierre Bourdieu's social practice theory, this qualitative ethnographic study analyzes the interactions among habitus, capital, and field. Research was conducted in Grajagan Village, Banyuwangi, from September to December, 2024. Data collection involved interviews with ten informants, including traditional leaders, fishermen, village officials, and community members, as well as participant observation and documentation studies. Thematic analysis revealed patterns associated with habitus formation, capital mobilization, and negotiations within the field. The findings indicate that Petik Laut serves as a complex social reproduction mechanism, wherein spiritual habitus interacts with various forms of capital: cultural, economic, social, and symbolic. Specifically, the tradition functions as a spiritual ritual embodying cosmological beliefs, a mechanism for social solidarity through gotong royong (communal cooperation), a source of cultural capital that enhances tourism appeal, and a symbolic arena for negotiating authority and identity. The tradition persists through strategic adaptation, successfully maintaining its spiritual core while embracing digital documentation and engaging younger generations. This study underscores how coastal communities exercise cultural agency within structural constraints, preserving their collective identity through creative adaptation. The findings contribute to the decolonization of social theory and inform culturally sensitive development policies that acknowledge traditional practices as essential foundations for sustainable coastal management

    Building Resilience in Sandwich-Generation Families: Financial Literacy and Emergency Fund Ownership from an Islamic Socio-Cultural Perspective

    Families in the sandwich-generation shoulder responsibilities for children and elderly parents, creating significant financial strain. This study examines how demographic characteristics and financial literacy, encompassing knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour, affect emergency fund ownership among sixty sandwich-generation households in Bogor Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through structured interviews and supported by several in-depth interviews to capture socio-cultural context. Descriptive statistics, Spearman/Kendal tau-b correlation, and logistic regression were employed in the analysis. The findings indicate that most respondents demonstrated low financial knowledge and poor financial behaviour, though their financial attitudes were moderately positive. More than half of the families lacked adequate emergency savings, with higher income significantly improving the likelihood of ownership, while a greater number of children reduced it. Importantly, financial knowledge emerged as a positive and significant predictor of emergency fund ownership. Beyond economic implications, the results highlight the socio-religious dimension of family resilience. In Islamic tradition, safeguarding wealth (ḥifẓ al-māl) and fulfilling intergenerational obligations reflect both moral duty and social solidarity. Thus, strengthening financial literacy not only enhances economic security but also aligns with Islamic values of prudence, responsibility, and care for family members. Integrating these insights contributes to a deeper socio-cultural understanding of resilience within Muslim families
