Strategies for Managing EFL Speaking Anxiety in an Indonesian University: A Sequential Explanatory Study
This study examines how EFL students in Kalimantan, Indonesia, handle speaking anxiety. Using a sequential explanatory design, data were collected from 50 fifth-semester university students through questionnaires, interviews, and document analysis. Results reveal that trait anxiety (64%) is more dominant than specific-situation anxiety (36%). The most widely used strategies include preparation (100%), relaxation (88%), and positive thinking (88%), while peer seeking (50%) is less frequent, and no students adopt resignation. These findings highlight the need for structured practice, relaxation methods, and collaborative learning to build confidence. Integrating these approaches into EFL instruction can foster better communication skills. Future research should assess their long-term impact and explore technology-based solutions for anxiety reduction
Ekonomi Qurani: Upaya Menjaga stabilitas ekonomi Di Tengah Ketidakpastian Global
Increasing global economic uncertainty, characterized by international market fluctuations, economic crises, and the effects of climate change, demands a search for a more stable and sustainable economic model. One attractive approach is Quranic economics, which is based on the teachings of the Qur'an and Islamic principles. This article explores how Quranic economics can contribute to maintaining economic stability amid global uncertainty. The research utilizes the content analysis method of relevant literature to identify the basic principles of Quranic economics and their applicability in the global context. The results show that the key principles of Quranic economics include social justice, prohibition of usury, transparency and honesty, and environmental responsibility. The implementation of these principles can be done through sharia-based financial systems, prudent risk management, sustainable economic development, microeconomic empowerment, and wealth redistribution. By applying these principles, economic stability and better welfare are expected. Despite the challenges, the potential benefits of a Quranic economy offer a significant alternative to global uncertainty

Empathy-Based Learning Model to Enhance Social-Emotional Development in Early Childhood
This study aims to analyze the influence of empathy-based learning models on the social and emotional development of early childhood in Lubuk Linggau City. The background to this research stems from the fact that many early childhood education institutions still focus on academic skills, resulting in underdevelopment of social and emotional aspects. This is despite the fact that the ages of 4–6 are considered the golden age. Age is a period when empathy, emotional regulation, and social interaction skills experience rapid development and are greatly influenced by the quality of the learning environment. This study used a quantitative approach. The research sample consisted of children aged 5–6 years and teachers from several early childhood education institutions in Lubuk Linggau City selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments were validated questionnaires and observation sheets, while data analysis was conducted using paired t-tests and simple regression. The results showed a significant increase in children's social-emotional abilities after participating in an empathy-based learning model. The average score increased from 62.14 (moderate category) to 81.72 (good category), with a t-value of 9.87 and a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Improvements occurred in all social-emotional indicators, namely empathy (32%), prosocial behavior (31%), positive social interaction (29%), emotional regulation (28%), and the ability to cooperate (25%). These findings confirm that the empathy-based learning model is effective in improving the social-emotional competence of early childhood. This study recommends that PAUD institutions integrate empathy-oriented learning strategies more systematically to strengthen social-emotional skills as the foundation of child development
The Meaning of the Verses of Tasybih At-Tamtsil in Surah An-Nahl: An Analysis of Balaghah and Its Relevance to Islamic Religious Education
This study aims to analyze the use of language styles tasybīh at-tamtsil in the Surah An-Nahl and reveal the relevance of the symbolic meaning of these verses to Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This research is a qualitative-descriptive study with a balaghah (bayān) and stylistic approach, through a literature study of the parable verses in the Surah An-Nahl, especially verses 74–75, 76, 91–92, and 112. The study results show that tasybīh at-tamtsil, the parables in this Surah, not only serve as rhetorical decoration, but also contain strong values of faith, morality, social, and spirituality. These parables illustrate the dangers of polytheism, the importance of keeping promises, social responsibility, and the threat to a society that denies blessings. This study concludes that integrating balaghah analysis into Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning can strengthen students' understanding of the messages of the Qur'an aesthetically and educationally. Therefore, the balaghah approach can be a strategic alternative in developing an Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum based on character and the values of monotheism
Konsep Ketuhanan dalam Al-Qur'an: Relevansinya terhadap Tantangan Sekularisme, Nihilisme, dan Relativisme Keagamaan
The Qur'an differentiates between the term "God," which can refer to idols, deities, or desires, and the name "Allah," which uniquely denotes the Almighty Creator. Unlike "God," the name "Allah" signifies an exclusive and supreme title that belongs solely to Him, as only Allah possesses the attributes of absolute existence, perfection, and majesty. This study aims to analyze the historical origins of the name "Allah," its contextual use in the Qur'an, and its role in affirming the monotheistic belief in Islam. The research employs a historical and textual interpretative approach to uncover the progression of the term "Allah" from its early linguistic roots to its Qur'anic application. The findings reveal that the Qur'an systematically elevates and purifies the term "Allah," restoring it to its rightful monotheistic dimension, distinct from other conceptualizations of divinity. This underscores the Qur'anic assertion that Allah is the One and Only God, without equal and transcendent above all
Makar dalam Al-Qur’an: Analisis Tafsir Tematik atas Pergeseran Makna dan Relasi Kekuasaan
The term makar is one of the Qur’anic concepts that has undergone significant semantic expansion and transformation as it intersects with modern social, political, and legal contexts. This article examines makar in the Qur’an through a thematic tafsīr approach by identifying Qur’anic verses containing the term and comparing interpretations from classical, medieval, and contemporary exegetes. The study employs verse inventory, cross-period tafsīr analysis, and contextual reading to explore the relationship between the meaning of makar and shifting configurations of power. Theoretically, this article contributes to thematic Qur’anic exegesis by conceptualizing makar as a relational and dynamic category that mediates between textual meaning and changing regimes of power, thereby bridging Qur’anic studies with critical analyses of religion and authority. The findings demonstrate that makar in the Qur’an is not a static concept but one that moves from visible physical actions to symbolic and discursive strategies; from personal conflicts between prophets and rulers to structural relations between elites and society; and from specific historical events to broader ethical reflection. The article further argues that attributing makar to God functions as an expression of divine justice that constrains and overturns human ambitions for domination, rather than legitimizing manipulative practices. Consequently, a Qur’anic reading of makar provides a more cautious and reflective conceptual framework for understanding the tensions between religion, law, and power in contemporary Muslim societies
Islamic Approach to Violations against the Sanctity of the Deceased: A Case Study on Necrophilia in Islam
This article investigates the legal implications of necrophilia within the framework of Islamic law, specifically addressing whether such acts can be categorized as zinā ‘adultery’. The primary aim of this research is to analyze how Islamic teachings interpret and regulate sexual relations with deceased individuals, with a focus on the fundamental principles of human dignity and sanctity. Utilizing a qualitative method alongside a case study approach, this study involves a comprehensive review of Islamic texts, legal cases, and scholarly interpretations. The data sources encompass Islamic literature, the Qur'an, Hadith, and legal references, including scientific journals and academic books. The theoretical framework is anchored in the concepts of maqāşid syarī’ah, particularly the preservation of religion ‘ḥifẓ al-dīn’, intellect ‘ḥifẓ al-aql’, and life ‘ḥifẓ al-nafs’. The findings indicate that necrophilia is regarded as a serious violation under Islamic law, representing a breach of both moral and legal standards, which results in stringent penalties. In conclusion, this study underscores the importance of upholding the dignity of the human body after death, as mandated by Islamic law. This research contributes by clarifying how Islamic law addresses necrophilia and reinforcing societal norms related to the sanctity of life and death
Cross-Cultural Aesthetics: Integrating Abaya and K-Fashion in Contemporary Muslim Fashion Design
Acculturation in fashion arises as a result of globalization, fostering the integration of local and global cultural elements to create a modern style that adheres to Sharia principles. Two prominent forms of fashion that exemplify this cultural acculturation are the abaya and K-fashion. This article seeks to analyze how young Muslim Gen Z navigates the acculturation of abaya and K-fashion, particularly in their adaptation to local culture and Islamic Sharia guidelines. Additionally, the article underscores the necessity for government support for local fashion industry players who blend global trends, such as K-fashion and abaya, with a distinctly local cultural approach. This support may encompass training, financing, and promotion in international markets. Moreover, the article examines the role of globalization in developing a unique identity for Muslim women and its implications for the fashion industry. The research employs a descriptive qualitative methodology with an anthropological lens, utilizing modeling strategies that encompass attention, retention, reproduction, and motivation. Data for this study were collected through interviews, journals, books, and digital communication platforms, including WhatsApp and Instagram. The results demonstrate that preferences in Muslim women's fashion are heavily influenced by exposure to social media (attention), which drives individuals to purchase these fashion products (retention). The diverse options available can be tailored to align with Islamic norms and Sharia principles (reproduction), thus motivating individuals to curate their fashion collections (motivation)
Samarra and the Spatial Politics of Power: Reassessing the Abbasid Capital Relocation under al-Mu‘taṣim
The relocation of the Abbasid capital from Baghdad to Samarra in 836 CE under Caliph al-Mu‘taṣim has long been interpreted as a decisive administrative maneuver that temporarily redefined the geography of Islamic governance. However, prevailing narratives often overlook the deeper political complexities and long-term ramifications of this move. This article seeks to reassess the motivations behind al-Mu‘taṣim’s decision and critically examine the consequences of transferring the seat of power to Samarra. Employing a historical-analytical methodology grounded in primary and secondary sources, the study interrogates factors such as military exigencies, personal predilections, and the caliph’s broader political calculus. The findings reveal that while Samarra emerged as a militarized enclave catering to the needs of the Turkish guard, it failed to eclipse Baghdad’s enduring political and symbolic centrality. The relocation inadvertently exacerbated factionalism and destabilized the caliphal institution, particularly under al-Mu‘taṣim’s successors. This article concludes that the capital shift did not yield the strategic coherence envisioned by its architect and, instead, exposes the fragility of centralized authority within the Abbasid polity. By reevaluating a pivotal yet understudied episode in Abbasid history, the study contributes to broader discussions on urban relocation, imperial governance, and the limits of caliphal power. Further research is needed to explore the longue durée implications of Samarra’s decline for subsequent Islamic political configurations
