La geografia come monumento. Il progetto di Auguste Perret per Le Havre
No full textIn the Auguste Perret’s project for Le Havre a clearly compact form, evocative of urbanity of the historical city, is defined starting from the relations established with those elements of physical geography which constitute the identity of the place where the city is located, and builds a significant relationship with the open and vast spaces of nature, thus acquiring the ‘size’ and those features of the contemporary city. In its public spaces, which refer to a culture of inhabiting that is rooted in the more general history of the French city, Le Havre represents itself and translates in the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, the steep slopes of the cliff, in the Porte Oceane the distant horizon of the ocean, in the Front-de-mer South the other bank of the mouth of the Seine, and defines these as the real 'monuments' of the city.Nel progetto di Auguste Perret per Le Havre una forma chiaramente compatta ed evocativa dell’urbanità della città storica si definisce a partire dalle relazioni stabilite con quegli elementi della geografia fisica che costituiscono l’identità del luogo nel quale questa si colloca, e costruisce una significativa relazione con gli spazi aperti e vasti della natura, acquisendo in questo modo quella ‘dimensione’ e quei caratteri propri della città contemporanea. Nei suoi spazi collettivi, che rimandano a una cultura dell’abitare che affonda le proprie radici nella più generale storia della città francese, Le Havre rappresenta sé stessa e traduce nella Place de l’Hôtel de Ville le ripide pendici della falesia, nella Porte Océane l’orizzonte lontano dell’Oceano, nel Front-de-mer Sud l’altra riva della foce della Senna, e fa di questi i veri ‘monumenti’ della città

No full textIl presente articolo indaga il termine centralità urbana, una delle parole chiave della ricerca Spinner 2013 Progettare il costruito: nuovi modelli a qualità integrata per la città compatta, in corso dal 2012. L’architettura si è spesso confrontata col significato di centralità urbanainterpretandolo a seconda delle dinamiche evolutive che, via via, hanno guidato le scelte progettuali di sviluppo urbano. Il termine centralità è da intendersi nell'accezione di tipologia architettonica ma in primisnell'accezione simbolica di effetto comunitario, aggregativo e, in conclusione, di luogo. Essa si concretizza in un sistema insediativo complesso che conforma uno spazio di tipo centrifugo e allo stesso tempo centripeto, introverso e estroverso, capace di custodire in se la memoria del contesto di appartenenza da cui ha attinto i propri caratteri formali e, al contempo, costruire una memoria identitaria della comunità che lo abita e che lo abiterà

No full textThe Mondadori Building in Segrate, together with the Head Office of the Communist Party is certainly the most well known buildings built by Niemeyer in Europe.The project, thanks to an enlightened clients who believed in the active role of architecture, can be considered an evolution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Brasilia. The project for Mondadori is crucial in the evolution of the work of Niemeyer and represents, even today, a paradigmatic example of a possible way to deal with the theme of the relationship between building, open space and landscaping.La Mondadori di Segrate, insieme alla Sede del Partito Comunista di Parigi, rappresenta indubbiamente il più noto degli edifici realizzati da Niemeyer in Europa.Il progetto, nato grazie ad una committenza illuminata che credeva nel ruolo attivo dell'architettura, può essere considerato un'evoluzione del Ministero degli Affari esteri di Brasilia, cruciale all'interno dell'evoluzione dell'opera di Niemeyer e costituisce, ancora oggi, un esempio paradigmatico, di una modalità possibile di affrontare il rapporto tra edificio, spazi aperti e paesaggio

Nine aspirant critics were invited to choose as many works of architecture (or urban spaces) to try to show their good and bad points.L’autore si interroga sull’esistenza della critica, sul suo stato di salute e sui modi per esercitarla. No full textWe recognize the workshop as a dynamic model of learning, which is continuously changing and experimenting, and is able to be constantly redesigned to achieve new and stimulating situations for teaching the practice of architecture. In fact it is a particularly suitable model for seeking a global and coherent approach to the architectural project, while avoiding separating the topics into isolated fragments, throughout the project’s process. Bringing work teams together in the same space and within a reduced time limit requires intensive thought and a rhythm of production which helps improve the relation between the theoretical references of the subject’s production and the aspects related to producing work and communication elements for the architectural project.Si riconosce che il workshop costituisce un modello dinamico di apprendimento, in continua evoluzione e sperimentazione, e in grado di essere costantemente riformulato per giungere a nuove e stimolanti situazioni per insegnare la pratica dell'architettura. Si tratta infatti di un modello particolarmente adatto alla ricerca di un approccio globale e coerente al progetto architettonico, dato che evita di separare gli argomenti in frammenti isolati nel processo progettuale. Riunire i gruppi di lavoro nello stesso spazio e nel tempo limitato a disposizione richiede un pensiero intenso e un ritmo di produzione che aiuta a migliorare il rapporto tra i riferimenti teorici riportabili al soggetto trattato e gli aspetti relativi all'elaborazione e alla comunicazione del progetto architettonico

No full textThe author reflects on the teaching of Architectural Design as a core subject in the Schools of Architecture and the relevance of the workshop as a teaching model. It has become common practice for more specialized training associated with summer courses and complementary learning programs for the training of future architects. However, in the organization of the teaching of Architectural Design, the workshop prevails as the workspace where the student increases their knowledge, learns how to solve problems, draws conclusions, exercises their skills, finds his or her particular method of designing and, finally, identifies the experience with creative freedom.L’autore riflette sull’insegnamento del Progetto Architettonico come materia principale nelle Scuole di Architettura e l’importanza del laboratorio come modello di insegnamento. Questo si è diventato pratica abituale per una formazione maggiormente qualificata, associata a corsi estivi e a programmi complementari di apprendimento, per la preparazione dei futuri architetti. Tuttavia, nell’organizzazione dei corsi di Progettazione, il laboratorio si configura prevalentemente come spazio di lavoro, in cui l’alunno accresce le sue conoscenze, scopre la maniera per risolvere i problemi, trae conclusioni, esercita le sue abilità, trova un suo particolare metodo di progettare e, in conclusione, identifica l’esperienza con la libertà creativa
WAVe. Workshop estivi all'Università IUAV Venezia
No full textThis article outlines the experience of the summer workshops at the IUAV and investigates the reasons that underlie the success of this educational initiative founded in 2002. Such event, which concludes the school year, marks a time of great openness for aspiring young architects: 30 workshops with about 1,800 students from the three-year Architecture Course. The workshops are directed by architects from all over the world and from different generations and backgrounds. The idea is still that of making the attractiveness of Venice interact with the specificity of a school of Architecture like the IUAV in a form of educational experiment.L'articolo illustra l'esperienza degli workshop estivi allo IUAV ed indaga le ragioni che stanno alla base del successo di questa iniziativa didattica nata nel 2002. L’evento, che conclude l’anno scolastico, segna un momento di grande apertura per giovani aspiranti architetti: si tratta di 30 atelier che prevedono la partecipazione di circa 1800 studenti del triennio di Architettura. A dirigere gli atelier sono chiamati architetti provenienti da tutto il mondo e appartenenti a generazioni e formazioni molto diverse tra loro. L’idea è quella di far interagire l’attrattività di Venezia con la specificità di una scuola come lo IUAV per dare corso ad un esperimento didattico che costituisca un fattore di moltiplicazione dell’esperienza formativa degli studenti

The building is of great interest, providing unprecedented interpretations respect to the whole work of the Brazilian master.La FATA di Pianezza, pur non essendo tra gli edifici più noti di Niemeyer, rappresenta un'indubbio esempio di ideale rapporto tra cimento strutturale e esito spaziale. L'edificio, di grande interesse, fornisce chiavi di lettura inedite rispetto all'intera opera del maestro brasiliano
