No full textOn 23 April, the date of the birth and death of William Shakespeare, the openable roof of the new Elizabethan Theatre in Gdańsk was inaugurated, with an official ceremony for the latter to come in September.The event became an opportunity to celebrate both the plastic powers of the symbol, which, scattered through the metaphysics of places (and memory), guide the forces to 'form' as well as the values and ideals that have sustained the tormented historical process of this Baltic city and the Polish nation as a whole.Il 23 aprile, giorno della nascita e della morte di William Shakespeare, è stato inaugurato il tetto apribile del nuovo Teatro Elisabettiano, che sarà inaugurato il prossimo settembre a Danzica.L'evento diventa l'occasione per celebrare allo stesso tempo le potenze plastiche del simbolo, che, disseminate nella metafisica dei luoghi (e della memoria), guidano le forze alla 'forma' e i valori e gli ideali che hanno sostenuto il tormentato processo storico della città baltica e della nazione polacca

No full textThis article outlines the experience of the Erasmus Intensive Programme entitled "Fortified Places" which took place in three editions, between April 2012 and February 2014, in Venice, Paris and Seville, and investigates the project’s teaching method adopted in such initiative. The discussions surrounding the projects took place at several different intersecting levels: student-to-student, student-to-teacher, teacher-to-teacher; and this greatly enhanced the exchange of information and teaching methods. Given this modality, the transfer of knowledge, skills and different points of view could occur both vertically (teacher - student) as well as horizontally (student-student, teacher-teacher).L'articolo illustra l'esperienza dell'Erasmus Intensive Programme intitolato “Fortified Places” svoltosi in tre edizioni, tra l'aprile del 2012 e il febbraio 2014, a Venezia, Parigi e Siviglia, e indaga il metodo di insegnamento del progetto adottato nell'iniziativa. La discussione sui progetti si è svolta a più livelli incrociati tra loro: studenti-studenti, studenti-docenti, docenti-docenti e questo ha arricchito notevolmente lo scambio di informazioni e metodi didattici intorno al progetto. Svolgendosi in tale modalità, il trasferimento del sapere, dei punti di vista e delle conoscenze è avvenuto sia sull’asse verticale (docente-allievo), sia sull’asse orizzontale (studente-studente, docente-docente)

No full textFor Niemeyer architecture is a whole with the city and the territory. The ways through which he separates the building from the open space and from the city are a crucial issue to analyse this relationship. We find ourselves in front of a research that superates by far the simple evolution of Le Corbusier and the simple sculptural ability that was attributed to it: the one by Niemeyer is a wide breath composition, with an ongoing evolution and tension with the city and the landscape.Per Niemeyer l'architettura è un tutt'uno con la città e il territorio. Tema cruciale per analizzare questa relazione sono le modalità attraverso le quali separa l'edificio dallo spazio aperto e dalla città. Ci troviamo di fronte ad una ricerca che supera di molto la semplice evoluzione di Le Corbusier e la semplice capacità scultorea che gli è stata attribuita: quella di Niemeyer è una composizione di grande respiro, in continua evoluzione e tensione con la città e con il paesaggio

Through its own means - walls, roofs, boundaries - the architectural image has the capacity to evoke and invoke the profound sense of unexpected situations, to "refresh" our vision of things against the danger of automation.What emerges is a scenario in which, in the creative circle involving maker and spectator, the reality of architecture contributes to its part in the project of "manufacturing the world"Un disegno di John Hejduk è l'occasione per riflettere sul rapporto tra ideazione, rappresentazione e realizzazione dell'opera di architettura, seguendo i ragionamenti del maestro americano.Attraverso i mezzi che le sono propri, walls, roofs, boundaries, l'immagine architettonica ha la capacità di evocare e richiamare il senso profondo di situazioni inattese, “rinfrescare” la nostra visione delle cose contro il pericolo dell'automatizzazione.Ne esce un quadro in cui, nel circolo creativo che coinvolge artefice e fruitore, la realtà dell'architettura contribuisce per la sua parte al progetto di “fabbricazione del mondo”.

No full textThe workshop experience becomes an occasion to address the theme of the usefulness of what seems useless: What is obtained in dealing with the design issues of building a bird house, a kite or a game? An investigation is set forth regarding the techniques of a project-design and its representation, with the objective of enhancing one’s knowledge about the essential aspects of the architect’s work: how to begin, how is the process of design developed, how and what information is to be obtained, the issue of scale, the role of structure, materials, the natural elements, and the environmental components that are specific to a place. These exercises become the place for a collection of materials that can make up an un-writable encyclopedia of inspired knowledge, imagination, and even the satisfactory decisions in the true story they tell.L’esperienza dei workshop diventa occasione per frequentare l’argomento dell’utilità dell’apparentemente inutile: Cosa si ottiene affrontando i problemi del progetto di una casa per un uccello, un aquilone o un gioco? Si avvia un’indagine sulle tecniche del progetto e sulla sua rappresentazione, con l'obiettivo di approfondire gli aspetti essenziali del lavoro dell'architetto: come si inizia, come avviene il processo di ideazione, il modo di documentarsi, il tema della scala, il ruolo della struttura, i materiali, gli elementi naturali e le componenti ambientali specifiche di un luogo. Questi esercizi sono il luogo della collezione dei materiali per una enciclopedia non scrivibile dell'ispirazione, dell'immaginazione o addirittura delle decisioni felicidelle quali parlano

A conceive text below travels on the same way, trying to explain his works through some impressions.Create astonishment, something closed to the colonial Portuguese architectural heritage, the baroque churches style. Although using different languages, Niemeyer could have been naturally inspired by the brazilian past architectural expressions.Fare architettura per parlare alla gente, per emozionare. Niemeyer ha pensato i suoi progetti attribuendo molta importanza alla sensibilità del visitatore, cercando di renderlo un vero e proprio spettatore. Giocando in questa stessa chiave, ecco di seguito alcune delle sue opere brasiliane considerate a seconda di alcune tematiche percettive. Un insolito sguardo su architetture che ereditano caratteri della loro anima da un passato ormai fatto proprio, il barocco ecclesiastico coloniale. Un'espressione artistica che, seppur utilizzando un altro linguaggio, tendeva anch'essa intrinsecamente a suscitare meraviglia tra gli spettatori
