Comparative Analysis of Different Online GNSS Processing Services
The development of online GNSS processing services for GPS data processing has become widely used because of its user-friendliness, non-requirement of license and knowledge of GPS processing software compared to the commercial software. The study aims at carrying out a comparative analysis of different online GNSS processing services (AUSPOS, CSRS-PPP, MagicGNSS/PPP, APPS, and GAPS). Field observations were carried out on seven (7) selected control points using static GNSS observation techniques and total station instruments to establish a closed traverse. The 3D coordinates of the control points were estimated using the online processing services and the coordinate differences between these services and total station coordinates were computed. The accuracy of each online processing service was determined using the root mean square error. The analysis, for each online processing services in the X, Y, and Z directions were 2.49cm, 2.33cm, and 2.41cm respectively, for AUSPOS, (3.35cm, 3.67cm and 3.19cm) for CSRS-PPP, (4.20cm, 3.60cm, and 3.43cm) for MagicGNSS/PPP, (6.91cm, 7.71cm, and 10.61cm) for APPS and (6.81cm, 7.77cm, and 9.09cm) for GAPS. It is worthy to conclude from the analysis of the result, AUSPOS has a more reliable result than other services which is most preferable and may be adopted for engineering and geodetic application
Sustainable Building Construction Practices and Occupants’ Level of Satisfaction
The construction industry consumes enormous energy and emits greenhouse gases (GHG) due to the intensity of its activities. This study assesses the level of incorporation of sustainability in the design and construction of buildings and the extent to which sustainable construction practices influence occupants’ level of satisfaction. Through a cross-sectional research design, a survey of one hundred (100) construction professionals was conducted. A structured questionnaire was developed and used as an instrument for primary data collection. A total of eighty (80) questionnaires were successfully retrieved and the data were used for the study. The data were processed and analysed with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26.0 and R programming language. Frequency tables and relative implementation index (RII) were used for the descriptive statistic while the ggpairs plot and Spearman correlation analysis were utilised to analyse the study’s hypothesis. The results show that the ease of access in and out of building construction sites and downsizing on the use of incandescent bulbs and replacing them with energy-saving bulbs are the most often implemented sustainability practices in building design and construction phases respectively. There is a significant positive correlation between sustainable practices and the satisfaction of building occupants. The study concludes that the current sustainability practices on construction projects are economically driven. The study recommends the advocacy and enlightenment of construction stakeholders on the need to sustain efforts at incorporating sustainability features in the design and construction of buildings
Developers’ Land Acquisition and Housing Development Constraints In Lagos Fringe Areas
The acquisition of parcels of land without commensurate development is often evident in and around urban settlements. Meanwhile, the need for immediate physical housing construction is critical because housing deficit is persistent. This study investigates organised real estate developers’ land acquisition activities and housing development constraints in Lagos fringe areas. Purposive sampling technique was adopted for the study. From the population of 251 REDAN members in the southwest zone of Nigeria, only 141 members (56%) on the list were found to be practising with their offices within the study areas. 31 land bureau officers were also surveyed. The study employed mean item score (MIS), standard deviation, frequency and principal component factor analysis (PCFA) to identify the most critical factors considered as constraints to new housing development. Finding shows that the major activities carried out on land are farming, land banking and safeguarding land from encroachers and land thieves. It was also evident that only about one-third of the land acquired was used for physical housing construction. The study discovered evidence of rigorous title processing and planning approval; very slow title documentation and re-acquisition of land with Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) by the government through the application of Land Use Act mechanism. Further findings revealed two major themed-principal components that revolve around institutional factors and inconsistency in government policy and regulations. The study recommends that the government should remove policies and regulations which serve as impediments to timely land documentation especially in instances of re-acquisition of land already bought by developers for the overriding public interest. This is very daunting for private developers and investments. Hence, the need for innovative land institutions to enhance the sustainable framework for land reform dynamics. This is inevitable in a growing African megacity
In the last few years, one experiences a kind of degeneration of moral values among youths in African society. Parents have practically no time to cater for the moral education of their children in the family. For them, academic achievement becomes their first priority. They do their utmost best not to miss that responsibility even though there may be failure in some other aspects of development in the life of a child. Hence, it becomes imperative to know if only academic achievement of children in the family can lead them to be responsible people in life. This article, first of all, seeks to give answer to this hypothesis, to look for the factors contributing to the sacralisation of studies in Colince Yann’s La Princesse du Diable and finally bring out factors justifying moral decadence in a given family.

Achieving the Goals of Art Learning through Sandwich (NCE) Programme: An Assessment of Art Education Programme of Four Colleges of Education in Southwest, Nigeria
This study aims at assessing the quality of NCE sandwich programme in Fine Arts, outline the shortcomings associated and suggest a probable extension for the programme. The rationale behind this study is to ensure that sandwich NCE meets the same standard their counterpart in full-time NCE are subjected to, The findings are expected to help in providing useful information on the quality, standard and usefulness of this programme. 60 subjects were drawn from 4 Colleges of Education in South West of Nigeria consisting of sandwich students, sandwich graduates of NCE and lecturers of Fine and applied arts. The instrument for data collection comprised of a questionnaire developed by the researcher. Data analysis technique employed was frequency and percentage. Results showed that there is no sufficient time for skill drills and assignments in practical courses and the duration of the programmes are not adequately commensurate w?ith the workload for the necessary acquisition of skills in art learning during each contact period. .. More so the volume of work would be justified and the necessary acquisition of skills in Art learning would be achieved.

Analysis of Vocal Elements in Afrobeat Music of Fela Anikulapo Kuti
Fela Anikulapo Kuti has been adjured one of the best musician from the African continent with the Afrobeat genre. His use of Afrobeat as an instrument of revolution has been discussed in varied forms and shades. However, the issue of compositional elements in his music has been glossed over by many scholars over the years. This paper examines the compositional elements in selected songs of Fela Anikulapo Kuti with a view to understand the creative ingenuity of the musician. Through analytical lenses, the paper reveals some of the techniques employed by the musician which are germane to the study of African music. This will further generate intellectual interest in the minds of scholars who may wish to undertake such analysis of other genres of popular music in Africa
The Constraint of a Rhetorical Invention: Kwame Nkrumah and the Organization of African Unity
Rhetorical constraints have the potential to inhibit a successful communication transaction. How they do that sometimes practically remains unclear, especially within the study of rhetoric in the African context. This paper examines Kwame Nkrumah’s rhetorical urgency as an argumentative tool for the establishment of an organization which would direct the political, economic and military directions of Africa. Employing Bitzer’s Situation (1968) and Meyer’s Composite Audience (1999) as analytical framework, the paper takes a critical look at Nkrumah’s rhetorical invention to locate the inherent constraints and how they (constraints) eclipsed the total success of Nkrumah’s invention. This study therefore has implications for the episteme of the different contexts within which rhetorical inventions are created and performed within the pan African liberation sphere
Ecological Identity in Governor Babatunde Fashola’s Speeches on the Environment
Given the paucity of linguistics-focused scholarship on environmental issues in Africa, this study examines some speeches of Governor Babatunde Fashola as purposively selected across the eight years of his tenure in Lagos State from 29 May 2007 to 29 May 2015. As a government deemed to have been one of the more ‘progressive’ since the advent of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic in 1999, the Fashola administration was believed to have rated well on the anecdotal indices of infrastructural development. The government was also credited with bringing new thinking to governance, especially in relation to the environment. As such, in an ecological analysis of discourse, this study aims to identify the extent to which the government was ecocentric by highlighting the discursive strategies adopted in the speeches for creating a positive ecological identity for both the governor and his executive cabinet. Via qualitative content analysis, augmented with quantitative queries from WordSmith Tools 7.0, the study identifies the following discursive strategies: the governor as acknowledger of anthropogenic climate change, promoter of green governmentality, being knowledgeable about the environmental crisis, problem solver, responsible blame taker on behalf of humankind, nature-minded ‘earthophile’, business-minded ‘earthophile’, guardian of posterity through visionary action, and a conservationist. Owing to the ideological clash between concern for profit and care for the environment, as evident in the data samples, the paper argues that the speeches reflect an ‘ecoparadox’ in which economic growth gets primacy over environmentalism. Consequent upon these, the paper concludes that the framing of climate change in governmental discourse needs to transcend valuing the nonhuman world only extrinsically
A Critical Stylistic Analysis of Pastor Tunde Bakare’s Political Thoughts on Leadership and Citizenship Tasks in Consolidating Nigeria’s Democracy
One aspect of Nigeria’s national life where the Pentecostal movement has impacted on the directions of national discourse in terms of political activism is how some Pentecostal pastors interrogate the essentials of nurturing Nigeria’s fledgling democracy. This article examines the use of linguistic resources to thread ideology in Pastor Tunde Bakare’s selected political teachings which explore leadership-citizenship responsiveness required for building an enduring democratic culture in Nigeria. Data for the study were collected from the pastor-activist’s “State of the Nation” blog between January 2016 and January 2017 at a critical time when Nigeria was sliding into the depths of a recession. The study applies the tools of Jeffries’ (2010) Critical Stylistics – a sub-discipline of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) – to analyse the linguistic threads which convey the ideology of the text. The study shows that the discourse producer is radical in the ideological structuring of the text to ignite the nationalistic obligations of the audience towards consolidating democratic norms and values in line with global best practices. It also shows that he creatively deploys stylistic markers which fit in with the political context-cum-rhetoric of mobilising his audience for political action.
TEACHERS’ ATTITUDES TOWARDS INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY USAGE FOR INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY
This study examined Teachers attitude towards utilization of ICT for teaching secondary schools in Ilorin Kwara State. The study is a descriptive study of the cross-sectional type. A total of 41 secondary schools were randomly selected and random sampling technique was used to select 253 teachers (179 from public and 74 from private schools, 123 males and 130 females) from a total of 2098 teachers in secondary schools in Ilorin. Researchers designed questionnaire was used to collect data for the study. Two research questions were raised and answered. Mean was used to answer research question one and independent sample t-test was used to test research question two at 0.05level of significance. The study found out that teachers have a positive attitude towards utilization of ICT for instructional delivery, gender has no significant effect on the attitude of teachers towards the use of ICT for instructional delivery but a significant effect exists based on school type. It was recommended among others that teacher’s involvement in the utilization of ICT should be increased upon
