Akoko Modern Political Elite and Decolonisation of Akokoland: A Study in Socio-cultural Freedom and Identity, 1940-1960
There is a dearth of historical studies on Akoko modern political elite, which can yield insights into the political history of Akoko people between 1940 and 1960. This paper attempts to fill the vacuum by examining how local particularism divided the Akoko modern political elites in their quest for power supremacy and domination during the British colonial period. Agitations by Akoko modern political elite arose from political neglect and cultural imperialism. The study concludes that despite ideological differences among some Akoko groups, enlightenment through acquisition of formal education and the formation of political parties through township unions grew the quest for Akoko development among the Akoko modern elite groups.
 
FIXED POINT RESULTS FOR FUZZY SET-VALUED MAPS ON METRIC SPACE
Among various developments in fuzzy mathematics, progressive efforts have been in process to examine new fuzzy versions of the classical fixed point results and their various applications. Following this trend in this paper, some new fixed point results for fuzzy set-valued maps are established in the framework of metric space. From application viewpoint, a few corresponding fixed point theorems in ordered metric spaces as well as crisp multi-valued and single-valued mappings are pointed out and discussed. A nontrivial example is constructed to support the assertions of our obtained results. Consequently, we note that the ideas presented herein complement, unify and generalize several recently announced results in the related literature of both fuzzy and classical mathematics
A Laplace Decomposition Analysis Of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid 19) Pandemic Model
The deadly corona virus pandemic remained a global threat to human existence. It becomes imperative to develop a Mathematical model to show how this virus spread. This paper provides a Mathematical model that succintly shows the process of transmission of covid 19 and provides measure to control its spreads. The Laplace decomposition method is used to obtain the approximate solutions in the form of infinite series. The obtained result from this paper avail that physical contact with infected persons happens to be the major cause of the spread. Thus, It becomes important to place the infected person in isolation and this will eventually flattened the curve of the spread of the covid 19 virus
Modeling Internal Determinants of Capital Adequacy in Insurance Companies
The growing concern for insurance soundness and occasional solvency regulations requires that factors that are likely to affect capital adequacy and cause insolvency be investigated. This paper examines the role of equity multiplier, deposit structure, liquidity and size of insurers in determining insurance capital adequacy. Secondary data were collected from a sample of 32 insurance firms while regression statistics was used to analyze the data. Result shows that deposit structure and size each has a significant positive effect while equity multiplier has a significant negative effect on capital adequacy. Liquidity is not among the internal determinants of capital adequacy of Insurers. These findings provide important insight for managers and regulators of insurance companies to understand the role and the effect that identified factors have on the volume of capital considered to be adequate for operational effectiveness, efficiency and in the attainment of adequate solvency margin for indemnification of the insur
STRATEGIC APPROACHES FOR ENHANCING INNOVATIVE INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGIES FOR TEACHING CLOTHING AND TEXTILES IN SOUTHWEST NIGERIA
The study examined strategic approaches for enhancing innovative instructional technologies for teaching clothing and textiles in southwest Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted for carrying out the study. Through a multistage sampling technique, 78 Home economics lecturers were involved as respondents for the study. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire face-validated by three experts who are Senior Lecturers in Home Economics Education. The reliability of the questionnaire was achieved using Chronbach Alpha which yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.751. Data collected were analysed using mean and t-test statistics. The result showed that the respondents agreed to 10 technologies for improving clothing and textile instructions, 13 strategic measures for improving clothing and textile skills acquisition through technology education and 11 challenges confronting the use of technology education for clothing and textile skills acquisition. The findings of the study on hypotheses tested showed no significant difference in the mean ratings of Home economic lecturers in colleges of education and universities. Based on the findings and conclusion, the study recommended among others that there should be adequate funding and provision for modern and contemporary educational technology facilities in Nigerian schools and colleges

Theatrical Intervention towards ‘Birth Preparedness and Complication Readiness’
Nigeria has a high record of mortality rate and this is partially due to complications associated with pregnancy and childbirth. Birth preparedness and complication readiness (BPCR henceforth) was developed as a set of strategic programs designed for intervention at multiple levels to help improve women’s readiness for childbirth and complications that may develop either during pregnancy or delivery. The argument for this medical initiative was founded on the belief that readiness reduces the risks of complications since the danger signs from both mother and the newborn are detected early enough. While this method has advanced considerably and proven effective in many civilized nations, Nigeria as a developing country is yet to successfully key into it. This is not borne out of dearth of data or literature that communicate the effectiveness of BPCR, but rather results from low literacy levels among rural women who often need such intervention. This study employs theatre and dance as interventionist tools to educate women within Ifako-Ijaiye local government area in Lagos State. It adopts the qualitative approach with primary data elicited via participant observation and interviews while secondary data was drawn from library and archival materials. The study shows that theatre and dance are viable means of engaging communities by leveraging their didactic functionality through integrated participatory options
Candidates’ Assessment of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board Programme in Nigeria
This study investigated the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB)’s candidates’ rating and assessment of the programme in Nigeria within the blueprint of quantitative paradigm of the descriptive survey research design. The participants consisted of 139 JUPEB candidates during the 2019/2020 session enrolled in three universities. Three research questions and one null hypothesis were raised to guide the study. Data collected through the Current JUPEB Candidates’ Questionnaire (Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.87) were coded on the SPSS version 24 in which the research questions were answered using percentage and mean and the null hypothesis was tested using an independent samples t-test at 0.05 level of significance. Results showed that the current JUPEB candidates rated and assessed the JUPEB Programme in terms of quality and access and in terms of facilities and logistics for examinations respectively as satisfactory and that they would recommend the Programme to family and friends. Also, there was a statistically significant influence of type of university on their rating, in favour of the government-owned university. Based on these findings, it is recommended that university governing councils should make substantial funding available for the JUPEB centres to increase quality of outputs from the JUPEB centre
The Impact of Advertising on Customer Patronage in the Insurance Sector
This study examined the impact of advertisement on customer patronage in the Nigerian insurance. industry. It was guided by four research questions and one hypothesis. Questionnaire was used for data collection and 400 respondents participated in the study. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentage and tables were used to present the data collected; while the hypothesis was tested using the Chi-square at 0.05 level of significance. The result of the study revealed the following as various advertising options in Nigeria: paid search advertising, social media advertising, outdoor advertising, broadcast advertising, print advertising and native advertising; arranged in the order of frequency of use. The result of this study further revealed that advertisement, to a large extent attracts new clients and aids in the reviving of dormant clients as well as influence demand in the insurance sector. Based on these findings, it was concluded that advertisement has significant impact on customer patronage in the insurance sector and it was recommended, among other things that management of insurance companies must advertise their products benefits to encourage patronage from potential customers as well as existing and dormant customers. This is because advertisement has proven to be a major means by which potential customers learn about the existence of companies and their service offerings; new and existing customers get acquainted with the company and their offerings and dormant customers get re engage to the company
STABILITY ANALYSIS OF MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF A RELAPSE TUBERCULOSIS INCORPORATING VACCINATION
A general SIQRM epidemic model with vaccination and relapse possibility is proposed for analysis in this work. The idea behind the proposed model is to check the effect of immunity obtained from vaccine or treatment, quarantine effect as well as waning effect of immunity on the transmission rate of Tuberculosis within a population that is subjected to proper education without restricted access. Some other infectious diseases in this category include measles and Ebola. Two equilibrium states of the proposed model are obtained as well as the effective reproduction number (Reff ). Stability analysis of the model at the Infection Free Equilibrium (I.F.E) state is established on the condition that Reff < 1. Numerical simulation for thegeneral SIQRM model was done using specific data for Tuberculosis disease and the result shows that proper education, vaccination and early diagnosis of an infectious individual for quarantining is an efficient way by which the spread of Tuberculosis can be reduced in the population while adequate medical attention yield better result for detected cases
