Economic Community of West African States: A Trajectory in Regional Integration
Over the past thirty years of its existence, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has attempted sub-regional integration in West Africa to promote economic cooperation and development among member states. In this light, she has expanded its vision and redefined its mandate as well as roles in addressing novel realities, especially in conflict resolution. However, there are still challenges yet to be surmounted. This article examines the fundamentals of the overall performance and challenges of regional integration in West Africa. It adopts both descriptive and analytical methods that are native to historical research enterprise. It argues that the feat achieved through ECOWAS/ECOMOG in Liberia and Sierra Leone adds credibility to the conception of regional integration as a dialectical unity of cooperation processes. The study concludes that collective self-reliance, intensification of inter-regional trade, and commitment to democracy are the best approaches to regional integration in West Africa.

Applicative Constructions in Igbò
The structure of applicative constructions has been in debate due to diverse opinions regarding the categorial status and distribution of the applicative morpheme. Previous studies have focused on the morphemic structure with scant attention paid to the distribution and interaction of the applicative morpheme with other inflectional affixes. This study examines the syntactic distribution of the Igbo applicative morpheme with a view to determining its categorial status and base position in relation to other inflectional affixes such as tense, aspect and negation. Employing the split verb phrase hypothesis of minimalist program, the study reveals that Igbo applicative morpheme is a functor that projects maximally as an Applicative Phrase, showing up after the verb in the process of interacting with other inflectional elements. The study concludes that in deriving applicative constructions in Igbo, the verb enters the derivation with unvalued tense and applicative features which get valued as the verb moves from one head to another while the affixes get merged to the verb.

L’evaluation de La Modulation a Travers La Traduction de Certains Apprenants Unilagiens
In this paper, we first of all define the concept of modulation by exploring the various categories of texts to be translated namely: literary translation, scientific and technical translation, legal translation and general translation, while using the different kinds of methods of translation. A special emphasis will be laid on modulation and all that surrounds it in the art of translation. This indirect translation approach becomes imperative because of our ambition to ensure the effective transmission of messages in a multilingual and multicultural community such as Nigeria. Series of objectives directly related to translation as well as a suggestion of a methodological framework are aligned in the adventure of giving texts to translate to the 200 level learners of French at the University of Lagos. All these versions were considered as corpus analyzed in the research. The latter part of this analysis gave rise to recommendations and a conclusion.
Continuity and Change: Decoding Bruce Onobrakpeya’s Conceptualisation of Urhobo Ancestral Worship in Two-Dimensional Forms
The thrust of the paper is to re-examination the conceptualisation of the ancestors’ statuettes in two-dimensional art by Bruce Onobrakpeya. Bruce Onobrakpeya being an Urhobo Artist has conceptualised and by extension the art work of ancestral in two dimensional forms, for general acceptance of modern Urhobo adherents. The paper critically evaluates the pre-colonial status of the ancestors and lucidly highlights the pride of place they once enjoyed. It is the contention of this paper to state that despite missionary religions have made a lot of converts among the traditional people, regard is paid to the ancestors. The work is anchored on the Semiotic theory of Eco which says that visual images explained issues as written words. The civilizing tendencies the Christianity has brought to Urhobo land particularly and the globalizing forces, have helped in no small way to pave way for continuity. The paper concludes that the living dead are still being remembered and venerated by the Urhobo through modern ways of worship. The Urhobo adherents who prefer to go to their new place of worship venerate their departed one through remembrance and thanksgiving ceremony.

TEACHERS’ AWARENESS AND PERCEPTIONS OF VIRTUAL LABORATORIES ON ACQUISITION OF BIOLOGY PRACTICAL SKILLS IN LAGOS STATE
The study investigated teachers’ level of awareness and perception of the use of virtual laboratory on the acquisition of biology practical skills. A descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The population of the study was over 1,200 biology teachers in Lagos State. A sample size of 138 Biology teachers from the six Educational Districts of Lagos State was selected through a multi-stage sampling technique. Mixed methods were employed involving the use of standardized interviews, video clips to gather qualitative data while a validated structured questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.74 titled ‘Virtual laboratory and Biology practical skills’ (VLABPS) containing 15 items was used to collect quantitative data.
Data were analyzed using frequency count and percentages. Results showed that the level of awareness of virtual laboratory among Biology teachers was generally low as biology teachers showed ignorance of the concept of virtual laboratories on the acquisition of Biology practical skills. Although, enlightenment and awareness were generated with the intervention of the video clip on virtual laboratories. The study, therefore, recommended that Biology teachers should be engaged in workshops on the use of Virtual laboratories to teach Biology practical skills while Pre-service teachers on teaching practice should be encouraged by their supervisors to use virtual laboratories for teaching Biology practical skills. Descriptive statistics of Pie and Bar charts were used to analyze the demographic variables while Inferential statistics (Chi-Square (X2)) was used to test all stated hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that motivation, commitment, and partnership, as indices of volunteerism, had a significant influence on the management of sports competitions in Nigeria.
