The Consumer Behavior Impact of Data Capture Through Artificial Intelligence
Get PDFArtificial intelligence is changing the way consumers search for information and purchase items and, thus, how people behave across generations. Due to the nature of this cutting-edge technology, organizations are investigating how much to wisely invest, but the artificial intelligence offerings are outpacing the research. Academic scholars and marketing professionals have issued timely prompts for additional studies to supplement the existing literature, which is limited. This research provides insights into privacy concerns surrounding the data collection of artificial intelligence and whether people feel exploited or served by it. Across two articles, surveys were deployed and collected to provide quantitative data that explains consumer behavior, first by considering the generation an individual belongs to and whether that alone is a determinant of feelings associated with artificial intelligence data capture interactions. Second, in a deeper dive, a Technology Readiness Index score was assessed and then compared to various scales, which once again examined privacy concerns with artificial intelligence data collection, perceived threats with online data housing, and the perceived severity of these actions. Patterns of behavior were detected through Structural Equation Modeling analysis. Findings showed that older generations do in fact feel heightened senses of exploitation with artificial intelligence data capture compared to younger generations. The data also revealed that an individual’s Technology Readiness Index score directly relates to whether they feel more exploited or served by artificial intelligence data capture
NSAIDs and Oral Drug Absorption: Ibuprofen through a Pharmacokinetic Lens
Get PDFHuman pharmacokinetics is the study of how administered medications move throughout and behave within the body. Absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion are four integral parts of this field of study and are commonly known as the ADME principles of pharmacokinetics, but other processes are studied within the field. For orally administered drugs, the absorption process lies within the small intestine and colon, two components of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract; this bodily system is associated with many variables––many of which must be considered in the study of oral drug absorption. Often administered orally, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) make up a group rich in history that includes a plethora of drugs available today. NSAIDs are typically known for their treatment of inflammation, pain, and fever, and ibuprofen is a well-known NSAID that treats all three of these afflictions. Ibuprofen is a relatively recent component of the NSAID group, but published research regarding this drug’s associated adverse reactions and pharmacokinetic behavior is plentiful. Important factors in ibuprofen’s pharmacokinetic behavior include age, biological sex, and body composition; most importantly, the impact of food consumption on oral ibuprofen absorption is an essential consideration when this drug is administered, for a common belief surrounding ibuprofen is that it must be taken with food. Overall, this literature review aimed to compile published information necessary to understand the pharmacokinetics of ibuprofen, discuss important variables in this NSAID’s pharmacokinetic behavior, and evaluate ibuprofen’s associated food effect––and apply it to patient safety and treatment efficacy
A Mixed Methods Study of How Elementary Teachers Cope Mentally, Physically, and Spiritually While Teaching in a Pandemic
Get PDFThe purpose of this mixed methods study was to examine coping strategies for teachers in elementary schools who taught during the COVID-19 pandemic. Teachers experienced mental, physical, and spiritual challenges throughout the pandemic, and this study shared how teachers coped. Through this study, 48 teachers serving in three different elementary schools in North Carolina completed ten 4-point Likert scale response items. The survey tool\u27s validity was established using the Lawshe content validation index. Interviews were conducted, in addition to a focus group session. Resilience theory, a framework for improving a teacher\u27s ability to adapt successfully when under stress or adversity, was one of the theoretical frameworks used to investigate this topic. The second theoretical framework chosen was social-emotional learning theory. This framework provides how teachers can improve their own well-being and the social, emotional, and academic development of their students. From this research, a collection of coping strategies, trainings, support, and future planning for the benefit of teachers was established
