No full textL’articolo analizza la biblioteca privata di Pier Vittorio Tondelli, aperta alla consultazione pubblica dal 2018 presso il Centro di documentazione Tondelli di Correggio (RE), nella quale è stata trovata una rivelatrice corrispondenza fra lo scrittore emiliano e Carlo Coccioli. Il lavoro evidenzia come per 27 anni (1991–2018) l’accesso ai testi del fondo sia stato limitato dal fratello, Giulio Tondelli, sulla base di convinzioni ideologiche e religiose. Nello scandagliare lo stato attuale della biblioteca, è emersa la sottrazione di testi nodali citati dallo scrittore in diversi suoi articoli, in particolare la sottrazione di videocassette VHS e libri a tematica omoerotica. Questo materiale, e financo l’assenza di questo materiale tondelliano, è stato sistematicamente omesso dal curatore, dal proprietario e anche da alcuni celebrati critici di scuola cattolica, nel tentativo di ridimensionare l’interesse di Tondelli verso la cultura omosessuale, a partire da quella pornografica ed erotica. Questo scritto interpreta la censura come un’operazione politica non scientifica, che nega la centralità del tema del corpo e dell’impegno politico di Tondelli.Il contributo intende fornire una lettura linguistico-stilistica di Rapato a zero (1986), la raccolta degli articoli inviati e dettati al telefono da Carlo Coccioli al quotidiano fiorentino La Nazione. Dopo aver presentato i tratti più peculiari dello stile coccioliano (digressività, egotismo, allocutività) e aver mostrato com’essi siano espressione di una ben definita postura e strategia enunciativa, si propongono sondaggi lessicali e sintattici
Paola Cortellesi’s Magic Spell: Domestic Violence and Fairy-Tale Subversion in C’è ancora domani (2023)
No full textPaola Cortellesi’s C’è ancora domani (2023) portrays happiness and misery within the confines of domestic life, giving prominence to the themes of gender-based violence and women’s hope for redemption. Drawing on the tropes of neorealism, the film is centred on Delia, a working-class woman who lives under the brutal oppression of a despotic husband, on the eve of the 1946 institutional referendum that inaugurated the birth of the Italian Republic. Initially a submissive Cinderella-like character, Delia toils inside and outside the domestic walls to support her family despite relentless beatings and humiliations. By combining a close reading of key scenes with an exploration of the film’s soundscape and its reception, this essay argues that C’è ancora domani can be interpreted as a subversive fairy-tale film. The director herself drew a connection between the film and fairy tales in a speech she delivered at the Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome in January 2024, which sparked a heated debate in the Italian press on the sexist nature of classic fairy tales. The film radically questions clichéd representations of female roles, repeatedly trumping audience expectations with its revolutionary edge. This subversive power, infused with an underlying longing for hope, aligns with the transformative spirit of the fairy-tale genre. Throughout the film, Cortellesi juxtaposes scenes of domestic violence with moments of ironic levity, accentuating the chasm between Delia’s grim reality and her dreams of escape. By putting the film into conversation with fairy-tale studies, this essay ultimately interprets C’è ancora domani as a work of art that boldly subverts women’s traditional roles within the domestic space

No full textBig Deal Cancellations and Influences on Librarian Decision-Making
No full textBig Deals initially emerged as cost-saving purchasing models through which academic libraries could quickly grow their collections. Over time, the soaring costs of journal bundles have strained library budgets, and librarians have worked to transition away from Big Deals. Cancellation projects are complex processes involving a large amount of time and labour. Past research has examined how librarians use quantitative and/or qualitative data to make decisions around cancellations, but few go inside the process to understand the subjective factors influencing librarians’ choices. This study investigates the decision-making practices and processes of librarians concerned with the cancellation of Big Deals through interviews conducted at four medium-sized Canadian institutions that underwent cancellation projects from 2015 to 2020. The institutions investigated in this study adopted similar practices in deciding what packages to unbundle and selecting their teams. Differences in how qualitative and quantitative data were used in forming analyses, and the communication methods to counteract opposition heavily influenced the relative success of each library. Libraries seemed most successful if they could perform nuanced and complex data analyses, involved their Liaison librarians in faculty consultations, had the strong support of administrators, and wrapped the project together with an integrated communications plan. A model describing the decision-making steps in the process of unbundling journal packages and the influences that impact each step is presented, followed by recommendations for engaging with each influencing factor, based on the findings of this study.Les grands ensembles ont d\u27abord émergé comme des modèles d\u27achat économiques grâce auxquels les bibliothèques universitaires pouvaient rapidement développer leurs collections. Au fil du temps, la flambée des coûts des ensembles de périodiques a mis à rude épreuve les budgets des bibliothèques, et les bibliothécaires se sont efforcé.e.s de s\u27éloigner des grands ensembles. Les projets d\u27annulation sont des processus complexes nécessitant beaucoup de temps et de main-d\u27œuvre. Des recherches antérieures ont étudié comment les bibliothécaires utilisent des données quantitatives et/ou qualitatives pour prendre des décisions concernant les annulations, mais peu explorent à fond le processus pour comprendre les facteurs subjectifs qui influencent les choix des bibliothécaires. Cette recherche examine les pratiques et les processus décisionnels des bibliothécaires concerné.e.s par l\u27annulation de grands ensembles au moyen d\u27entrevues menées dans quatre établissements canadiens de taille moyenne qui ont fait l\u27objet de projets d\u27annulation de 2015 à 2020. Les institutions étudiées dans cette recherche ont adopté des pratiques similaires pour décider des ensembles à déconstruire et pour sélectionner leurs équipes. Les différences dans la façon dont les données qualitatives et quantitatives ont été utilisées dans la formation des analyses et les méthodes de communication pour contrer l\u27opposition ont fortement influencé le succès relatif de chaque bibliothèque. Les bibliothèques semblaient avoir plus de succès si elles pouvaient effectuer des analyses de données nuancées et complexes, impliquer leurs bibliothécaires de liaison dans les consultations des professeur.e.s, bénéficiaient du solide soutien des administratrices.teurs et concluaient le projet avec un plan de communication intégré.
