GENDER DIFFERENCES AND LANGUAGE LEARNING STRATEGIES OF INDONESIAN STUDENTS: A CRITICAL RESEARCH REVIEW
This study explores gender differences in language learning strategies (LLS) within the Indonesian context. Drawing on various studies, it reveals mixed results regarding the preference for strategies between male and female students. Some studies, such as Budiarti (2022), report no significant gender differences, while others (e.g., Rianto, 2020; Melvina et al., 2020) suggest that female students, particularly those with higher English proficiency, use strategies more frequently. Female learners tend to prefer metacognitive strategies (e.g., planning and self-monitoring), while male students lean toward cognitive strategies (e.g., memorization) and social strategies (e.g., peer interaction). The study highlights strengths in the use of validated instruments like the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) but also identifies weaknesses such as response bias and limited consideration of contextual factors like motivation and social support. These findings indicate that gender influences strategy use, but external factors, including proficiency and motivation, also play significant roles. The research recommends adopting more comprehensive research methods and practical teaching approaches that account for gender-specific strategy preferences, thus fostering more inclusive language learning environments. This study contributes to both theoretical and practical insights in foreign language education in Indonesia
TEACHERS’ VIEW ON THE USE OF ICT IN ENGLISH PHARMACY COURSE
This study investigates teachers’ perception on the use of ICT in ESP class. This research employed a qualitative case study. The semi structured interview was used to collect the data. The data from the interview were analyzed with Thematic Analysis using Nvivo R14 software. The qualitative data analysis resulted in two primary themes supported with several subthemes. The two primary themes are teachers’ positive perception and teachers’ challenges. The teachers perceived ICT facilitates ESP teaching and it makes teaching more enjoyable. However, the challenges such as the increase of copy-paste/cheating habits, limited internet access and the difficulty of monitoring students still occur during the class. The findings of this study would give a better insight of what constitutes an environment that is conducive for learning where ICT is integrated into the classroom especially ESP class
INTEGRATION OF SCHOOL HEALTH BUSINESS TRIAS AND ADIWIYATA PROGRAM TO REALIZE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY SCHOOLS (CASE STUDIES IN SCHOOLS BANGKALA DISTRICT, JENEPONTO REGENCY)
This study uses a qualitative descriptive method to describe and interpret the Analysis of the Implementation of the School Health Triad (UKS) and Adiwiyata in five elementary schools in Bangkala District, Jeneponto Regency. The purposive sampling method was used to select schools, and data was collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation. This research focuses on the evaluation of the implementation and Adiwiyata based on the participation of students, parents, health agencies, teachers, and school staff. The results show that although efforts have been made, the implementation has not been optimal due to constraints such as lack of space facilities and lack of health education. Health services are still limited to activities from the health center without the active involvement of teachers. Meanwhile, the Adiwiyata program has not been fully integrated into the curriculum, but reforestation activities have been carried out with the participation of school residents and the local government. Data analysis uses qualitative descriptive techniques that include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn, by ensuring the validity of the data through triangulation methods. This study concludes that efforts for the implementation of UKS and Adiwiyata have been made, but it is still necessary to solve several obstacles to improve health and the environment in schools, such as the separation of the UKS room from other rooms is needed to be more effective, training and coaching for Supervisors is also important so that in the implementation of health counseling, the involvement of the health center is not always needed, in addition, The school is expected to become an Adiwiyata school, because the implementation is almost simila

LANGUAGE STYLES WITHIN TRANSLANGUAGING IN DEDDY CORBUZIER'S PODCAST WITH VINCENT VERHAAG AND EL BARACK
Nowadays, one of the prerequisites for the virality of podcasts on social media is determined by the host's expertise in guiding the show by using the right language style and language choice. Research in the field of language style and language choice still explores the dynamics of conversation without looking at the application of translanguaging. Therefore, research is needed that combines translanguaging and language style in the context of social media. This research explores the relationship between translanguaging and language style in one of the episodes of Deddy Corbuzier's podcast with guests Vincent Verhaag and El Barack. The podcast received many viewers and likes, as well as a lot of positive comments. This research refers to the theory of language style to analyze how speakers adjust their language choices in a multicultural environment to achieve various communication goals. The approach used is descriptive qualitative, transcribing and analyzing data in the form of dialogues that appear in the podcast. The research results show the presence of seven translanguaging patterns, with the Indonesian to Code-Mixing (ICM) pattern being the most dominant, reflecting the natural integration of languages in informal conversations. In addition, the dynamics of language change were also found, indicating three types of language styles as described by Martin Joos. The most dominant language style is the casual style, followed by the Consultative Style and the Intimate Style. It can be concluded that this study indicates that language speakers adjust their speech style based on the audience, the topic being discussed, and the communication goals they wish to achieve. This research will help readers gain deeper insights into multilingual communication, particularly in the realm of digital media which shows that translanguaging can be used strategically to enhance clarity, emotional expression, and audience engagement
