    Insights from EFL Classroom: Strategies for Teaching English from Experienced Teacher

    This study explores effective strategies for teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) by drawing on insights from experienced teacher. Through qualitative interviews and classroom observations, the research identifies key strategies that have been implemented by the teacher in EFL classroom. The participant of this study was an experienced teacher who have been working as an English teacher for 36 years. The participant was chosen purposively as most of students considered him as a good teacher. The findings highlight that during the teaching process, the teacher incorporate controlled technique such as warming up, setting, organizational, content explanation, reading aloud, checking, question-answer, drill, translation, dictation, copying, and review. Additionally, the teacher also applied semi-controlled technique such as brainstorming, question-answer and preparation then for free technique such as problem solving, interview and discussion in responding to diverse student needs. These insights provide valuable guidance for EFL educators seeking to improve their instructional practices and foster better language outcomes for their students

    THE USE OF CROSSWORD PUZZLE GAME MEDIA TO INCREASE STUDENT LEARNING MOTIVATION IN THE SUBJECT OF IPAS GRADE V UPTD SD NEGERI 33 PAREPARE

    This research is motivated by the low learning motivation of students in grade V at UPTD SD Negeri 33 Parepare. The objective of this research is to enhance the learning process and motivation of students using crossword puzzle game media. The approach used in this research is qualitative. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects in this research amounted to 24 students consisting of 10 male students, 14 female students, and a teacher. This research was conducted in 3 cycles. Each cycle was held 1 meeting with four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection was carried out using observation, documentation, and questionnaire techniques. The data were analyzed using data condensation techniques, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This research focuses on the learning process and student learning motivation. The results of the research in cycles I and II showed that the learning process was in the category of sufficient (C) and student learning motivation was in the category of sufficient learning motivation. Meanwhile, in cycle III, the learning process was in the good (B) category, and student learning motivation was in the high learning motivation category. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of crossword puzzle game media increases the learning process and motivation of students in the IPAS subject in grade V at UPTD SD Negeri 33 Parepare

    PENGGUNAAN MEDIA VIDEO PEMBELAJARAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR PESERTA DIDIK KELAS IV PADA MATA PELAJARAN IPA SD NEGERI 30 PAROMBEAN KABUPATEN ENREKANG

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik dengan menggunakan media video pembelajaran. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang terdiri dari dua siklus. Desain penelitian ini meliputi empat empat komponen yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas IV SDN 30 Parombean yang berjumlah 8 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yaitu dianalisis secara kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa nilai rata-rata kelas yaitu 73,1 pada siklus I dan 87,5  pada siklus II. Pada siklus I ketuntasan belajar klasikal peserta didik adalah 50% dan pada siklus II  mencapai 100%. Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa dalam pembelajaran  IPA terjadi peningkatan hasil  belajar peserta didik dengan menggunakan media video pembelajaran Adapun peningkatan nilai rata-rata peserta didik dari siklus I ke siklus II adalah 14%. Hal ini terjadi karena pada siklus II peserta didik mulai aktif dan terlibat dalam proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media video sehingga peserta didik dapat mengembangkan potensi yang dimilikinya. Proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media video menjadikan proses belajar mengajar menjadi lebih menarik perhatian peserta didik sehingga peserta didik dapat mengerti dan memahami pelajaran dengan mudah

However, the review also highlights concerns such as data privacy, algorithm bias, and the need for human interaction. Overall, AI presents promising opportunities for enhancing language education, but careful consideration of ethical implications and technological limitations is essential for its successful implementation

    An Analysis of Sumbawa Vocational High Schools English Foreign Language Teachers’ English Proficiency

    The aim of the study is to analyze the English proficiency of VHSs EFL teachers in Sumbawa. In Indonesia, English is considered a foreign language and a mandatory subject that has to be taught at schools. Especially at Vocational High School (VHS), neither current nor official records of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers’ proficiency levels exists in our national databases (Yusuf and Novita, 2020). It could be argued that many English teachers in Indonesian schools fall under the category of less-skilled professionals with the lack of adequate competences to teach the language (Renandya, Hamid, & Nurkanto, 2018). The participants of the study consisted of 30 VHSs EFL Teachers of Sumbawa. The data collected using TOEFL like test, and it was analyzed in thre steps; correcting the TOEFL score, converting it into CEFR level, and intepreting the data. The results of the study show that the English proficiency of the VHSs EFL teachers is range from A1 to B1 which the majority of the participating teachers’ language proficiency are still at the CEFR A2 level. Regarding the strong points, it shows that the participants perform better at listening comprehension compared to the other two sets of skills tested. Based on the analysis of their numbers of correct answers, SWE section seemed to be a weak point for nearly every participant

    ANALYSIS OF THE PROJECT BASED LEARNING LEARNING MODEL BY UTILIZING YOUTUBE MEDIA TO IMPROVE STUDENTS' SPEECH SKILLS AT SMP NEGERI 3 MERAUKE

    This research aims to analyze the project-based learning model (PjBL) using YouTube video media in student speech learning. The research subjects were carried out on class IX students in the odd semester of 2023. The research was carried out at SMP Negeri 3 Merauke, with a total of 37 students and the object of this research was speech skills. Data collection techniques use initial tests (pretest) and final tests (posttest), observation, and documentation. Data collection in this research was carried out by conducting tests, namely students' speeches before and after using YouTube media with reference to linguistic and non-linguistic aspects. The results of the research show that the use of YouTube media can improve speech skills and is very effective in teaching speeches for class IX students of SMP Negeri 3 Merauke with the results of comparing the average scores of students in the pretest and posttest with test statistics. t. It is known that the t-value obtained by t-test analysis is -8.627 with a standard deviation value of 7.260 and a p-value of 0.000.     This study employed a case study design with qualitative approach to identify  the process of Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) by participants successful in learning English grammar. The researcher did a pre-survey to choose participants through Google Form. The researcher  interviewed participants by in-depth interview to identify the process of Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) could make participants successful in learning English grammar. Learners are interested in learning English grammar through YouTube because YouTube provides a lot of videos to learn grammar so, YouTube videos could be an effective tool in learning grammar by implementing Self-Regulated Learning (SRL). The results of this research showed that participants have successfully learned grammar by applying Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) and following several stages such as; goal setting, planning, monitoring progress and self evaluation. The participants easily wrote spontaneously the rules of grammar related to the  learning material so, the participants got an A score in the Essay Writing course. The results of participants writing were an effective implementation in improving understanding and application of grammar rules.     STUDENTS’ EXPERIENCE WITH ENGLISH PUBLIC SPEAKING

    This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach involving three participants who are alumni of Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari, who have completed an international credit transfer (ICT) program at Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), Philippines, from August to December 2023. This research helps how to improve students' experiential skills in public speaking preparation and satisfaction. Findings show that public speaking helps to overcome fear, increase confidence, and deliver effective speeches. Effective preparation, including message formulation, material organization, presentation techniques, and audience consideration, plays an important role in reducing anxiety and improving speech quality. Ultimately, regular public speaking practice proves instrumental in fostering psychological resilience and language proficiency among students

Technologies such as educational chatbots, intelligent tutoring systems (ITS), and adaptive learning platforms create more interactive and effective learning experiences. However, the implementation of AI also faces challenges related to ethics, data privacy protection, the digital divide, potential algorithmic bias, and educators' readiness.     EFL STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CANVA AS LEARNING MEDIA

    The development of times goes alongside the improvement of technology. Appropriate learning media is needed that a teacher can apply to students in class. In this case, Canva was chosen as classroom learning media. This research aimed to know the perceptions of 11th grade student of one of the public high schools in Bekasi students concerning the usage of Canva app as a teaching and learning media in English class. This research is a Quantitative method research. Quantitative data was obtained by using a questionnaire. The research sample was 75 students (N = 75) out of 370 students. After the data is obtained, the data is calculated with statistical calculations by finding the mean, median, mode and standard deviation values through the SPSS application. After that, the data was analyzed by descriptive analysis method. It was discovered that every statement derived from the student questionnaire responses fell into the "very good" category. Canva is an useful dan easy to use as an application to be a learning media in English classroom and students felt satisfy with the canva as a learning media in English class which it is related to satisfaction with the ease and ease of use of the canva application
