    EXPLORING STUDENTS’ STRATEGIES IN LEARNING ENGLISH AT SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL

    This study explores the strategies used by senior secondary school students in learning English at SMAN 1 Tinambung, West Sulawesi, Indonesia. This study aims to: (1) Identify what strategies are used by XII grade students at SMAN 1 Tinambung (2) What strategies are preferred by XII grade students in learning English and (3) The impact of learning strategies on learning independence, self-confidence, and social interaction of students in learning English. This research is categorized into descriptive qualitative research. This research uses the data triangulation method to obtain the validity of the research results. Data collection was done through three stages: (1) observing in the classroom to observe students' actions in the learning process, (2) conducting in-depth interviews or indept intervieuw to get the topic of information under study, (3) documentation as a supporting tool in compiling this research. The results show that (1) students use Memory strategy, Cognitive strategy, Compensation strategy, Metacognitive strategy, Affective strategy, and Social strategy, (2) students prefer technology-based strategy (social media, internet, AI), entertainment media-based strategy (film, animation, music), vocabulary-focused strategy, and collaborative learning strategy, (3) learning strategies have an impact on students' independence through variations in time management and technology use, increase confidence through psychological techniques and structured exercises, and strengthen social interaction by placing language as a communication tool in authentic contexts

    EFFECTIVE STRATEGIES FOR TEACHING ENGLISH VOCABULARY IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL: A MIX-METHOD STUDY AT SMP NEGERI 1 GALESONG UTARA, TAKALAR

    This study explores the strategies used by English teachers in teaching vocabulary at SMP Negeri 1 Galesong Utara, Kabupaten Takalar. Using a mixed-method approach, this study combines qualitative and quantitative data to analyze the implementation of vocabulary teaching strategies effectiveness. Qualitative data were obtained through classroom observation, teacher and student interviews, and document analysis, while quantitative data were collected from pre-tests and post-tests conducted in class VII.1. The result of the study indicated that teachers used various methods, including Total Physical Response (TPR) and vocabulary memory games, supported by contextual learning tools such as multimedia and group collaboration. The strategies were adapted based on students' diagnostic results to accommodate diverse learning needs. Statistical analysis showed a significant increase in students' vocabulary mastery after the implementation of these strategies, indicating their effectiveness. This study contributes to the understanding of dynamic and differentiated vocabulary teaching strategies in junior high schools and offers practical implications for improving English learning outcomes in similar educational contexts

    THE USE OF TIKTOK APPLICATION IN LEARNING ENGLISH SPEAKING: STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION

    This research is aimed to find out the students’ perception of using TikTok application in learning English Speaking and identify the impacts of using TikTok application for the students. This research focused on the students’ opinions to obtain data on their perception and response towards the implementation of TikTok in learning English speaking. The research subjects have been selected purposively with 6 students regarding their experiences learning English speaking using TikTok application. This research was conducted using in-depth interview as the instrument of the research using free-guided interview questions. The researcher found that there was various thought of each student, mainly positive than negative. The positive view students perceived are they can obtain new learning materials within a short amount of time, easy to access, and the students don’t have to follow a specific creator to enhance their speaking skills. While the negative perception students concerned are age restriction, unfiltered content, random algorithm, and one-way interaction The impacts are various. It was revealed that the students are able to improve their creativity using TikTok’s contents and obtaining an amount of knowledge in a short time. It is proven that TikTok has benefits for the students’ English learning improvement. Negatively, the impacts that are concerning to the research subjects are TikTok might leads students to addiction, get easily distracted by the contents, may leads to misleading information, and other social media alternative to learn English speakin

    EFFECTIVENESS OF CULTURALLY BASED DANCE LEARNING MEDIA IN ENHANCING STUDENT MOTIVATION AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS IN SIDENRENG RAPPANG, INDONESIA

    This study aims to design and evaluate the effectiveness of culturally-based dance learning media in enhancing student motivation at UPT SMP Negeri 1 Tellu Limpoe, Sidenreng Rappang Regency. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, integrating the 4D, ADDIE, and Borg & Gall models with a focus on the Define and Design stages. The learning media was developed based on the traditional Pattennung Dance, presented in the form of an interactive video, and validated by media and content experts. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and validation instruments. The research findings indicate that the developed media effectively increased students’ enthusiasm, active participation, and understanding of dance learning material. Students responded positively during the learning process, while teachers acknowledged that the media effectively delivered content in an engaging and contextual manner. In conclusion, this culturally-based dance learning media is feasible for use and further development as an innovative and local wisdom-based learning alternative

    THE USE OF ENGLISH SUBTITLES ON NETFLIX FOR LEARNING ENGLISH: PERCEPTIONS OF ENGLISH EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM STUDENTS AT SRIWIJAYA UNIVERSITY

    This study investigates students’ perceptions of using English subtitles on Netflix as a language learning strategy. The research focuses on how subtitles contribute to the development of English skills, the challenges encountered, and students’ suggestions for effective integration in learning. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining descriptive quantitative data from close-ended questionnaires with qualitative insights from open-ended responses. The participants comprised 41 sixth-semester students from the English Education Study Program at Sriwijaya University, selected through purposive sampling based on their active use of English subtitles on Netflix. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively to identify patterns in perceptions, while qualitative responses were thematically analyzed. The findings indicate that students perceive significant benefits from using English subtitles, particularly in vocabulary enrichment, listening comprehension, pronunciation, grammar awareness, and exposure to authentic language use. However, challenges such as unfamiliar vocabulary, rapid subtitle speed, divided attention, variation in language styles, and occasional technical issues were also identified. Students’ motivations for using subtitles ranged from intentional language learning to casual entertainment, with many adopting a balanced approach that combines both purposes. Suggestions for maximizing the learning potential of subtitles included selecting appropriate content, integrating short clips into classroom activities, and using subtitles as a fun and engaging learning tool. The study concludes that English subtitles on Netflix serve as both an effective and enjoyable medium for language learning. Their integration into personal and classroom practices can enhance learners’ engagement, autonomy, and exposure to authentic English, thereby supporting long-term language acquisition

This transformation is an effort to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of school administrative services through the utilization of digital technology. The process of transformation in the management of MA Nurul Jadid is carried out through three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The planning stage includes resource preparation, strategy development, and goal setting; the implementation stage focuses on the application of digital systems in administrative activities; while the evaluation stage is conducted to assess the program's success and identify the challenges faced for future improvements. The approach used in this research is case study, which is part of qualitative research methods. This approach aims to explore a specific case in depth by collecting information from various sources, resulting in descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people as well as observed behavior

    IMPLEMENTATION OF COOPERATIVE LEARNING MODELS AND THEIR IMPACT ON SOCIAL STUDIES LEARNING IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

    This study presents a literature review on the implementation of cooperative learning models in Social Studies instruction at elementary schools. The research focuses on identifying the impact of various cooperative learning models, including Jigsaw, STAD, TGT, NHT, Make A Match, and Picture and Picture, on students’ academic and social outcomes. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, articles were selected based on inclusion criteria emphasizing the use of cooperative learning to improve cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects of student learning. The review reveals that cooperative learning consistently enhances students’ understanding of concepts, critical thinking skills, learning motivation, active participation, and collaboration abilities. The effectiveness of these models is further strengthened when supported by interactive media, such as PowerPoint or visual-based strategies. Findings indicate that cooperative learning not only improves academic achievement but also fosters active, collaborative, and socially competent learners. These results demonstrate that cooperative learning aligns with the objectives of twenty-first-century education by promoting both cognitive and social development in elementary students, offering practical implications for designing more engaging and meaningful Social Studies learning experiences

    Integrasi Nilai Karakter Dalam Pendidikan Dasar Melalui Warisan Kata : Kato Nan Ampek

    Character education based on local wisdom is a strategic approach in building the integrity of students in the midst of globalization challenges.  One of the Minangkabau cultural heritages that is rich in character values is Kato Nan Ampek, which is a communication system that includes: Kato Mandata, Kato Manurun, Kato Mandaki, Kato Malereang. This research is a Systematic Literature Review using the PRISMA method. The database used is Google Scholar. The results showed that 38 articles were selected in 2025. Articles that meet the inclusion criteria are 5 articles. Analysis of the article shows that Kato Nan Ampek is very relevant to be integrated in learning in elementary schools in instilling character values. In addition, the study of Kato Nan Ampek has philosophical depth and high pedagogical potential as a cultural instrument in character education.Pendidikan karakter berbasis kearifan lokal merupakan pendekatan yang strategis dalam membangun integritas peserta didik di tengah tantangan globalisasi. Salah satu warisan budaya Minangkabau yang kaya akan nilai-nilai karakter adalah Kato Nan Ampek, yaitu sistem komunikasi yang meliputi: Kato Mandata, Kato Manurun, Kato Mandaki, Kato Malereang. Penelitian ini merupakan Systematic Literature Review dengan menggunakan metode PRISMA. Basis data yang digunakan adalah Google Scholar.     ANALYSIS OF ENGLISH DESCRIPTIVE TEXTS IN A BATIK MUSEUM IN INDONESIA: LANGUAGE ACCURACY AND CULTURAL REPRESENTATION

    This study aims to analyze the linguistic accuracy and cultural representation in English descriptive texts in a Batik museum in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative method, data were collected through documentation, and interviews with museum staff. The findings reveal recurring grammatical issues, such as article omission, word misordering, and awkward phrasing, which affect clarity and professionalism. Culturally, many texts lack depth, providing only names and origins of batik without explaining symbolic or historical context. Some translations are overly literal and fail to capture natural English expression, limiting international visitors’ understanding. The study highlights the need for improved linguistic quality and cultural depth in museum texts. It recommends strategies like transcreation and collaboration with language experts to produce informative, accurate, and culturally sensitive content for a global audience

    CONTRIBUTION OF ORGANIZATIONAL CLIMATE AND MOTIVATION TO TEACHER SATISFACTION AND PERFORMANCE

    This study aims to analyze the direct influence of organizational climate, work motivation, and job satisfaction on the performance of teachers at SD Negeri Gugus 1 Suka Damai, Lembah Seulawah District, and to build a causal relationship model between these variables. The approach used is quantitative with a causal design. Data collection used a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, while the analysis was carried out using path analysis techniques. The results of the study showed that organizational climate had a significant effect on teacher job satisfaction (r = 0.352; 12.3%), as well as work motivation (r = 0.298; 8%). Organizational climate also had a direct effect on teacher performance (r = 0.621; 38.5%), followed by the influence of work motivation (r = 0.328; 10.7%) and job satisfaction (r = 0.710; 50.4%). The relationship model between exogenous and endogenous variables that was built was proven to be empirically valid. These findings indicate that improving organizational climate, work motivation, and job satisfaction can effectively encourage improved teacher performance. Therefore, strengthening these three aspects is highly recommended in efforts to improve the quality of education in elementary schools
