SELF-REGULATED EFL SPEAKERS THROUGH METACOGNITIVE INSTRUCTION
This qualitative study investigates the role of metacognitive instruction in developing self-regulated English as a Foreign Language (EFL) speaking skills among undergraduate students. Speaking is often perceived as one of the most challenging language skills due to its cognitive complexity and affective demands. Drawing on theories of metacognition and self-regulated learning, this study explores how metacognitive instruction is implemented in EFL speaking classrooms, how it fosters students’ self-awareness, and how it contributes to the development of self-regulation in speaking. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and analysis of instructional materials at State University of Makassar. The data were analyzed thematically using systematic coding and categorization procedures. The findings reveal that metacognitive instruction was implemented through structured pre-speaking, while-speaking, and post-speaking stages that explicitly emphasized planning, monitoring, and evaluation. The instruction enhanced students’ linguistic and affective self-awareness and supported the gradual development of self-regulated speaking behaviors, including independent monitoring, self-correction, and motivational regulation. The study highlights the pedagogical value of integrating metacognitive instruction into EFL speaking classrooms to promote learner autonomy, confidence, and sustainable speaking developmen

Quiet places provide the focus for retaining vocabulary when listening to English songs. Overall, English songs are an effective medium for mastering vocabulary based on their experience.
LISTENING BETWEEN WORDS: A QUALITATATIVE STUDY OF STUDENTS ENGLISH LISTENING SKILLS (CASE STUDY OF ENGLISH DEPARTMENT STUDENTS OF KLABAT UNIVERSITY, AIRMADIDI MANADO)
The purpose of this study is to describe in depth the experiences of students in developing listening skills, identify factors that support and hinder the learning process, and map the strategies used by students in facing the challenges of listening to English. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design to examine the English listening skills of Klabat University students through in-depth interviews, observations of the listening learning process, and documentation as supporting data. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and iterative drawing of conclusions. The credibility of the findings was maintained through triangulation of sources and techniques, member checking, and extended researcher participation in the field. The results showed that students' listening skills were influenced by internal factors such as limited vocabulary, anxiety, and difficulty understanding the speech rate of native speakers. External factors such as the quality of audio equipment, classroom conditions, and limited use of the language laboratory also determined successful comprehension. Learning became more effective when lecturers provided gradual strategy guidance and facilitated collaborative activities through discussions after the audio playback. However, the application of listening strategies by students was still inconsistent and tended to weaken in exam situations.

IMPLEMENTATION OF LEARNING BY GAMES METHOD TO IMPROVE SELF-HELP SKILLS IN WASHING STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
Students with intellectual disabilities have intellectual limitations that affect their ability to understand concepts, including self-cultivation skills such as purification (thaharah). Thaharah is an important part student of religious education that needs to be taught to support students' independence in everyday life. However, conventional learning is often less effective in delivering fiqh material to students with intellectual disabilities because of its abstract and difficult to understand nature. Therefore, appropriate, fun, and innovative learning methods are needed. The Learning by Games method was chosen as an approach that can increase student engagement, help them understand the material more concretely, and create a pleasant learning atmosphere. INVESTIGATION OF TEACHERS’ BELIEFS ON TEACHING ENGLISH AT STATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
This study aims to determine teachers' beliefs about teaching English at State Elementary Schools and the factors that shape teachers' beliefs about teaching English in State Elementary Schools. The type of research used in this study is qualitative descriptive research with the research subjects of English teachers in five State Elementary Schools in Polewali Mandar who teach English. The instruments used in this study were observations checklist, interviews, and documentation. The findings of the study indicate that teachers' beliefs about teaching English at State Elementary Schools that teach English in Polewali Mandar are predominantly using Body Movement Techniques to help these Elementary School children understand English vocabulary or commonly called the TPR (Total Physical Response) method. Teachers also have the belief that to teach English to Elementary School children is to use the PPP (Presentation, Practice, and Production) method, the next belief is that teachers carry out learning using the CLT (Communicative Language Teaching) method. The results of the study also show that there are two factors that shape teachers' beliefs about teaching English in five State Elementary Schools that teach English in Polewali Mandar. Both factors are in accordance with the theory of teacher cognition postulated by Borg (2006), two factors that are in accordance with this theory are the Schooling factor and the classroom factor. Researchers did not find any other factors that shape the teacher's beliefs. The beliefs of these teachers are easily adjusted to the classroom context for the current elementary school level and there are no limitations to applying these beliefs to their classroom teaching practices, or there is no difference between teaching practices and the teacher's belief
THE EFFECT OF DIGITAL READING PLATFORMS ON EFL STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION: A QUASI-EXPERIMENTAL STUDY
This research aimed to investigate the effect of the ReadWorks platform as a digital reading tool on the reading comprehension skills of eleventh-grade students at SMKS YPPP Wonomulyo during the 2024/2025 academic year. The study adopted a quantitative approach utilizing a quasi-experimental design to assess the effectiveness of the intervention. The population in this study comprised 150 second-grade students majoring in Computer and Network Technology, distributed across five different classes. Using a cluster random sampling technique, two classes were selected as the research sample, resulting in a total of 64 students. These students were then equally divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group, with 32 students in each. To collect data, a reading comprehension test—administered in the form of both pre-tests and post-tests—was used alongside a perception questionnaire to gain insight into students’ attitudes toward the platform. All quantitative data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 29. The pre-test scores showed relatively equal levels of reading comprehension between the experimental group (mean = 57.03) and the control group (mean = 56.25), suggesting comparable starting points. However, after the implementation of the ReadWorks platform in the experimental group, there was a marked improvement in their post-test scores (mean = 75.94), while the control group, which did not use the platform, showed a more modest increase (mean = 70.31). The results of the independent samples t-test revealed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.008, which is below the 0.05 threshold, indicating a statistically significant difference in post-test performance between the two groups. In conclusion, the ReadWorks platform can be considered a valuable and effective digital resource for improving reading comprehension outcomes and fostering more engaging learning experiences among EFL students at the secondary education leve
