This study investigates the ways of English teachers performing verbal and nonverbal immediacy behaviors to boost the students’ learning motivation in EFL classroom context. Using a descriptive qualitative design, data were collected through nonparticipant classroom observations of two English teachers at SMAN 22 Makassar. An observation checklist and field notes were used to identify patterns of verbal and nonverbal immediacy based on established immediacy frameworks. The findings show that teachers actively used various verbal behaviors, namely inviting students to speak, providing positive feedback, addressing students by name, using humor, showing concern, employing inclusive pronouns, and engaging in self-disclosure. Nonverbal behaviors such as physical proximity, supportive gestures, eye contact, facial expressions, teacher movement, and vocal variety were also consistently demonstrated. These behaviors were strategically applied to build rapport, sustain attention, and create a supportive classroom atmosphere. Overall, the study highlights that verbal and nonverbal immediacy play a crucial role in fostering students’ motivation in the Indonesian EFL context and underscores the importance of teachers being intentional and culturally sensitive in applying immediacy strategies

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in improving the presentation skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Mandrehe Barat. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method involving one English teacher and thirty-six seventh-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that the PBL model was implemented through five main stages: problem orientation, organizing students for problem analysis, guiding individual or group investigations, developing and presenting results, and reflecting on and evaluating the problem-solving process. Throughout the learning process, students actively participated in group discussions, identified real-world problems, and presented their ideas using descriptive text as the learning material. The results indicate that PBL effectively enhanced students’ presentation skills, as measured by seven key indicators: confidence, presentation structure, language use, intonation and articulation, audience interaction, use of visual aids, and time management. Improvements were evident in students’ confidence in public speaking, the clarity and structure of their material and presentation delivery, and their ability to manage presentation time efficiently. However, several obstacles were also identified, such as the teacher not fully implementing PBL procedures due to an incomplete teaching module. This study concludes that Problem Based Learning is a beneficial instructional model for developing students’ presentation skills

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are a crucial pillar of the Indonesian economy, yet they often face fundamental obstacles in financial management, particularly in systematic financial recording. This study aims to develop a Simple Visual Accounting Education Module to increase financial recording awareness among SMEs in the God Bless Park and Moraya Fort historical tourism area in Tondano . This research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), limited to the development stage. The module was designed based on User-Centered Design principles and the Dual Coding Theory, integrating visual elements such as illustrations, icons, and infographics to simplify abstract accounting concepts. Development involved 20 SME actors, from initial needs identification to final product testing. The results showed that the module was highly feasible and effective, with 71.4% of users rating it "Very Good" and 28.6% "Good" in the final trial. The visual approach significantly enhanced understanding, motivation, and confidence among SME actors in managing their business finances. Post-intervention, there was a notable behavioral shift from informal recording practices to systematic daily cash flow recording and simple profit-loss reporting. This study concludes that the visual accounting module is a practical, effective, and well-accepted educational medium. It serves not only as a learning tool but also as an instrument of local economic empowerment, bridging the financial literacy gap for SMEs with limited educational backgrounds. CONTEXTUALIZING SANRO AUTHORITY THROUGH DEICTIC EXPRESSIONS IN BUGIS HEALING PRACTICES

This study explains how a Bugis sanro (traditional healer) constructs power through ritual speech in healing practices in Wajo, South Sulawesi. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, the researcher gathered data through direct observation, interviews, and audio-video recordings of the healing rituals. The analysis shows that the sanro’s authority is mainly built through two linguistic processes: contextualization and entextualization. First, contextualization is characterized by it- cleft construction and person deictic (first person, second person, third person, and first (inclusive)). Second, entextualization occurs when the sanro brings in Qur’anic verses, ancestral blessings, traditional Bugis mantras, and inherited ritual formulas. This entextualization occurs through the process of decontextualization and recontextualization. These texts, taken from older traditions and sacred sources, carry strong cultural and religious legitimacy. When the sanro inserts these texts into the healing moment, they strengthen her credibility and reinforce the belief that her words hold spiritual force. Together, these two processes show how ritual speech enables the sanro to gain trust, maintain authority, and perform effective healing

This study investigates junior high school students' perceptions of Wordwall game media and its effectiveness in enhancing English reading comprehension at a junior high school Jakarta. The study highlights the urgency of improving reading skills among Indonesian learners, noting that traditional teacher-centered methods often fail to engage students effectively. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, a questionnaire was administered to 30 seventh-grade students to assess their perceptions and learning outcomes related to Wordwall. Results analyzed through PLS-SEM in SmartPLS 4 show a strong and statistically significant relationship between students’ positive perceptions and their effectiveness in reading comprehension. A path coefficient of 0.916 and R² of 0.839 suggest that perception substantially predicts learning effectiveness. The study also confirms that Wordwall's interactive and gamified features promote motivation, focus, and enjoyment in learning. These findings support integrating digital game-based tools into English language instruction to foster student-centered and engaging learning environments. The study contributes to the broader field of educational technology by offering evidence-based insights into how gamification can enhance academic outcomes in EFL contexts
