EDUCATION COOPERATION POLICY DEVELOPMENT FRENCH LANGUAGE COUNTRIES INDONESIA AND ALGERIA THE ROLE OF QUALITY EDUCATION AND ECONOMY PROGRAM SDGS

    Get PDF
The cooperation aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and contributes to broader economic development objectives by strengthening human capital, promoting innovation, and supporting South–South collaboration. French language education serves as both a cultural bridge and a practical tool for accessing global academic networks, particularly in scientific and technical disciplines. The paper argues that integrating language policy with SDG-aligned education strategies can accelerate institutional capacity building and economic resilience in both countries. Ultimately, this trilateral framework—anchored in quality education, linguistic diplomacy, and shared development goals—offers a replicable model for international cooperation in the Global South

    Get PDF
This study investigated the effects of selected financial hedging strategies on the market value of quoted deposit money banks in Nigeria. Adopting an ex-post facto research design, the study utilized panel data of 13 listed deposit money banks for the period between 2015 and 2024. Data were gathered from published financial statements and were examined by means of Panel Estimated Generalized Least Squares with cross-section random effects. The Hausman test confirmed the use of the random effects model (Chi-Sq. = 0.582; p = 0.997). The regression model revealed that futures contract had a positive and significant effect on market value (coefficient = 0.765; p = 0.000). Interest rate swap also had a positive and significant impact on it (coefficient = 6656.659; p = 0.000). Index futures showed an insignificant relationship with market value (coefficient = 1517.571; p = 0.813). The overall model was significant (F-statistic = 11.309; p = 0.000) and explained 32% of the variation in market value (Adjusted R² = 0.318). The study concluded that derivative financial instruments, namely futures and interest rate swaps, when employed strategically and revealed transparently, had a positive impact on market valuation. It recommended increased use of these instruments and improved disclosure mechanisms according to international financial reporting standards to facilitate increased investor confidence and market trust

A LITERATURE REVIEW OF THE FACTORS LEADING TO SUCCESS AND FAILURE OF YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN SOUTH AFRICA

    Get PDF
This paper focuses on both ‘success’ and ‘challenges’ that youth face when starting their own businesses, which resulted in entrepreneurial opportunities for youth. A literature review was conducted to identify the factors that lead to youth entrepreneurship success/failure. The final sample for the review consists of 62 articles that were found to be relevant to the study. Social cognitive theory was used to underpin the study. The findings identified success factors to include mentorship, skill development, and access to resources. However, systemic barriers such as limited funding, bureaucratic hurdles, and restricted market access impeded entrepreneurial growth. Rural youths were particularly disadvantaged due to geographic and infrastructural constraints. Moreover, mentorship and training programmes play a vital role in enhancing self-efficacy among aspiring entrepreneurs. These interventions often incorporate experiential learning and practical skill-building to empower individuals. Building on these findings, a multidimensional approach is required to sustain entrepreneurial interventions. Overall, the findings underscore the importance of tailoring entrepreneurship capacity development interventions to address the diverse needs and challenges of youths. Hence, it is essential to go beyond training to provide sustained support, including mentorship, funding access, and market linkages

THE SMELL OF BREAD: ITS EFFECTS ON PSYCHOLOGY, EMOTIONS AND MEMORIES

    Get PDF
The primary objective of this qualitative study is to examine the emotional, psychological, and social effects of bread odor on individuals. The effects of bread odor on emotional reactions and emotional perceptions carry profound meanings not only in personal experiences but also in cultural contexts. This makes the examination of bread odor important for both gastronomy and cultural studies. A semi-structured interview technique was used as the data collection tool in the study. The research population consisted of individuals of different ages, genders, and socio-cultural backgrounds residing in Sakarya, while the sample consisted of 21 participants selected through snowball sampling. A total of 15 questions were asked to the participants, organized around three themes: emotional effects, memory, and psychological and social effects. The findings indicate that the smell of bread frequently evokes feelings of family warmth, longing for the past, compassion, and trust, and bread is defined as a sacred and special food. The smell is associated with memories such as mothers and grandmothers, village life, student housing, and family tables. From a psychological perspective, the scent of bread has been found to relax individuals, provide emotional peace and security, and strengthen social bonds. This demonstrates that scent is a significant trigger for individual memory

    OVERVIEW ABOUT URBANIZATION IN ALBANIA

    Get PDF
Urbanization in Albania has significantly accelerated over the past three decades, driven by economic transformations, rural-to-urban migration, and changing societal dynamics. The transition from a centrally planned economy to a market-oriented system has catalyzed unprecedented urban growth, with cities like Tirana and Durrës experiencing rapid population increases. The economic landscape has evolved significantly, with urban areas contributing 11 times more to national production than rural areas. However, this rapid pace of urbanization has brought about substantial challenges, including housing shortages, inadequate infrastructure, environmental degradation, and increased traffic congestion. The Albanian government is actively working to implement strategies aimed at managing urbanization effectively, but the effectiveness of these measures depends on addressing underlying issues such as informal settlements and inadequate public services. This paper explores the historical context, demographic and economic dynamics driving urban growth, government responses and strategies, and future challenges to ensure sustainable urban development in Albania

THE SILENCE IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND THE CASE OF PALESTINE: A THEORETICAL READING ON ABSTENTION AT THE UNSC

    Get PDF
While the reactions of states in times of crisis are frequently examined in the international relations literature, silence is often ignored. The study opens to discussion this gap in the literature by evaluating it through a theoretical framework. In the study, the multidimensional function of silence in international politics is discussed through the perspectives of realism, constructivism and feminist theory. Within the scope of the study, the resolutions of and the votes held by the United Nations Security Council on the Palestine question after October 2023, especially the abstentions of the USA, Britain and Russia are examined and evaluated in the context of silence. The results reveal that abstention is a preference for protecting national interests, expanding the field of diplomatic action, and managing international reputation, rather than mere neutrality. However, the Palestinian example shows that silence cannot be considered as a functional or legitimate foreign policy tool in all cases, and it may cause ethical and moral problems. This study positions silence as a new category in international relations and aims to examine its limits and vulnerabilities through the case of Palestine

Achieving the affordable housing aspect of SDG 11 requires robust regulatory and financial support. Consequently, capital market financing instruments, such as social bonds, are essential. The study\u27s main focus is a comparative analysis of the regulations for affordable housing programs financed through social bond instruments in Indonesia and the Philippines. The results show differences that the Philippines provides more specific regulatory provisions for social bonds. However, a similarity exists, as both nations adopt the Social Bond Principles issued by the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) and the ASEAN Social Bond Standards. From international law’s perspective, the recognition of regulations, principles, and legal standards developed by nonstate organizations implies a shift in their legal status. The Vienna Convention of 1986 has shifted the position of ICMA and ACMF for member countries like Indonesia and the Philippines from merely coordinative to a subordinative status. Furthermore, Indonesia\u27s social bond regulation leans toward legal harmonization, whereas the Philippines employs the unification concept for ICMA and ASEAN standards. The Philippines\u27 use of the unification concept for the ASEAN Social Bonds Standards offers greater potential to boost confidence among foreign investors, especially those in ASEAN, in its social bond issuances.

    Get PDF
