intrahospitalaria y a nueve años. El análisis incluyó estadística descriptiva, comparaciones
bivariantes y modelos multivariantes.
Resultados – Se analizaron 5361 pacientes (72 % varones; 58 % con 70-90 años). La tasa de
ingresos cayó un 54 % (41,7 → 19,1/10 000 hab.), mayor en varones (-57 %) que en mujeres (-
secundaria.Introduction – European guidelines recommend lowering LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C) to < 55
mg/dL after a coronary event, but it is unclear how often this goal is achieved or how it affects
long-term survival. We assessed one-year lipid control, its trend from 2016 to 2024, and its
association with mortality in the Alicante–Sant Joan health district.
Methods – This retrospective cohort included every first hospital admission for ischemic heart
disease (ICD-10) between 2016 and 2024, excluding transfers and readmissions. Electronic
records provided age, sex, admitting ward, 12-month lipid tests, in-hospital deaths, and nineyear
all-cause mortality. Descriptive statistics, bivariate tests, and multivariable models were
applied.
Results – We analysed 5361 patients (72 % men; 58 % aged 70–90 years). Admission rates fell
54 % (41.7 → 19.1 per 10 000), with a steeper drop in men (-57 %) than women (-45 %). A lipid
panel was absent in 24.2 % of survivors, and 5.2 % of these patients died within the year. Only
28,9% reached LDL-C < 55 mg/dL, while 52,4% remained <70 mg/dL; women had poorer
control (58% vs 42% in men) and the same happened with the eldest. (16,5 vs 29,5%; p=,001).
In-hospital mortality was 6.3 % (7.9 % women; 5.6 % men), and nine-year mortality 31.8 %,
rising steadily with age. After adjustment, each additional year of age increased the odds of
death (OR 1.09/year; IC 95 % 1,081-1,100)), and admission outside Cardiology doubled it (OR
2.13; IC 95 % 1,81-2,49). Baseline LDL-C was not an independent predictor.
Conclusions – LDL-C control after a coronary admission remains low and has not improved
over the past decade. Women and older patients show the worst lipid profiles and the highest
mortality, indicating a need for tighter follow-up and more intensive secondary-prevention
strategies in these groups
Shift work is common in essential sectors and has expanded due to the productive demands of today's market. However, it has negative impacts on workers’ physical and mental health, such as circadian rhythm disruptions and the development of chronic illnesses. It also affects work-life balance, leading to stress and problems in social relationships. To mitigate these effects, there are regulations in Spain and Europe that regulate working hours and conditions. These laws promote preventive measures and medical examinations to protect workers. The design of this work is a literature review following the PRISMA methodology, with the main objective of evaluating the health risks associated with shift work. To achieve this, a literature search was conducted using a set of inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in the selection of 18 articles for study. Various studies have shown that shift work negatively affects health. Regarding mental health, it increases the risk of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation, especially in workers with evening chronotypes. It is also associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and ischemic heart disease, particularly with prolonged night shifts. Additionally, it increases the prevalence of metabolic syndrome due to circadian rhythm disruptions and unhealthy habits. In terms of cognitive health, there is evidence of a higher risk of dementia, especially in people over 50 or those who have worked shifts for more than six years. Gastrointestinal disorders, such as indigestion, gastroesophageal reflux, or irritable bowel syndrome, are also more frequent among shift workers. Insomnia is significantly more common, with prevalence rates exceeding 50% in some rotating schedules. Lastly, shift work is also associated with a higher risk of breast and prostate cancer. These effects are worsened by stress, fatigue, substance use, and reduced social life. The primary trigger is the mismatch between working hours and the biological clock. These findings call for labor policies that prioritize health and biological rhythms

Beyond these core principles, it addresses additional aspects such as authentication, authorization, non-repudiation, and continuous risk management. Modern cybersecurity relies on the interconnection of three essential pillars: people, processes, and technology, among which the human factor remains the most vulnerable. In this context, digital trust has become fundamental to the online user experience, particularly in digital service and e-commerce platforms
Atmospheric CO2 column concentration over Iran: Emissions, GOSAT satellite observations, and WRF-GHG model simulations
Regarding global warming and climate change, carbon dioxide (CO2) is one of the most important greenhouse gases. Simulating CO2 gas at hourly/weekly time intervals and desired vertical resolution is challenging due to the coarse horizontal resolution of global models. In this study, both column-averaged CO2 mixing ratio (XCO2) and vertical cross sections of CO2 mixing ratio were simulated by the Weather Research and Forecast Green House gas (WRF-GHG) model at spatial resolutions of 30 and 10 km for the Middle East region as the first domain, and Iran as the second domain. Simulations consider the primary CO2 sources (anthropogenic, biogenic, fire, and oceanic) and the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) dataset. XCO2 retrieved from GOSAT satellite observations was employed to evaluate the simulation results of the column-averaged CO2 concentrations in February and August 2010. The evaluations showed that the spatiotemporal variability of meteorological variables was well simulated by WRF-GHG with correlation coefficients r of 0.86–0.92, 0.67–0.75, and 0.76–0.82 for temperature, wind, and relative humidity, respectively, during February and August 2010. The evaluations also indicated that the WRF-GHG simulations outperformed the global model TM3, with mean bias error values of − 0.79 and 0.45 PPMV for WRF-GHG in February and August, respectively. The percentage contribution of net CO2 emissions from human activities in Iran was calculated as (38.33 % and 23.70 %) of the total emissions, respectively, with values of 4.4 and 0.85 kg/km2 in each month. The net emissions contributions of biogenic, fire, and oceanic sources were evaluated in February and August, with biogenic emissions contributing (31.901 % and 27.66 %), biogenic absorption contributing (24.07 % and 46.63 %), fire emissions contributing (5.7 % and 2.064 %), and oceanic emissions contributing (3.23 × 10−6 % and 2.23 × 10−6 %). Large-scale circulations and biogenic activity are responsible for the major features of the spatial and seasonal distribution of CO2 in the area. In February, column mixing ratios are higher in more northern latitudes; in August, they are higher to the south. Furthermore, the simulated vertical cross sections show high CO2 mixing ratios in the mid-lower troposphere and northerly/northeasterly advection in February; the vertical profile is inverted in August with high concentrations in the lower stratosphere associated with southwesterly advection. However, the interaction between the synoptic and sub-synoptic features with the topography determines the precise dispersion and distribution of CO2. Despite the negligible emissions in central and eastern Iran, these factors play an important role in the observed concentrations in February and August. In August, the areas between the 120-day low-level monsoon flow of Sistan in eastern Iran, and the westerlies over western/southwestern Iran and the Zagros Mountain range, interact with the heat-low in the Iranian plains and with the Arabian subtropical high. In February, the dominant winds in western Asia were west winds, with the main source of pollution coming from the northeastern regions flowing towards central and eastern Iran. The equatorward displacement of the polar jet stream and the passage of low-pressure systems from the west in winter cause a temporary reduction in CO2 concentrations

Likewise, significant differences were observed between groups in executive functions. Finally, some correlations were found between the scores of executive functions with the social decision task both in the non-consumers group and in the consumers group, thus the risky option was positively correlated in the experimental group with task monitoring r (31) = .412, p = .019, also in the experimental group a negative correlation was observed between the safe option and Task monitoring r (31) = -.412, p = .019. Conclusions: It is concluded that people with consumption are more involved in risky decisions, but do not differ in response time from the group of non-consumers. Also, higher executive dysregulation scores are found in consumers and some of these scores are related to risky decision making in simulated contexts
Problematic use, psychopathological comorbidity and personality factors in adolescent clinical population
Introduction. Problematic Internet Use (PIU) is common in adolescents undergoing psychopathological treatment. This study analyzes the prevalence of PIU and its associations with sociodemographic, psychopathological, and personality characteristics in a clinical sample of adolescents. Additionally, it assesses the usefulness of the Internet Addiction Test - Youth version (IAT-Y) and its parent version (IAT-P) in detecting the clinical diagnosis of "Internet Addiction". Method. Ninety-two adolescents (12-17 years old) from child and youth mental health centers in two Spanish cities, and one of their parents, participated in the study. Adolescents reported their Internet use, personality traits and disorders, behavioral problems (internalizing and externalizing), and other sociodemographic and clinical characteristics. Parents reported their children's Internet use and behavioral problems. Results. The analysis revealed that 17.4% of patients received the clinical diagnosis of "Internet Addiction" based on the adaptedDSM-5 criteria for "Internet Gaming Disorder". A total of 8.7% of young people (according to the IAT-Y) and 41.3% of parents (according to the IAT-P) recognized severe PIU (score ≥ 70). The IAT-Y score was positively associated with internalizing and externalizing behavior problems and with worse family functioning. It also correlated negatively with Agreeableness and Conscientiousness traits and positively with Neuroticism traits, as well as symptoms of Schizotypal, Histrionic, Borderline, and Avoidant Personality Disorders. Finally, the IAT-P was more accurate than the IAT-Y in detecting the diagnosis of "Internet Addiction". Conclusions. These findings underline the need to evaluate patients with PIU in personality, psychopathology, and family variables to tailor treatments according to the rest of the associated problems. Furthermore, evidence is provided on the usefulness of the IAT, especially the parents’ version (IAT-P) in the early detection of "Internet Addiction Disorder" in adolescents with mental disorders

This concern is partly due to growing consumer awareness of animal living conditions and scientific evidence linking animal welfare is not only an ethical issue, but also has economic implications by affecting animal productivity. Animal welfare is defined as the physical and mental state of an animal in relation to its environment. An animal with good welfare is able to cope with the demands of its environment and exhibits natural behaviours. Stress and welfare are opposites, and animal production should promote animal welfare and minimise stress. Stress arises when an animal perceives a threat or is unable to adapt to its environment, and causes long-term damage to the immune, endocrine and reproductive systems, thus havieng negative consequences for animal health and welfare. The most used biomarkers to measure the level of stress in the animal include hormones such as cortisol and corticosterone, acute phase proteins, and haematological parameters. In addition to these biochemical indicators, stress manifests itself in physiological changes such as increased heart and respiratory rates and elevated body temperature. Thermography, a non-invasive technique that measures infrared radiation emitted by bodies, has emerged as a valuable tool for assessing stress in animals, allowing continuous measurement of body temperature and detection of stress response patterns in various species. The rabbit is particularly sensitive to stress. Alterations in environmental temperature and photoperiod, as well as social stress situations, affect the hormonal axis that regulates fertility, resulting in lower libido, reduced sperm quality, lower ovulation rate and smaller litter size. In addition, stress decreases milk production, worsens growth and meat quality, and increases the incidence of stereotypies. Chronic stress in rabbits therefore compromises their welfare and has important economic consequences for rabbit production. To improve adaptation to stress in rabbits, several genetic selectioin strategies have been implemented. One of them is selection for resistance to diseases, such as myxomatosis and mucoid enteropathy, which has been shwon to increase animal survival. Another strategy is selection for longevity and resilience. Longevity is defined as the number of parturitions of a doe and has been associated with an animal's increased ability to adapt to different environments. Resilience, on the other hand, is related to the animal's ability to maintain its productive performance in the face of environmental perturbations and has been measured through litter size uniformity. In the facilities of the Polytechnic School of Orihuela (EPSO), an experiment of divergent selection for variability in litter size has been carried out. The lines of this experiment are the animal material of this thesis. The working hypothesis of this thesis is that rabbits from the homogeneous line for litter size at parturition are more resistant to stress and have higher survival than rabbits selected for heterogeneity for litter size at parturition. To evaluate the correlated response of selection for litter size variability at parturition on the female's response to stress and survival of the doe during lactation, three experiments were proposed. In the first, variations in body temperature emitted by rabbits following a stressful stimulus were stimated using a thermographic camera. The rabbits in the homogeneous line experienced their maximum temperature emissivity earlier than the heterogeneous line after the stressful stimulus (5 min vs. 30 min). The intensity of the body temperature emissivity of the heterogeneous line at 30 min was 0.96ºC higher than the temperature of the homogeneous line. In the second experiment, the mobilisation of energy reserves of the rabbits at critical times between the second mating and weaning was assessed by measuring body condition and perirenal fat thickness by ultrasound. Rabbits of the homogenous line lost less fat reserves between mating and parturition and gained more body reserves between parturition and 10 days postpartum, thus having a better body condition to cope with the lactation of their rabbits. Perirenal fat thickness at parturition in the homogenous line was 7.71 mm compared to 7.44 mm in the heterogeneous line (P = 0.99) and at 10 days postpartum, the thickness was 8.17 mm and 7.90 mm ((P = 0.99), respectively. On the other hand, in the third experiment, the use of the rabbit's body reserves was further explored by evaluating the individual weaning weights and the distance to the mean of their litters as a measure of homogeneity in growth. In this case, rabbits from the homogeneous line at weaning had smaller distance of thier individual weights to the mean of their litters than rabbits from the heterogeneous line (47.8 g and 54.1 g, respectively). In terms of survival, litter size at parturition was quantified for both lines (8.3 g in the homogenous and 7.7 g in the heterogeneous), survival to parturition at 4 days postpartum and at weaning. Rabbits from the homogenous line had larger litter size at weaning as a consequence of higher survival (+ 5%; P = 0.93). In conclusion, selection for homogeneity in litter size can be an effective tool to improve the animal's ability to cope with high energy demands without decreasing productive performance, and thus be a valid selection method to improve animal welfar
Modal Theory of Phase-Modulated and Frequency-Shifting Ring Cavities
A theoretical and experimental characterization of the optical modes of dispersionless
ring cavities incorporating phase modulators (PM) and/or frequency shifters (FS) is presented.
Using linear operator theory, the exact response of these cavities to arbitrary modulating
waveforms and optical inputs is computed and shown to be a filtering process that selects a
certain class of fields, invariant under multiple roundtrips, which are identified with the cavity’s
optical modes. The different types of PM/FS cavity modes are analyzed. This approach also
leads to a representation of these cavities as unmodulated resonators preceded and followed by
complementary phase modulations, which are linearly related to the imparted intracavity phase
modulation or frequency shift. The theory is experimentally validated by the external injection
of engineered phase and frequency modulated cavity modes in an Er:fiber PM fiber loop, and
also compared with the emission modes of FM lasers and CW frequency-shifted feedback lasers.
These results provide a unified view for the linear analysis of systems employing PM/FS active
cavities or resonators, of interest in the field of photonic signal generation and processing
