The Use of Discovery Method to Improve Students’ Learning Activities and Outcome in Learning Mathematics at Grade V in Public Elementary School 08 Nan Limo Mudik, Palupuh District, Agam Regency
The research conducted based on the students’ learning activities and outcome in learning math about finding the area of the plane at grade V in Public Elementary School 08 Nan Limo Mudik, Palupuh District, Agam Regency was still low. After doing observation, it turned out that the teaching-learning process was less interesting and the use of media was less appropriate so that students’ ability to do problem solving, to convey the ideas, and to find by themselves the formula of the area of plane was low. Therefore, this research used discovery method conducted in the first semester, 2016/2017 academic year. This research consisted of two cycles. Every cycle consisted of four stages that are planning, implementing, observation, analysis, and reflection. The result of the research showed that by using discovery methods, there was the increase in students’ learning activities and outcome at grade V in Public Elementary School 08 Nan Limo Mudik. For the students’ learning activities, there was the increase from 70,38 in the first cycle to 83,75 in the second cycle. Based on that mark, the average mark of students’ learning activities was in very good qualification. The percentage of the students’ learning outcome also increased from 45 % by the average 71,10 in the first cycle to 95% by the average 84,65 in the second cycle. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of discovery method can increase students’ learning activities and outcome in learning math at at grade V in Public Elementary School 08 Nan Limo Mudik. In accordance with qualitative, the teaching-learning process using discovery method can increase students’ learning activities and outcome in learning math about finding the area of the plane. To summarize, the use of the discovery method succeeded to increase students’ learning activities and outcome exceeding the KKM. Therefore, the research can be closed
Welding Technique Training and Neon Box Advertising Board for Youth Work Groups in Areas Affected by Earthquake Disasters
Abstract: Cubadak Air and Sikapak Barat villages are two villages from many villages affected by the earthquake that hit West Sumatra in 2009. The impact is still felt today. More than eighty percent of the houses and economic facilities of the people in this area were destroyed, so there was a lot of unemployment in this village. The purpose of this activity was to train groups of out of school youth in Cubadak Air and Sikapak Barat villages about welding techniques and the manufacture of neon box advertising boards. The method used in this activity is the provision of theories about the science of materials, welding, workshop management, welding practice techniques, and the manufacture of billboards. The results of this activity were the completion of the signboard of the Al-Abrar Great Mosque and the "Piaman Saiyo" Community Training Center in Cubadak Air Village.Key words: Workmanship, Billboards, Neon boxes, Skills Abstrak. Desa Cubadak Air dan Sikapak Barat adalah dua desa dari banyak desa yang terkena bencana gempa yang melanda Sumatera Barat pada tahun 2009 lalu. Dampaknya hingga kini masih terasa. Lebih delapan puluh persen rumah dan fasilitas perekonomian masyarakat di daerah ini hancur, sehingga di desa ini banyak terjadi pengangguran. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini untuk melatih kelompok pemuda putus sekolah di Desa Cubadak Air dan Sikapak Barat tentang teknik pengelasan dan pembuatan papan iklan dari neon box. Metode yang dilakukan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pemberian teori tentang ilmu bahan, las, manjemen bengkel, teknik praktek las, dan pembuatan papan iklan. Hasil yang dicapai dari kegiatan ini adalah telah selesainya papan nama Masjid Raya Al-Abrar dan Pusat Pelatihan Masyarakat “Piaman Saiyo” di Desa Cubadak Air.Keywords: Tuna karya, Papan iklan, Neon box, Skil
The Effect of Parental Attention, Home Study Facilities and Learning Motivation on Students Learning Outcome (Research : Social Sciense Subject in District Sungayang High School Tanah Datar Regency)
This research was conducted to see how far the effect of parental attention, home study facilities and motivation on student learning outcome of social science subject on District Sungayang high school Tanah Datar regency. Descriptive associative method was used to conduct this research. The sample which was chosen by using proportional random sampling method. The collected data was analized stastiscally with path analysis. Thus, the result show that (1) parental attention gave a significant effect on student motivation, (2) home study facilities fgave a significat effect on student motivation, (3) parental attention gave a significant effect on students learning outcome, (4) home study facilities gave a significant effect on student learning outcome and (5) motivation gave a significant effect on student learning outcome
Relationship between body image and self-acceptance of female students
This research is motivated by the phenomenon of female students who give a negative assessment of their body shape. The impact of the student is not being able to accept the situation that is in him. This study aims to examine the significant relationship between body image and self-acceptance of female students. This study uses quantitative methods with descriptive and correlation types. The total sample of 242 students was selected using a purpose stratified random sampling technique. The research instrument used was body image inventory and inventory of female student self-acceptance. Data were analyzed by Pearson Product Moment technique. The results revealed that there was a significant relationship between body image and self-acceptance of female students with a correlation coefficient of -0.469 which was at a significance level of 0,000. This can be interpreted that the more positive the body image, the higher the level of self-acceptance, and vice versa, the more negative the body image, the lower the level of self-acceptance. With the findings of these studies, counselors can provide guidance and counseling services such as information services, individual counseling services, group guidance services, and group counseling services specifically related to body image and self-acceptance
The Development of Guidance and Counseling Services in 4.0 Era: Lesbian Behavior
Lesbian behavior affects adolescents. It happens because, physically, adolescent have experienced growth of maturity in sexual function that is why the sexual drive is getting stronger. Several factors that influence the tendency of lesbians mostly happen in early adulthood. This research was development research with the ADDIE model. The total participants of this study were 183 junior high school students chosen by using purposive sampling. In the analysis phase, the researchers identified the tendency of adolescents to behave in lesbians in some ways, such as used self-identification instruments, determined e-module material (design), developed instruments to determine eligibility by experts and the use of e-modules by counselors (development), conducted limited trials to 30 students in the school (implementation), and assessed the overall aspects of product usage by the counselor at school (evaluation). Based on the development of this e-module, it can be concluded that the product was workable in content and appearance because it has been empirically tested and ready to be used for adolescent in school
Cooperative Learning Model Jigsaw and Interest Type in Improving Learning Outcomes of SMA Negeri 1 Sutera Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan
Effect of Cooperative Model of Jigsaw Type Learning and Student Interest in improving learning outcomes in SMA Negeri 1 Sutera. The research method used in writing this essay in accordance with the type of research is quasi experimental research (quasi experimental), where the research variables can not be fully controlled. This research has a control group. The research design used to measure learning method and student's interest toward the result of dissemination of culture and religion. This research is parenting at level (2x2), with state of student interest level. The results of the study revealed (1) the learning outcomes of students who were taught by the Jigsaw cooperative model approach were better than the conventional approach, (2) the students' learning outcomes had high interests taught by the Jigsaw type cooperative model better than the conventional approach, (3) learning of students with low interests taught by Jigsaw type cooperative models is better than conventional model
Study of hedonistic lifestyles based on sexes and cultural background (students of batak and minang culture)
This research aims at investigating the varieties of hedonistic lifestyles adopted by university students based on their sexes and cultural backgrounds. Culture is referred to in this research is the culture of Batak and Minang culture. The formulation to the problem for this research is there any difference in the lifestyle of hedonism in terms of gender and culture. This research method using descriptive quantitative. Sample for this study where students numbered 80 people. Data collection techniques in this study using questionnaires about the behavior of hedonism. Data were analyzed using t-test. Based on testing and data analysis significance level of <0.005. Namely, the hedonistic lifestyle in terms of gender has the significance of 0.000, and the lifestyle of hedonism in terms of culture has a significance of 0.005. This means that there are differences in terms hedonistic lifestyle of sex and Minang and Batak culture at the level of students
The developing students' dicipline character
This study have some purposes. First, to analyze the implementation of developing dicipline students' character in school. Second, to analyze the school strategies in maintaining the developing character of students' discipline. Third, to identify obstacles in fostering the character of students' discipline. Fourth, to found a solution in fostering the character of students' discipline. Meanwhile, this research used qualitative method by using interview technique, observation and documentation study. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of students' discipline character is seen at the students who come late in school, the rules enforced by the school adhered to all participants in the school, is not independent of the school's character education is well developed through a supportive school culture. School strategy in maintaining the character of student discipline is by providing motivation, encouraging students to obey the rules through banners displayed in every corners of the school and apply reward and punishment system. Meanwhile, the constraints that face for this problem are often encountered in school in the formation of student discipline character that is the delay of students coming to school and lack of parental support in disciplining children. Hence, as the solving of problem, the school giving some advice to the student's about to don't come to school and also make a cooperation solution with student's parent by sent letter, that called warning letter. Then, by the cooperation with the parent could to overcome the students' dicipline problem
Influence of discipline on employee performance in regional disaster management agency kota Sungai Penuh
This study aims to determine the effect of discipline on the performance of employees at the Regional Disaster Management Agency of Sungai Penuh City, to know the amount of influence discipline on the performance of employees at the Regional Disaster Management Agency of Sungai Penuh City. This type of research is quantitative research to see the influence between independent variables (independent) with dependent variable (dependent). In this study the researcher wanted to see the effect of discipline on the performance of employees at the Regional Disaster Management Agency of Sungai Penuh City. The results of this study are: obtained Ha value received on the significance and ? (0.05)> 0.05 (significikacy) means there is a significant effect of discipline on the performance of employees at the Regional Disaster Management Agency of Sungai Penuh City. then the better the discipline the better the performance of employees. The influence of discipline on the performance of employees At the Regional Disaster Management Agency in kota Sungai Penuh city City is influenced by factors other than discipline

The Influence of Supervision Implementation by School Principal, School Climate, and Work Motivation on Performance of Madrasah Aliyah of Palembang State Teacher, Dissertation of Graduate Program at State University of Padang. Population 141 teachers, research sample 60 (42.55%) teachers. Proportional sampling of random sampling based on education level, class and years of service. Data collected through questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability, and data analyzed by path analysis techniques. The findings indicate that Supervision Implementation by the Principal directly affects Teacher Performance 15.3%, Supervision Implementation by Principal Affects Teacher Performance through Work Motivation 8.29%, School Climate directly affects Teacher Performance 30.7%, School Climate influences on Job Performance through Work Motivation 16,64%, Work Motivation Influence on Teacher Performance 54,2%, Supervision Implementation by Principal, School Climate, and Work Motivation together influence to Teacher Performance 99,5%.
