Students’ Smoking Behavior and its Prevention Study on State Senior High School and State Vocational School Painan at South Pesisir Region
The background of this research was formulated in relation to student’s smoking behavior and aiming for: (1) grouping the students based on theirsmoking behavior; (2) achieving scores of three variables, which are the quality of the students smoking, the environmental quality of the non-smoking area, and the quality of information services by teacher guidance and couseling, and the differences and relation between the three variables and (3) effortsto prevent students smoking behavior by guidance and counseling teacher by using information services.This research used descriptive-quantitative method, and the populationwas the students and guidance and cunseling teacher in SMAN and SMKN, with totalsample was 120 students and 5 guidance and counseling teachers which wasseleted by using random technique. By using questionnaires and interview the data of this research was collected and then analyzed by using descriptive statistical techniques.The research results showed that: (1) grouping the students based on their smoking behavior was non-smoker group, hesitated group, and smoker group with the highest number is non-smokers, second place was hesitated, and the last is the smoker group. (2) the scores of the first variable showed that the condition in SMAN is higher than SMKN; second variable scores showed that the condition in SMAN is higher than SMKN, and the third variable scores showed that the condition in SMAN student is higher than SMKN student’s; the relation between three variable scores is high; (3) efforts to prevent student smoking behavior by guidance and counseling teachers in using informasion services was not running well
The Headmaster Leadership Style on Junior High School: A Qualitative Analysis
The purpose of this research is to describe the leadership style of Junior High School. This research focused on the leadership style of the headmaster, communication with the teachers, employees and the improved teachers’ performance. This research was conducted at Junior High School and used qualitative data collection method with one headmaster of junior high school and 10 teachers. This research used observation, interview and documentation study. The result shows that the headmaster of Junior High School had done the leadership duty very well; by used democratic and transformational style, and authoritarian if needed. The subject always tried to improve teachers’ maximum performance, communicated efficiently and interactively. Then, there are some major role in the school’s improvement and achievements, either academic or non academic. It became the proof that there is a relationship between maximum teacher performance and student achievement at Junior High School. From this research results, there were suggested that headmaster need to maintain and improve the school’s quality.
Analysis of factors influencing students choosing vocational high school in Solok Selatan
This study aims to determine the factors that affect students choose smk country in the district south solok. The type of research is explorative research. The sampling technique in this study is with proportional random sampling, with a sample of 325 people who are distributed in 5 SMK Negeri Solok Selatan. Data collection was done through interviews, questionnaires, and documentation as a reference in this study. The analytical method used is factor analysis. Research is classified into quantitative research using survey method. To test the hypothesis by using t test. The results showed that: 1).Social Economy factors become factors that are considered by students to decide decisions in choosing a school. 2) cost of education and support factor becomes the factor considered by the students to determine the decision in choosing the school
The contribution of work motivation and school work climate on school counselor performance
This study originated from research findings and interviews with several people teacher guidance and counseling in SMP South Coastal District which revealed that the performance of teacher guidance and counseling have not described a success made in carrying out their duties and responsibilities, one of them in implementing the guidance and counseling program in schools. The success of guidance and counseling teacher performance can be affected byfactors. Some of these factors is the work motivation and school work climate. There fore, researcher wanted to describe: (1) the performance of guidance and counseling teachers, work motivation, and school work climate, (2) the contribution of work motivation on guidance and counseling teacher performance, (3) contribution of school work climate to the guidance and counseling teacher performance, and (4) the contribution of work motivation and school work climate on guidance and counseling teacher performance. This study was quantitative research with correlational method. The population research were all counseling teachers at SMP Payakumbuh City whose S.1 guidance and counseling educational background totaling 40 people, the sample were 40 people were selected by total sampling technique. The instrument that was used in this research was the Likert scale. Data were analyzed with simple regression and multiple regression. The findings showed that: (1) in average, the performance of teachers' guidance and counseling are in good enough category, the work motivatio non high category, and school work climate are in good enough, (2) there is contribution of work motivation on teacher performance guidance and counseling 20.8% (r= 0.457. significance 0.003), (3) contribution of school work climate on guidance and counseling teacher performance amounted to 10.72% (r= 0.327, significance 0.039), and 4) there is a contribution of work motivation and school work climate together on teacher performance guidance and counseling were 27% (R= 0.520, significance 0.003). The study results representan input forguidance and counseling teacher, and teachers further enhance employe school work climate and performancein performing their duties and responsibilities as teacher guidance and counseling in school
Development and validation english learning materials based on task-based learning for nursing students
The aim of this research was to develop English learning materials based on task-based learning in the form of handout for nursing study program students. There are 33 students used as sample and there are 4 experts to judge the development process of developed handout. Instruments of this research are questionnaires, interview, and validation checklist. Research method was Research and Development (R&D). ADDIE model used to develop the handout. The result of needs analysis indicated the students needed to learn English language use in the nursing context. Then appropriate handout of English for Nursing was developed based on the result of needs analysis. Based on the experts’ judgments and users’ perception, the developed handout are categorized valid, effective, and practical

The purpose of this research is to reveal the form of community support capacity, explain the constraints faced, and the efforts undertaken by the community in maintaining theicon as a village rendang. This research uses etnometodology method by using interview technique, observation and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the form of carrying capacity undertaken by the entrepreneurs are: maintaining the material and quality, maintaining quality improvement of workers and institutional support (cooperative and marketing). Constraints faced are: low technology, lack of human resources (quality of workers), marketing. The efforts undertaken in the community in maintaining the icon as a village rendang namely: utilization of social media and product innovation
The effect of inquiry learning toward 5th grade students’ understanding on sciences based on motivation in padang
This study aims to explain (1) Differences in understanding the concept of science students who taught using Inquiry Strategy with students who were taught using Conventional Strategy on science learning in class V SD, (2) Differences understanding of science concept between high motivation students with Low motivation on science learning in class V SD, and (3) Differences of interaction between learning strategy with motivation in influencing understanding of science concept in class V SD Gugus 1 Kecamatan Padang Barat. The population consisted of all the fifth grade students at Kecamatan Padang Barat in the school year 2016/2017. The sample size was 60 students. The data in this study consisted of (1) the data on the students’ learning motivation, (2) the data on comprehension of science. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and 2x2 factorial Anova. From the results of this research, it can be concluded that (1) (there was a difference on concept of science understanding between students’ taught by using Inquiry learning and those who were taught by using conventional technique), (2) there was different on sciences understanding between high motivation and low motivation students and (3) there was no significant interaction between teaching approach and motivation influencing concept of sciences understanding
The Effect of Peer Conference Strategy and Self-Confidence toward the Writing Skill of Recount Text (An Experimental Research on the Grade Eight Students of SMPN 22 Padang)
Writing is one of the important skills that should be mastered by the students. In writing, the students need to express their feeling in a good way and well-organized. In fact, most of students were lack of idea and could not write well-organized in written form. The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of Peer Conference Strategy and students’ self-confidence toward the writing skill of recount text. The sample consists of 64 students. The research data was collected using writing test and self-confidence questionnaires. Data analysis was using t-test and Two Ways ANOVA. The analysis of the research results shows that (1) Peer Conference strategy was effective than expository strategy; (2) Peer Conference strategy was effective to high self-confidence students; (3) Peer Conference strategy was not effective to low self-confidence students; (4) There was an interaction both teaching strategies and self-confidence in writing skill
The Role of Bamus in Nagari Development
The purpose of this research is to analyze the implementation of the role of the Consultative Body (Bamus) and identify the factors that influence the implementation of the role of the Consultative Body (Bamus) in the construction of Nagari Pilubang. The type of research used is descriptive research with qualitative approach by using observation technique, interview and documentation study. The results show that the implementation of the role of members of Bamus in nagari development has not been optimal, it can be seen from the unfinished implementation of legislative function, budget function, supervision function and the function of accommodating and channeling the aspirations of the community. This is due to several factors including the limited human resources of the members of Bamus Nagari, the lack of cooperation, communication and coordination between each member of Bamus, the lack of cooperation and communication between Bamus and the nagari government, KAN and other nagari institutions in terms of official, trial based on provisions that have been established and the last lack of confidence and courage members Bamus in conveying his opinion in public
The Effectiveness of Developing Contextual Material For Teaching English at Madrasah Aliyah
One of the aspects that determine the success of the learning process is teaching materials. This research aimed to develop the effectiveness of contextual material for teaching English at Madrasah Aliyah. The design of this research is development research by using ADDIE model. The product consists of two books, (teacher's book and students'book) the title is “English For Us”. Subjects in this research were all students of grade X. Sample were 87 persons and it was selected by using the purposive technique. The instrument used to collect data was a survey, questionnaires, and an interview. Data analysis was used the qualitative and quantitative technique. The practicalities of the teacher’s book were 82.54 and students’ book showed an average 84.63 score. The effectiveness of a product is measured through pre-test is 68,00 and post-test is 75.44. It can be concluded that the contextual material for teaching English at Madrasah Aliyah was effectiv
