The Impact of Organizational Readiness on Financial and Project Performance from the Employee's Perspective: A Case Study
The COVID-19 pandemic forced non-essential sectors to limit operations, leading to financial decline. Organizational readiness to adopt digital technology has become critical for firms' survival. However, limited empirical research has explored the correlation between organizational readiness, financial performance, and project performance. This study aims to address this gap by examining these relationships. Using a quantitative approach, this study employed non-probability purposive sampling, collecting 85 data points between December 27, 2021, and January 27, 2022. A total of 30 indicators were used to measure five research constructs, and the data were analyzed using the PLS-SEM method with SmartPLS software. The findings indicate that organizational readiness positively influences project performance through the mediating effect of organizational capabilities, specifically dynamic capabilities and project management capabilities. Both dynamic capabilities and project management capabilities positively affect project performance. Additionally, the study reveals a positive correlation between project performance and financial performance. However, dynamic capabilities do not significantly impact project management capabilities. This study suggests that top management should optimize the utilization of existing assets, enhance technical capabilities, align resources with strategic objectives, foster innovation, secure organizational support, cultivate an innovative work environment, and maintain a clear business vision
Investigation on the Structural Behaviour of GFRP Laminated BFRC Beams
This study attempts to investigate the performance of the reinforced concrete beam by using basalt fibre reinforced concrete (BFRC) and glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRC) as external strengthening. For this purpose, four beams with different strengthening were cast and tested under four-point bending tests. The performance of the beams was compared in terms of mid-point deflection, flexural strength, ductility and failure modes. Additionally, finite element models of the beams have been developed to simulate the behaviour of the strengthened beams. Subsequently, the finite element results were compared with the experimental results and were found to be in good agreement. Finally, the experimental testing and numerical results showed that the flexure capacity of the reinforced concrete beams was enhanced for GFRP strengthening and reduction in the deflection of the beams was observed for BFRC
The Axial Compression Capacity of Finger-Jointed Laminated Board Made from Rubber Wood Species
The utilisation of Rubberwood was an effort to provide an alternative to low-cost housing in Indonesia. This study investigated the use of Rubberwood Finger-Jointed Laminated Board (FJLB) under compression loading parallel to the grain. The investigation included laboratory experiments and numerical analysis. The experiments were conducted using two specimens of FJLB members, each with a length of 2000 mm and a cross-sectional dimension of 100 mm × 100 mm². Finite element analysis (FEA) was employed to predict the axial capacity, considering non-linearity, contact boundary conditions, and buckling analysis of the material. The study found an average axial capacity of 150.9 kN for the two specimens, which was 3.2% higher than the FEA and 5.4% higher compared to the Euler formula. Laboratory measurements revealed that initially, the stress distribution in the cross-section was uniform, then suddenly changed to a combination of tension and compression during the final loading stage
Vehicle Routing Problem Optimization for Rebar Material Distribution using the Symbiotic Organisms Search Method
The success rate of construction projects depends on subcontractors and material suppliers, especially in ensuring the material delivery to avoid delays and cost overruns. The Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) addresses transportation management to minimize the distribution costs. This study presents a comparative analysis of three VRP scenarios: the existing case, the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP), and the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows (CVRPTW). The Symbiotic Organisms Search (SOS) method is used to solve the VRP of a building materials supplier in Sulawesi, Indonesia in delivering rebar to 19 locations over 12 weeks while considering the vehicle capacity and the time window constraints. The results show that the SOS method effectively handles the rebar distribution problems with these constraints. The CVRP scenario achieves a total cost saving of Rp 23,263,278 (26.15%), while the CVRPTW scenario saves Rp 6,732,942 (7.57%)
Damage Detection in Gusset Plates of Steel Truss Bridges using Modal Parameters: Experimental and Numerical Study
Corrosion in gusset plate elements has become a critical factor in bridge structural failures, emphasizing the need for more accurate and reliable damage detection methods. Conventional visual inspections are limited in precision and cannot provide real-time monitoring, underscoring the importance of advanced techniques. This study proposes a vibration-based Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) approach employing modal parameter indices, namely Mode Shape (MS), Mode Shape Curvature (MSC), Mode Shape Slope (MSS), and Mode Shape Curvature Square (MSCS), to detect damage in bridge components. Damage scenarios were simulated by introducing gusset plate cuts of 5%, 10%, and 20% to represent different levels of corrosion. The results indicate that MSC and MSCS are the most reliable methods for identifying damage locations in complex structural systems, as they capture mode shape alterations with high sensitivity. Furthermore, the accuracy of modal parameter analysis improves with increasing damage severity. These findings confirm MSC and MSCS as robust tools for early-stage corrosion detection in SHM applications
The Influence of Payment Schemes and Monitoring on Budgetary Slack: An Experimental Study
The misuse and markup of the budget is one of the most prevalent forms of corruption in Indonesia. The concept is the same as budgetary slack, which is to deliberately lower the budget target to make it easier to achieve. This study investigates the impact of different payment and monitoring schemes on budgetary slack using a 2x2 experimental design. Two independent variables are manipulated: the payment system (PBP vs. FP) and the presence of monitoring (yes or no), with 140 respondents participating. The findings of this study revealed that the average budgetary slack was greater in the PBP than in the FP payment scheme. Furthermore, budgetary slack increases under the PBP payment scheme when monitoring is present. These findings contribute to the understanding of how payment and monitoring systems interact to influence behavior and decision-making in budgeting processes. These findings also suggest that organizations should carefully consider the choice of payment schemes and monitoring systems to reduce the risk of budgetary slack, as different configurations can lead to unintended increases in slack, which may undermine organizational performance and accountability
Trust and Tax Morale: The Role of Governance Quality, Institutional, Media Campaigns
Institutional theory posits that the interaction of governance quality and institutional factors within both organizational and societal contexts shapes tax morale. Trust plays a key role at both interpersonal and institutional levels, enhancing tax morale and compliance. In today’s information age, the media significantly influences opinions and norms related to tax ethics. This study explores the mediating role of trust between governance quality and institutional determinants of tax morale, while also examining the moderating effect of media campaigns on this relationship, filling a gap in the literature. Using a survey of 418 individual taxpayers, the study finds that trust significantly mediates the effects of governance quality and institutional factors on tax morale. However, media campaigns show limited effectiveness in moderating the impact of trust on tax morale. These findings emphasize the importance of trust in shaping tax morale and highlight its potential as a strategic tool for enhancing tax compliance and ethical tax behavior
FICTIONAL CHARACTER AS A BRAND PERSONALITY FOR PROMOTION IN THE INDONESIAN MARKET: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW
The use of fictional characters in promotional campaigns has grown a lot in the last few years. Notable examples include Tomoro Coffee, UNIQLO, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, which have successfully incorporated characters from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen into their marketing strategies. This trend aligns with Indonesia's substantial anime viewer base, which reached approximately 50 million in 2023 and continues to grow proportionally with population expansion. This study aims to explore the potential relationships between a fictional character, brand personality, and promotion via a systematic literature review using PRISMA 2020, analyzing 45 articles from major databases (Web of Science and Google Scholar), drawing on diverse website sources, especially case studies relevant to the Indonesian market. The results show that there are three key links between: (1) a fictional character and a brand's personality, empirical studies show fictional characters boost consumer engagement psychologically; (2) a brand's personality and a promotion, studies confirm human representatives shape marketing strategically; (3) a fictional character and a promotion, research affirms fictional characters' promotional impact. Utilizing a fictional character as a brand personality offers significant potential for product marketing in Indonesia, supported by the country's large anime fanbase. These findings should pave the way for more study into quantitative investigation into the identified relationships and creating the ideal fictional character to use as a brand personality in order to make advertising more effective in Indonesia. The practical implications of this study offer implementable knowledges for brands utilizing anime collaborations to enhance market penetration in Indonesia
