The Effects of Lime on Acid Properties of Soil and on Faba Bean Yield in Banja District. The Case of Sankit Lideta, Awi Zone Amhara Regional State, Ethiopia
This study was conducted in the known acid soil area of Ethiopia Awi zone which is found in the Amhara regional state. Five levels of lime introduced (0, 1150kg/ha, 2300kg/ha, 3450kg/ha, 4600kg/ha) on the faba bean productivity in the acidic soils. This experiment was arranged in a factorial experiment using randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications and 39 .13kg/ha Urea and100kg/ha TSP had been used as the source of N and P, respectively. Crop data such as plant height, biomass yield and grain yield , 50% flowering ,50% maturity,95% maturity, number of pods/plant ,number of seeds /pod ,number of seeds /plant ,lodging ,stand count at emerge and harvest collected and analyzed using SAS Software version 9. The result of this study indicated that 4600kg/ha, lime brought significantly higher result than the control. As lime level increased from the 0 to 4600kg/ha, grain yield, 50% flowering, biomass yield, number of pods /plant, number of seeds/plant increased. However, as lime level increased the number of seeds/ pod, stand count at emerges, stand count at harvest, 50%maturity, 95%maturity did not bring significant change
Dynamics of Gully-Formation by Considering the Wave Motion of Flow
The dynamics of the formation of ravines (gullies) by taking the wave motion of flow into account. The article considers the question of impact of the wave motion of flow on the erosion intensity in the ravines. The technique to predict the occurrence of waves on a free surface of alluvium-carrying flows is proposed. Wave motion stimulates the intensity of the soil and ground washout. The influence of wave formation on the process of the erosion intensity is assessed by using the correction factor for the average flow velocity in the clear section
Ultrasound and MRI Findings in Patients with Planter Fasciitis
Background: planter fasciitis is the most common painful heel condition caused by inflammation at the insertion of the planter fascia on the medial process of the calcaneal tuberosity…it is usually clinically diagnosed but radiological imaging used for confirmation of the diagnosis and exclusion of the other conditions (such as foreign bodies, PF rupture, calcaneal bursitis….etc.) that may have same clinical presentation. Aim of the study: to assess the ultrasonography and MRI findings in patients with planter fasciitis. Patients and Method: In across sectional study of 34 patients(16 men and 18 women) with suspected unilateral or bilateral plantar fasciitis, 46 symptomatic heels were examined by both high-resolution ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) protocol to assess the different signs;11 healthy volunteers (22 heels) acted as controls. Results: in symptomatic feet, the plantar fascia was thickened. The thickness of the plantar fascia in symptomatic feet was (3.5–7.5 mm in range; mean 5.5mm ± 1.3) measured by ultrasound which was significantly thicker than in the control group (2–2.8 mm in range; mean 2.4mm± 0.07); P < 0.05. Other sonographic signs used for the diagnosis of plantar fasciitis in the study were compared to MRI findings. The diagnostic accuracy was 78.2% for abnormal intrinsic echogenicity within the plantar fascia, 73.9% for focal thickening ,60.8% for subcutaneous edema around the plantar fascia, and the lowest diagnostic accuracy of ultrasound was in detection of associated calcaneal spur (56.5%). The findings were compared and discussed in relation to other thesis. Conclusion: Ultrasonographic diagnosis of planter fasciitis is a useful tool compared to MRI and it could be the easy initial imaging modality for confirmation of clinically suspected plantar fasciitis. MRI may be kept for cases where a diagnosis of plantar fasciitis does not confidently explain the clinical presentation and when complex pathology is suspected
Effectivity of Gel Ethanolic Extract of Senggani Leaves (Melastoma candidum D. Don) In Increasing The Number of Fibroblast Cells and Thickness of Collagen Fibers Against Socket Wound after Tooth Extraction on Male White Rats
The important cells in wound healing process are the fibroblast cells and the density of collagen fibers. The Senggani leaves (Melastoma candidum D.Don) contains some active compound of flavonoids / phenols, triterpenoid / steroid, saponins, tannins and glycosides. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of gel ethanolic of Senggani leaves (Melastoma candidum D.Don) towards increased number of fibroblast cells and collagen density score in the process of wound healing after tooth extraction on male white rats (Rattus noevegicus). The research design was purely experimental in vivo, design post test only control group and non – randomly or non – probability sampling using the sample of 25 Wistar rats. Male white rats anesthetized intra-peritoneal (IP) using ketamine 100 mg / 1 ml at a dose of 20-40 mg/kg body weight of the rat, then extraction of the mandibular left incisor using a sharp excavator and pulling the pliers off, then Dental sockets are irrigated with a sterile was given Aloclair Plus gel ®, the treatment group was given 1% EDS, 5% EDS and 10% EDS twice a day with a frequency of 12 times the treatment.
On the seventh day, euthanasia was carried out, the rats were put into a closed box containing ether cotton until suffocation, followed by histological tissue making. Histology preparations were seen with the Boeco Binocular microscope BM-180 SP model, with the help of MDCE-5A digital microscope camera connected to a binocular microscope through the eyepiece entry hole, and using a 10 x objective lens and analyzed using Adobe Photoshop CS 6.0 software to view a number of fibroblast cells and density of collagen fibers. Calculations were carried out with 5 fields of view then calculated how many fibroblasts and collagen density scores in each field of view so that they were clearly visible. From the field of view 1 to 5 it is added up, taken the average. The results of descriptive analysis of the number of fibroblast cells and collagen fiber density scores showed that the average number of fibroblast cells and the highest collagen fiber density score in the 10% EDS treatment group were 83,133 and 3,933, followed by the positive control group of 82,667 and 3,667, the 5% EDS treatment group is 41,200 and 3,067, the EDS treatment group is 1% which is 33,800 and 3,000, and the lowest result is negative control which is 16,533 and 1,200. Data analysis was using Shapiro Wilk normality test, Levene homogeneity test, One way Anova test and the test of the comparative effect (LSD = Least Significant Difference and Tukey\u27s HSD = Honestly Significant Difference). The results showed that has normal distribution of data (p > 0,05) and homogeneity of data (p> 0,05). One way annova test results the significant number of fibroblast cells and collagen fiber density score on the fifth group (given Melastoma candidum D. Don rind extract gel concentration of 10 %). The conclusion showed that Melastoma candidum D. Don rind extract gel concentration of 10 % is effective towards increased the number of fibroblast cells and thickness of collagen fibers score against socket wounds after tooth extraction in male white rats
The Effect of Cognitive Behavior Stress Management Program on the Distress, Coping Skills, and the Social Support of Omani Women with Breast Cancer: A Pilot Study
Cognitive behavior stress management (CBSM) is an effective intervention that is suitable for use with women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer; however, the effectiveness of CBSM in an applied clinical setting has not been examined in an Omani cultural context. Therefore, we examined the effectiveness of an 8-week CBSM group program using a sample of 6 Omani women who had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. The purpose of this case study was to examine clinically significant changes in distress, social support, and the psychological ability to cope with breast cancer from pretest to posttest and follow-up (i.e., 1 month later). Overall, the group yielded strong positive effect sizes indicating clinical improvement over time in distress symptoms and social support, but strong unfavorable effect sizes in cognitive avoidance. All women met the measurement criteria for anxiety and depression at baseline. The 2 participants who had the highest levels of baseline distress demonstrated the most pronounced improvements in depression and anxiety at posttest; however, their scores had returned to baseline levels at follow-up. On the other hand, the qualitative feedback of all 6 women underscored the effectiveness of the program in facilitating cognitive restructuring, relaxation, and social support. The present findings offer preliminary support to the effectiveness of CBSM in reducing psychological distress, improving coping skills, and fostering social support skills among Omani women with breast cancer. However, the program also had a few unfavorable results with regard to one coping strategy, namely, cognitive avoidance. Nevertheless, the findings suggest that social support can alleviate distress and improve coping skills among Omani women who struggle with breast cancer and its treatment. Further, strategies that can address cognitive avoidance and temporally sustain the positive effects of CBSM must be examined in future studies. Evaluation of a Constructed Optical Coherence Tomography System
The objective of this work is to design and construct an optical coherence tomography (OCT) system, beside the comparison of the efficiency of this system with other tomography systems, like Photoacoustic system, to evaluate its operation. Michelson interferometer was designed; which represent the heart of the system. Two types of laser sources were used; they were He-Ne laser with wavelength of 632.8 nm and semiconductor laser with wavelengths of (700) nm. Performance of the constructed system was completed by receiving the interference fringes by an optical detector, which was connected to the display unit. Digital oscilloscope, with Fourier transformation, was used to display the signal information in frequency domain. Also CCD camera was used to give two & three dimensional images for the studied samples. The constructed system can be used for many purposes, for examples: measurement of the thickness and determination of the optical properties for different samples. The samples studied by the constructed OCT system were: glass slides, polymer\ pyrex\ carbon coating, layers of onion. To prove the good performance of the constructed OCT system the results were compared with other results gained by a Photoacoustic system for the polymer sample. The comparison proved that the constructed OCT system is operated efficiently and correctly
Marketing Information Systems and Sustainable Consumption
Sustainable consumption is an emerging issue in many economies and this had been evidenced by grouping such as United Nations which has embarked on sustainability programs to ensure effective production and development of individual well-being in the society. Previously, main concern of firms was in satisfaction of needs and wants with less concern of its effect both to the consumers and the business environment. Global conferences have emphasized the need to manage excessive demands and unsustainable lifestyles and redistribution of resources from the developed to developing states globally as to progress regional sustainability both in production and consumption. Among other factors, sustainable consumption in firms can be ensured through measurement of operations and activities as well as information flow from the market to the firm and vice versa. The study focused on the marketing information systems. The main objectives of the study include: to review extant theoretical literature on the constructs of marketing information systems and sustainable consumption; to review extant empirical literature on the constructs of marketing information systems and sustainable consumption; to identify emerging theoretical and empirical gaps that forms the basis of future research on marketing information systems and sustainable consumption and to propose a conceptual model to respond to the gaps identified in the study. The literature reviewed suggested existence of relationship between MkIS and sustainable consumption. Even though various models and theories identify with the relationship, there is need for a unified model that explains the relationship. Further, from the empirical review, it emerged that the key elements that determine the effectiveness of a marketing information system is the information, the infrastructure of the MkIS, and the marketing orientation where the product offers are of superior value than that of competitors.The main empirical gap identified was that firms that practiced sustainable consumption possessed sustainable consumption models, however the models did not translate to firm market performance and hence the need to establish impact of MkIS on sustainable consumption. Further, firms that practiced non sustainable consumption were viewed to be more profitable while those that practiced sustainable consumption cited the processes to be costly and unprofitable. Model Reference Adaptive Control based on a Simplified Recurrent Neural Network Trained by Gbest-Guided Gravitational Search Algorithm to Control Nonlinear Systems
This paper presents an intelligent Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC) strategy based on a Simplified Recurrent Neural Network (SRNN) for nonlinear dynamical systems. This network is an enhanced version of a previously reported modified recurrent network (MRN). More precisely, the enhancement in the SRNN structure was realized by employing unity weight values between the context and the hidden layers in the original MRN structure. The newly developed Gbest-guided Gravitational Search Algorithm (GGSA) was adopted for optimizing the parameters of the SRNN structure. To show the efficiency of the proposed SRNN-based MRAC, three different nonlinear systems were considered as case studies, including complex difference equations and the water bath temperature control system. From an extensive set of evaluation tests, which includes a control performance test, a disturbance rejection test, and a generalization test, the proposed SRNN-based MRAC system demonstrated its effectiveness with regards to precise control and good robustness and generalization abilities. Furthermore, compared to other Neural Network (NN) structures, including the original MRN and the Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) NN, the SRNN structure attained superior results due to the utilization of a reduced set of parameters. From another study, the GGSA accomplished the best optimization results in terms of control precision and convergence speed compared to the original Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA)

The Synchronous Occurrence of Neuroendocrine Tumor and Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) at Gastric Site
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are the most frequent sarcomas in the gastrointestinal tract. They affect all segments of the digestive tract. The incidental occurrence of GIST and other primary tumors has not been well described in literature. We describe a case of a 73 year old patient who underwent surgery for gastric GIST with an incidental pathologic diagnosis of a gastric neuroendocrine tumor. The occasional finding of this association underlines the importance of a carefully pathological diagnosis for its identification.
