    Comparison of Burn Wound Healing Ability between Ethyl Acetate Extract Gel of Betel Nut (Areca catechu) and Snake Fruit Seed (Salacca zalacca) in Rats

    The burn is the most common type of trauma that is found over the world. Betel nut and snake fruit belong to the family of Arecaceae have various phytochemicals that have antioxidant activity to accelerate the wound healing process. This study was aimed to explore the wound healing effect of ethyl acetate extract from betel nut and snake fruit. This study used 20 rats that divided into four groups include Standard (Bioplaceton©), Control, Gel of Snake fruit seed, and Gel of Betel nut. The gel was formulated from the ethyl acetate extract of snake fruit seed and betel nu by the maceration process. A steel plate conducted the burn under ketamine anesthesia. The parameters that were evaluated were wound contraction and epithelialization period. The result of this study showed that the wound contraction showed a significant difference up to 4 days of observation (P-value < 0.05). While, the group of standard, gel of snake fruit seed, and gel of betel nut have a significant difference in epithelialization period against the control group (P-Value < 0.05). Overall, both of the gel extracts have potential acceleration burn wound healing. However, the gel of betel nut is more effective than the gel of snake fruit seed

    Over the years, there has been a constant increase in the demand for mobile software due to the constant increase in the number of smart phones. Mobile developers have the liberty to adopt different development architectures or strategies which includes the native app, mobile web app, hybrid app and the new Progressive Web App (PWA). PWA which combines the features of the native and web development strategies emerged as a better alternative to other development approaches due to additional benefits such as offline capability, background synchronization and so on despite several concerns that have been raised towards the efficiency of PWAs. Hence, this research work aims at performing a comparative study on the existing mobile development architectures using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) technique, performing feature comparison on the native, hybrid and PWA architecture and finally argues for the PWA development architecture based on the comparisons. The comparison will aid researchers and development firm in understanding the concept of PWA thereby motivating them to adopt this strategy for further development

    Inoculation with Pseudomonas Pseudoalcaligenes Lead to Changes in Plant Sugar Metabolism and Defense That Enhance Tolerance Against the Pathogenic Fungus Sclerotium Rolfsii

    Certain Pseudomonas species promote in plants an induced systemic response (ISR), which results in pathogenic disease reduction. This is energetically expensive, implies a redistribution of sugars, and involves several enzymes such as cell-wall invertase (cwINV). The present study aimed to evaluate the role of soluble sugars and cwINV activity in the ISR of Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes-primed tomato plants challenged with Sclerotium rolfsii. Disease severity of infected plants was 100%, whereas that of primed plants was 43%. At 24 h after challenge, infected plants showed higher cwINV activity, increased LIN6 and SUS3 mRNA levels, upregulation of the defense marker gene PR1b1, no changes in PR2 and PR3 mRNA levels, and almost unchanged sugar content. Instead, primed plants displayed a lower induction of cwINV activity and gene expression, slightly increased PR2 and PR3 mRNA levels, and increased leaf fructose content. Cytokines also induced LIN6 expression and cwINV activity. Altogether, these results reveal that P. pseudoalcaligenes triggers changes both in sugar metabolism and plant defense, leading to enhanced tolerance against Sclerotium rolfsii

    Anti-hemorrhagic Activity of Wild Custard Apple (Annona senegalensis) Ethanolic Leaf Extract on Spitting Cobra (Naja negricollis) Metalloprotease.

    The main feature of Naja nigricollis venom is its high proteolytic activity responsible for most of local and systemic effects observed during envenomation by this snake. In this present work we reported the purification and characteristics metalloprotease from Naja nigricollis venom by combination of two step chromatography; a gel filtration (sephadexG-75) and an ion – exchange(DEAE–sephadex –A-50). Ethanolic extraction of the leaf of Annona senegalensis was carried out. An hemorrhagic Naja nigricollis metalloprotease(NNMP) was partially purified from Naja negricolis venom using sephadex G-75 and DEAE-sephadex A-50 column chromatography. Purification of the hemmoraghic metalloprotease was about 11-fold with a total recovery of 5.8% from the crude Naja negricollis venom. Biochemical characterization of NNMP show a Km of 10.5M and Vmax  of 45.5 unitsmg-1. The hemorrhagin show optimal stability at PH 5.5 acetate buffer and thermally stable at 400C. NNMP has activation energy as 0.25kjmol-1 and it caused hemorrhage when injected intra-dermally in albino mice suggesting hemorrghic metalloprotease. NNMP hemorrhagic activities were highly inhibited by ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and the ethanolic leaf extract of Annona senegalensis

    Stakeholders’ Perception on Critical Success Factors Influencing Electronic Procurement Adoption in Developing Counties: Experience from Tanzania

    The general objective of this study was to examine the stakeholders’ perception on critical success factors influencing Tanzania National electronic Procurement System adoption in public sector. The specific research objectives of the study were to: evaluate the perceived influences of legal framework, performance expectancy, relative advantage and attitude   towards Tanzania National Electronic Procurement System   implementation. The study adopted positivism philosophy and cross-sectional survey research design. The study also used stratified sampling technique. Sample size was 157 respondents. A questionnaire with closed ended questions and documentary review were used for data collection. The collected data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling with the help of SmartPLS 3 software. Findings reveal that all critical success factors were perceived the same by stakeholders (procurement experts and suppliers) towards Tanzania National Electronic Procurement System adoption. The study concludes that there is no significant difference with regard to stakeholders’ perception on critical success factors influencing Tanzania National electronic Procurement System adoption. The study recommends paying attention to relative advantage, performance expectancy and legal framework to significantly change the mindset of all stakeholders in the country in supporting of Tanzania National Electronic Procurement System implementation

    Analysis and Research of 2DPSK Signal Reception Based on Stochastic Resonance System under Levy Noise

    Under the background of Levy noise, a new method for coherent demodulation of 2DPSK signal based on the bistable stochastic resonance system model is proposed to solve the problem of poor quality of 2DPSK signal coherent demodulation. Comparing the output signals of the bistable stochastic resonance system model and the traditional model after passing through various components, the analysis shows that the frequency spectrum amplitude of the carrier signal after passing through the bistable stochastic resonance system model is approximately higher than that of the traditional model. 1.26 times. The error code of the output signal after demodulation by the new method is less than that of the traditional model after demodulation, and the signal to noise ratio is improved by 12.5dB. The simulation experiment results prove that the bistable stochastic resonance nonlinear coherent demodulation method effectively improves the transmission quality of 2DPSK signals

    Oral carcinoma is one of the most frequently reported form of cancer in Pakistan. In time oncogenic prognosis facilities are still available in various regions countrywide. Provincial comparison indicates that more than 67% cases of oral squamous cancer are reported from Punjab whereas ratio in KPK is also high than Sindh and Baluchistan. The prevalence of this growing ailment can be minimized only by collaborative efforts of both government and general public regarding awareness of oral hygiene, causes of oral and esophageal carcinogenesis, early symptoms of this disease and its management.  &nbsp

    Implementing a Static Cone Penetration Test in Infrastructure Works

    In modern era, a construction of infrastructure projects necessitates a geotechnical investigation, which usually involves the execution of boreholes and laboratory testing on their samples as well as in-situ testing. A useful test, important for both educational and practical reasons, is the Cone Penetration Test (CPT), used to estimate the strength and compressibility of loose-to-medium dense coarse grained and soft to stiff fine-grained geomaterials, the excavation of which requires special attention. In this paper, a theoretical review on geotechnical surveys, in-situ testing of static cone penetrometer, statistical analysis of results, geotechnical correlations for the evaluation of results along with a dimensioning of the retaining wall with pile boards, is presented. The paper aims at highlighting the use of CPT for selecting the proper type of the temporary retaining structure, necessary to support excavations in loose-soft soils. The case study includes a pump room construction along with its aqueduct, close to Aliakmonas River in Greece. From this point of view, it may offer a rather powerful research design basis than purely experimental methods
