    A Literature Review on Business Process Management

    Business Process (BP) is a set of coordinated tasks that define how to achieve organizational goals. It emerges as an efficient tool, whose main goal is supporting the design, administration, setup, disclosure and analysis of business processes, and organizations use it to identify opportunities to reduce costs, increase service or product quality, etc. The goal of BPM is to manage business processes. Organizations wish to manage perfectly these processes instead of fixing the non-ideal process setups or outcomes in a reactive manner. At present, variability management in the business processes domain is considered as a key of reuse. Process mining offers a set of techniques that retrieves information from event logs and gives companies a better understanding of their processes. Process mining has gained significant attention in both research and industry as a range of data mining tools has emerged. In this study, we will provide a systematic literature review from 2017 to 2021; we will use Kitchenham method to conduct this SLR. Data source as IEEE, ACM, Springer and ScienceDirect are used to obtain literature. We had, as a result, 51 papers from 3079 papers to complete this paper. This SLR had for objective to see the research trend on the topics of business process management, improvement, modeling and approaches using data mining

    Production and Characterization of Paw-paw Trunk Activated Carbon

    Low-cost adsorbents were prepared from matured Pawpaw trunk by chemical activation method using ZnCl2 at various impregnation ratios of 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4 (ZnCl2/pawpaw). Unwashed Pawpaw Trunk activated Carbon (UPTAC) and Raw Pawpaw Trunk carbon (Raw PTC) (not impregnated) were all carbonized at 400oC for one hour. The produced carbons were characterized in terms of surface area, porosity, bulk density, ash content, moisture content, iodine number and carbon yield. Proximate analysis was also conducted using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to detect the surface morphology and Fourier Transform Infra-red (FTIR) to identify the kind of functional groups present on the activated carbon. The results showed that surface area, bulk density, porosity, iodine number, moisture content and carbon yield of UPTAC decreased significantly with increase in impregnation ratio with ratio 1:2 having the highest surface area of 1575m2/g, porosity of 0.89, carbon yield of 69%, bulk density of 0.68g/cm3 and iodine number of 231.1mg/g while Raw PTC had the lowest surface area of 652m2/g. The results of the SEM micrograph showed that UPTAC has a well-developed porous surface with different pores diameter than the Raw PTC indicating the impact of chemical activation in creating well-developed pores. Furthermore, the results of the FTIR transmittance spectra showed several peaks belonging to different functional groups including O-H group in either alcohol, phenol or carboxylic acid; R-OH group and C?C stretching of the alkynes; weak C=O stretching of the carboxylic groups and the twisted region. Comparing the FTIR transmittance spectra of Raw PTC to UPTAC, showed a clear shift in band indicating the effect of ZnCl2 activation and this shows that UPTAC may be very useful in adsorption processes

    The objective of this research is to know of microplastic particles presence, ??microplastic particles distribution and waste management at the Galuga Land Fills, Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The method used is sampling method, survey, identification of field and Pearson chi-square analysis. The result this research showed that the abudance of microplastic types in all samples at Galuga Land Fills is dominated by filament types with a total of 52% (1203,445 particles), the distribution of microplastic types in water and sediment in the river flows at Galuga land fills is mostly located in the downstream with a percentage of 49% (490.65 particles), and the highest distribution of microplastics for the three Kampoeng was in Kampoeng Lalamping around 43% (639.44 particles).     Stress and Anxiety Levels of the College of Teacher Education students and their Motivation to Learn: An Input to an Intervention Program

    The stress and anxiety experienced by many students during this pandemic affect their motivation  to learn in this new normal education set up. Motivation is one of the major concerns irrespective of which study model is adopted whether online, blended, hybrid or a myriad variation. This descriptive-correlational study determined the perceived levels of stress, anxiety and academic motivation  to learn during this Covid-19 pandemic situation  of the  191 students selected though simple random sampling of the College of Teacher Education and the  relationship between  student-respondents’ level of stress and anxiety and their level of academic motivation. To assess  students’ perceived stress, anxiety and academic motivation,  the COVID-19 Student Stress Questionnaire (CSSQ), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) and Academic Motivation Scale were utilized. The questionnaires were administered through google forms.   Findings revealed that more than 40 % of the students perceived that their relationships with their relatives, colleagues and university professors as somewhat stressful; 40 % perceived the risk of covid-19 as moderately stressful; 20 % perceived their academic studying experience very stressful and more than 15 % found the risk of contagion and social isolation very stressful. Moreover, 38 % exhibit moderate anxiety, 29 % are experiencing mild anxiety while 28 % had severe anxiety and  only  5 % minimal anxiety level. Results revealed that all the indicators of motivation have positive significant relationships with the stress indicators. For future research, similar study can be conducted to determine the relationship of demographic profiles of the respondents to the stress, anxiety and levels of motivation to learn and adopt the intervention program so the students of the college may cope up with the challenges of Covid 19 pandemic

    Clinical aspects and treatment of midface fractures through inter-personal violence: a 10 year cross-sectional cohort retrospective study

    The incidence of midface fractures due to inter-human aggression (IPV) has increased dramatically in industrialized countries recently. In this context, the World Health Organization considers the treatment and counseling of IPV victims an international priority.  The aim of this study was to determine the characteristics of midface fractures by IPV in order to create the premises for a correct and rapid diagnosis by the clinician, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment methods applied depending on the number and type of postoperative complications. Materials and methods: Patients hospitalized and treated in a tertiary hospital for oral and maxillofacial surgery for a period of 10 years were available for this study. After the statistical analysis of the variables followed, a value of p <0.005 was considered statistically significant. Results: The most common was zygomatic complex fracture n = 87 (51.80 %), followed by fracture of nasal bones n = 30 (17.90%), orbit n = 36 (21.40 %) . Most patients had fractures with displacement n = 124 (73.80%) and closed n = 150 (89.3%). The opening of the fracture was most common in the case of zygomatic complex fractures (p = 0.045). The most common soft tissue lesion was present in 134 patients (57.26%), followed by excoriation n = 58 (24.79%) and laceration n = 42 (17.95%). Most patients were treated with closed treatment methods n = 145 (86.32%), followed by combined treatment methods open reduction with internal fixation (ORIF) + maxilla-mandibulo fixation (MMF) n = 12 (7.14% ) and n = 11 (6.55%) strictly ORIF. Conclusions: Inter-human aggression most frequently causes complex-zygomatic fractures, complete, with displacement and without opening the fracture outbreak accompanied by hematomas of the soft parts. The severity of the soft tissue associated injuries is directly proportional to the underlying fracture pattern

    Measuring Household Carbon Footprint: Population-Specific Adaptation and Validation of a Tool for South Asia

    The effects of climate change occur across the globe. Without reducing the greenhouse gases through drastic action today, adapting to these untoward effects of it will be challenging and costly. Therefore, estimation of the green-house gases is a prime importance. However, there are no studies conducted in South Asian households and individuals partly due to the non-availability of a validated tool.  Therefore, this study aims to validate a screening tool to assess the carbon footprint (CFP) of residents in a Sri Lankan household (HH). The 28-item Resources and Energy Analysis Program (REAP) Calculator which was originally developed in United Kingdom was initially translated, population specific adapted using modified Delphi process with a panel of 10 experts and assessed for judgmental validity. Construct validity was assessed among 210 HHs by performing exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Reliability was assessed using the test-retest method and internal consistency. After four rounds of Delphi techniques and validation, 20-item CFP-SL tool was found to be valid and reliable for assessing the CFP both urban and rural HHs. Five-factor model of 20 items was identified as explaining 64.3% of the total observed variance. It showed a stable factor structure (RMSEA=0.181, CFI=0.850, NNFI=0.813, SRMR =0.085, GFI=0.643) and reliability (internal consistency of 0.87). Therefore, Sinhala version of the CFP-SL tool is a valid and reliable tool to assess the CFP in urban and rural Sri Lankan HHs. &nbsp

    Digital Garden System Using Arduino

    Gardening can help with unfavorable weather conditions to provide a sustainable food crop without struggling with the planting season and being pest-free. Creating an artificial atmosphere that can stabilize plant-like lettuce and strawberry is somewhat tricky; however, developing a closed cubicle with an artificial environment consisting of LED grow light, compressor, air pump, and humidifier solve the problem. The device used an Arduino microcontroller to control the growth of Lettuce and Strawberry using the Hydroponics technique. The temperature sensor is used in this device to activate the cooling system of the project. The study focuses on developing the online monitoring application of the garden that displays Humidity, Temperature using a DHT sensor, adjust the light intensity inside the garden using AC light dimmer, and display local video streaming through RTSP connection. Moreover, the wifi module is used in the project to transmit and receive data over the internet. Furthermore, the digital garden system also has its web-based monitoring application made up of PHP, HTML, and SQL to store and filter data from the DHT sensor. Based on the various tests conducted, the digital garden system has successfully produced a stable environment that successfully grows healthy lettuce and strawberry

    Spreading Oro-fascial Infections: Is the Trend in Burden Changing?

    Spreading orofacial infections are often encountered and managed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons. Several factors have been attributed to this spread. It has been reported to be the leading cause of death in maxillofacial patients seen in most hospitals, especially in a resource constraint country like Nigeria. The current study aims to assess factors that contribute to the disease burden of patients with orofacial infection. The case files of 101 patients who were diagnosed clinically of spreading orofacial infections with radiographic confirmation of involved tooth/teeth managed at the LASUTH and OAUTHC Ile Ife over twelve months. The following information was obtained in a prospective study using a proforma; patients’ demographics, underlying morbidity, teeth involved, site location, fascial spaces involved, treatment, and outcome. Patients with incomplete data were excluded. All patients had adequate rehydration followed by incision and drainage or decompression as the case required before administration of empirical antibiotics via the intravenous route. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS version 21.0. One hundred and one cases were retrieved for the study. There was an almost equal gender distribution of males 51 (50.05%) and females 50 (49.50%). The female to male ratio of 1.02:1.00. The age range was 12-82 years, the mean age for females and males was (17.6 ± 0.448). The majority of the cases were in the 21-40 age group. A significant percentage (95.0%) of the patients were managed as in-patients. The majority of the death 8 out of 12 were recorded among the age group 51-82 years. Mandibular teeth were more affected compared to the maxillary teeth. Though not statistically significant (p=0.054). The lower right first and second molar (17.82%) each were mostly implicated in the mandible while the maxillary upper right second molar tooth (one-third of the total number of maxillary teeth affected) was the most implicated tooth in the maxilla. Twenty-five of the patients had underlying medical conditions with diabetes mellitus being the commonest (66.7%) among the patients under review. Majority of the patients presented with multiple facial spaces involvement with Ludwig’s angina being the commonest presentation. The submandibular space was the most involved space both in single and multiple spaces involvement. The mortality recorded were in patients with Ludwig’s angina, temporal and parapharyngeal space involvement. Seven (58.33%) out of the recorded death had involvement of more than four fascial spaces. The commonest treatment offered was incision and drainage with the extraction of the offending tooth/teeth. There was a positive correlation between the length of hospital stay and the duration of drain in-situ. Fascial space infections in a resource- and personnel-scarce setting still confers a great burden on management. The need for quick surgical intervention, aggressive and adequate antibiotics administrations, high protein nutritional support, and co-managing of patients with other medical teams in controlling associated morbidities are very essential to a good outcome

    Efficacy of Adjuvants Photoprotectors for Herbicides in Sugarcane

    Sugarcane is one of the main agricultural crops in the country and is the main raw material used by the sugar and alcohol industry. With the current sugarcane cultivation model, where burning for the harvest is no longer possible, the remaining straw from the mechanical harvest remains in the field. The straw on the ground forms a physical barrier, which reduces the incidence of light and helps to inhibit the growth of some weeds, selecting others adapted to this condition. Among the different weed managements, the application of pre-emergent herbicides is quite usual, but under these conditions the herbicide will be intercepted by straw, which is transported to the soil by leaching in the rainy season or by irrigation. When herbicides are applied during the dry season, they are exposed on the straw surface, subjected to solar radiation and can reach high temperatures. In this environment, herbicides that have photosensitivity characteristics can undergo transformations in their molecules and present photodegradation, not reaching their full effectiveness in controlling weeds. Within this context, this research aimed to study the photosensitivity of the herbicides amicarbazone, metribuzin and sulfentrazone, and evaluating two adjuvants, a concentrated suspension and an emulsifiable concentrate, which allows to protect its molecules from photodegradation. For this an experiment was conducted to simulate the real conditions found in field applications, the samples were subjected to radiation solar for 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 days. The results were evaluated through the photostability of the herbicides without and with the use of adjuvants. The results found for amicarbazone and sulfentrazone showed that the ideal adjuvant for these molecules was emulsifiable concentrate (EC) formulation and for metribuzin none of the adjuvants were effective, requiring the development of a specific adjuvant for this herbicide
