Onto4CAAL: An Ontology to Support Requirements Specification in the Development of AAL (Ambient Assisted Living) Systems
The Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) is a technological approach that emerged to meet the demands of the elderly and people with disabilities. As they are considered complex and multidisciplinary systems, it is necessary to identify and define which modules need to compose these systems. Among the challenges found in the development of the AAL systems are the alignment with functional and/or non-functional requirements and the compliance with ethical, legal, social, medical and technical restrictions that guide these types of systems. Therefore, this work presents a core ontology (Onto4CAAL) to support the specification of requirements in AAL systems, where the elements that are part of the system type are integrated. Using this ontology, it was possible to develop a domain ontology (Onto4Elev) for Vertical Lift Platforms, where a validation was carried out with the industry in relation to the elements that constitute it and, later, a scenario was built for the application simulation and verification. With the use of ontology, it will be possible to standardize the understanding of the associated terms and, at the same time, to verify the relationship among the elements, helping the designer in the decision making
Modelling and Simulation of a Renewable Energy System for Remote Isolated Health Facilities in Uganda using Simulink
Solar PV systems are now widespread across the globe. These systems generate electricity to fulfill the energy demands together with the existing resources as well as power including medical facilities situated in remote areas of Uganda where the main national electricity infrastructure has not been reached. In this paper, an off-grid PV system for rural medical facilities and the emergency situation has been simulated and modelled using the MATLAB Simulink toolbox. Because of the difference in temperature, solar irradiance, PV temperature, shading conditions, ambient temperature, wind speed, and dust, the electrical power generated by a photovoltaic (PV) module and hence the power sent to the load fluctuates, which rises the need to carry out analysis of the entire PV system to obtain peak and maximum power under these variable situations. In this paper, a complete off-grid PV module renewable energy generating system has been designed and simulated using MATLAB/Simulink and performance has been analyzed by subjecting the PV panels to various irradiances starting from 1 KW/m-2 for the Ugandan case. The simulation model consists of a solar PV array, and the battery system, the converter power stage with PWM control, and charge controlling functions and the performance of each block has been studied continuously. Finally, it has been found that this model is quite capable to simulate both the P-V and I-V characteristics of a PV module, and based on the result it has been forecast that the performance of several modules or even PV arrays connected in series and/or in parallel with the delivery of maximum power can be tested under diverse temperature and solar irradiances
The Impact of Tobacco Smoking on Oral Health - An Ob-servational Study
Cigarette smoking is a major cause of a high number of diseases including oral diseases. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the impact of smoking on oral health. This is an observational study. In the present research were taken into consideration 200 young adults with an age range of 18 to 25 years old, of which 58% were males and 42% were females. The study found a strong correlation between smoking and very bad gingival status (P= .001; 95% CI 0.42-0.53), missing teeth (P= .001; 95% CI 0.35-0.45), dental caries (P= .001; 95% CI 0.36-0.43), and inflammation of the lips (P= .001; 95% CI 0.33-0.57)
Preliminary and Accelerated Stability Study of Melissa Officinalis Syrup Cultivated in the South of Tocantins
Melissa officinalis L. (Lamiaceae) is known as a true lemon balm and is popularly used in traditional medicine as a tranquilizer. The present research aimed to propose a source of syrup based on the tincture of M. officinalis and perform preliminary and accelerated stability tests, and microbiological evaluation. The leaves of M. officinalis were collected and after botanical identification, the raw material processing step was followed to obtain the dye. The tincture obtained was used to prepare the syrup based on M. Officinalis. The syrup was used as steps of physical-chemical and microbiological quality control. It was found that the M. Officinalis syrup, in the analysis of pH, organoleptic characteristics, density, volume, and microbiological assay, is by the consulted literature. The observed results indicate that the syrup of M. Officinalis is within the defined parameters, which guarantees the patient the efficacy and safety of the herbal medicine
Racial Discrimination in South Korea: Korean Academics Offer Proposals for a Solution, but What if the Solution is Inherent to the Korean Constitution?
Korea has been a homogenous culture for over five thousand years. Although it has faced incursions and occupations, it has always repelled those advances and maintained racial, linguistic, and cultural purity with surprising resoluteness. However, Korea\u27s modernization and economic expansion required alliances and policies that introduced multicultural forces into its once pure society, creating sizable racial minorities for the first time in history. The government\u27s shift from authoritarian rule to liberal democracy has given voice to these minorities. These groups are demanding admittance to an exclusive society, along with equal and humane treatment. The people and government of Korea are now faced with the dilemma of dispensing with the exclusive dominance of their age-old, ‘pure’ culture to accommodate different ethnicities and practices. This paper will discuss the problems and potential solutions, including one that may already exist untapped in the Korean constitution

Morphological Characteristics of the Indigenous West African Dwarf Goat in the Four Agro-Ecological Zones in Sierra Leone
Data collected from 230 West African Dwarf (WAD) goats in four agro-ecological zones in Sierra Leone. They consist of 110 males and 120 females classified into five age groups as follows: Kids (below one year), Yearling (1 – 2 years), Young adult (2 – 3 years), Adults (3 – 4 years), Mature (4 - 5 years), and Old (over 5 years). Predefined Adapt Map protocol used to determine the collection of body measurements for Chest (Heart) girth (CG), Height (HW), Body Length (BL), Width of pin bones (PB), Width of points of shoulder bones (SB), Ear length, Horn length and Scrotal circumference using a measuring tape. Body weight measurements obtained using digital hanging scale. Coat color data obtained by visual observation. The data analyzed using Variance Model (ANOVA) procedures of Statistical Analysis System (SAS) version 6.12 Software and post hoc mean separation done using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). In conclusion, indigenous WAD goats show little morphological variation across agro-ecological zones. Minor variations occur between male and female goats in their respective age groups. Body weights can be predicted from both body length and hearth girths. Therefore urgent need is required to select, multiply and distribute high performing males to many communities nationwide identified with high levels of inbreeding.  
Biosecurity Measures in Meat and Milk Value Chains A Case Study in Koinadugu District, Northern Sierra Leone
This study assesses the level of vulnerability to zoonotic diseases and factors influencing implementation of biosecurity measures among meat and milk value chain actors. The study was conducted in Koinadugu and Falaba Districts (main ruminant production areas) in Sierra Leone. A semi-structured questionnaire was used to test knowledge, attitude and practices of value chain actors to zoonotic diseases. A total of 87 chain actors were involved in the study including 13 livestock traders, 20 butchers, 16 slaughterhouse workers, 17 transporters and 21 milk traders. Data was analyzed by simple descriptive statistics.
Chain actors in the study indicate a fair knowledge about zoonotic disease symptoms and biosecurity measures. Brucellosis, Bovine Tuberculosis, Anthrax, Salmonellosis, Cystecercosis and rabies were reported. However, adoption of biosecurity measures was very low due to low level of education, lack of training and inadequate extension services, high cost of personal protective equipment (PPE) and inadequate enforcement of regulations by local authorities. According to this study the use of PPEs by milk traders was 23.8%, butchers 20%, slaughterhouse workers 18.8%, transporters 11.8%, and traders 7.7%.The low level of biosecurity measures indicates high risk for the spread of zoonotic diseases. However adequate support services can help reduce the risk. 
Age and Sex Related Variations in Haemoglobin Level
Haemoglobin (Hb) is the functional protein in Red Blood Cells, which mainly involve in transportation of Oxygen from lungs to peripheral tissues. The objective of this study is to analyse the age and sex specific variations of haemoglobin level in a group of individuals. The study was conducted at Ceymed Healthcare Services laboratories, Nugegoda, where data from full blood count reports of 100 individuals were collected for 5 consecutive days. Among the 100 individuals, 51 were males and 49 were females. The analysed data showed that the average Hb level was 12.27 ± 2.05 g/dL (mean ± SD). It was lower in females; 11.73 ± 1.51 g/dL (mean ± SD) than in males; 12.79 ± 2.37 g/dL (mean ± SD). Most of the individuals in the sample we collected were males. Haemoglobin level of 45% of individuals were within the normal range while 54%, had low haemoglobin levels. Also 1% of high hemoglobin individuals were found. Most of the anaemic males belonged to the age group 60-70, whereas most female anemic patients belonged to the age group 30-39. Prevalence of anemia in the studied population was equal among both sexes. The new findings of this study showed the distribution of Hb levels relate to age and gender
Geo-Electrical Investigation for Groundwater Resources in a Part of Butembo Area (North Kivu Province; Democratic Republic of Congo)
This paper presents the results of the groundwater research undertaken in Butembo area, Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. By the geophysical survey undertaken in this campaign, the expected result was to find out aquifers through the geological exploration and geophysical survey. The geological exploration has revealed that the geology of Butembo is built by crystalline rocks covered by a lateritic top soil. The geophysical investigation was focuses on the electrical method of resistivity using the Schlumberger configuration spreading the current electrodes from 1.5 to 280m with depth penetration capability of 93.3m. The field data was acquired using the allied Ohmega resistivity meter and the computer plot using the WinResist software after being subjected to manual plotting. The analyses of sounding curves of data over the areas have brought out three to four subsurface geo-electric patterns. The geophysical curves suggest that aquifers are made by fractured crystalline bedrock. The aquifer level is overlain by more than 20 m of saprolite and a thick slightly weathered basement. This sandy clay saprolite can constitute an aquifer but it lower transmissivity and the hygienic conditions made it unusable. By this research, we have got ideas relatively to the underground water of the region so that we may evaluate the possibility of their domestic use by drilling
